Chapter 7 I Was Blind

Martin's eyes darkened in an instant, and intense desire flashed in his eyes. After a long pause, he said in a low voice, "Remember that you're mine."

This man's mind was a mystery to Cassandra. She was unable to understand what was on his mind in this new life of hers.

She remembered that in her last life, he was a cold-blooded man who always fought with his brothers, and he had gotten hurt countless time. In the last year of her previous wife, Martin himself was in poor health.

Cassandra thought carefully about the events that happened in the coming five years in her last life. Martin was never one to show mercy to his enemies, even if it was his own family. In the next three years, he would eliminate his enemies and solidify his position in the Lu Clan. That was how he became the youngest and most powerful head of Lu Clan.

It had to be said that he had never done anything to harm her in the five years. He didn't hurt her even when he found out that she planned on eloping with Roger.

It was unbearable for her to look back at her last life. She didn't want to be shameless like she had been anymore.

As for the people who harmed her, she had every intention of making them pay for it!

"Martin." She turned to him with confusion in her eyes.

In her past life, and this one, she wondered why he chose her to be his partner.

She remembered that at this time in her last life, Martin had no control of the Lu Clan. If his only motive in marriage was to fulfil the promise, he could just marry her and ignore her.

Moreover, with the power he had, he could easily know that she married him in place of Susan.

No one ever knew what he was thinking. He spent most of his time alone. The only person by his side was Carlos.

"Yes?" he replied and looked at her intensely.

Cassandra took a deep breath and gathered the courage to sit closer to him. She gently placed her hand on his and said, "Thank you."

She thanked him for his protection and his mercy towards her in her previous life. At the time, she was blinded by her feelings for Roger and hurt Martin again and again. It wasn't until she was given a new life that she realized that the only person who had been good to her was this man that others saw as a monster.

If it weren't for Susan's and Roger's schemes, Cassandra and Martin wouldn't have ended up like that in her past life.

She had died and paid off her debts for her to be reborn.

In this life, she would start again and live well!

She couldn't change the fact that she married Martin. However, she wouldn't go against his wishes again. Although she realized it too late, Martin was her savior. To live a better life and become a stronger person, she had to do everything to please him.

Martin stretched out his hand and pinched her chin, which forced her to look up into his eyes. He said in a husky voice, "Casey. You're my wife now. I can let the bygones by bygones, but that doesn't mean that you can continue to do as you please. Do you understand me?"

After a short pause, Cassandra understood the hidden meaning behind his words. It was a warning. He warned her not to betray him for Roger.

She locked eyes with Martin with a knowing smile on her face. "I know I was blind in the past, but now that we're married, I want to live a peaceful life with you."

Martin stared at Cassandra for a long time, then released his hand. "I have something to attend to. You can go upstairs and get some rest. If you need anything, feel free to tell Carlos."

Cassandra remembered that Martin had punished his brother in her previous life. The Lu Clan called him back to confront him, but sent assassins to kill him on his way. Although Martin survived, he was hurt severely.

Cassandra grabbed his shirt and murmured, "I don't want to be alone."

Martin's brows furrowed deeply. 'Does she know what she is doing? Is she inviting me?'

"I'll have someone keep you company, honey." Martin rubbed the space between his eyebrows and said in a helpless tone.

In an instant, Cassandra's face crumpled. She turned her face away from him as if she was wronged. "Are you making up excuses to leave because you don't like me? Martin, you break my heart! You've gone too far! I want to run away from home!"
