Chapter 6 Can't I Support You

Armed with her past life memories, Cassandra wasn't surprised when she saw that Martin had prepared a full wardrobe of clothes for her. All the clothes were from luxury brands, even her pajamas.

Martin was seated on the couch in the living room. He gazed at Cassandra as she walked downstairs in her pajamas.

Her beauty and swan-like figure, coupled with her radiant wedding makeup, made her look elegant and gorgeous, which would move any man.

Martin waved her over and said, "Come here."

An alarm went off in Cassandra's head. She couldn't figure out why he called her over, but her intuition told her that something was about to happen. She couldn't say no and sauntered over to him.

When she reached his side, he gave her a cold glance and said, "Sit."

She carefully sat down beside him and braced herself for what was to come. Carlos had left the two of them, so only she and Martin were left in the living room.

"From now on, you are my woman. As long as you don't cross the line, nothing terrible will happen to you. Do you understand what I'm trying to say?"

Cassandra nodded in understanding. "Actually, I have something that I wanted to discuss with you," she said meekly.

"What is it?" he asked, narrowing his eyes at her.

To become more powerful, she had to change her ways. She couldn't live the way she used to.

Cassandra took a deep breath to gather courage and said in a tentative voice, "I know that we're married now, but I can't stay idle for the rest of my life. I would like to work. I majored in acting while I was in university. I want to be in show business. Would you be okay with that?"

The was a tense silence between the two as she waited for his answer. It seemed as if the temperature in the living room had dropped by a few degrees.

In her previous life, she never figured out what kind of person Martin was. She only knew that he had a violent temper, and at that time, she provoked him again and again.

"Do you think that I'm not capable of supporting you?" Martin asked in a hoarse voice.

Cassandra was taken aback.

That was not what she meant.

Everyone knew that Martin was the wealthiest man in H Country. If he couldn't support his wife, no man in the world could.

'Did he take my question the wrong way?' Cassandra thought to herself.

"I didn't mean it that way. You have work too, right? I should have something to do while you're at work. I can't just wait for you to come home every day. That would be pathetic of me."

Martin raised his head at her and replied, "Well, that would be nice if you could do that for me."

His woman didn't need to be in the public eye, nor did she need to earn money. He had enough money to support both of them. Whatever his wife wanted, he would find a way to get it for her.

Cassandra sighed and thought that Martin didn't think like most people did.

"Don't you think you would get tired of me one day if I don't do anything all day? If that happens, I will be out of step with the times. I wouldn't want you to see me as a fool who knows nothing."

Martin looked at Cassandra and pondered over her words. She carefully met his gaze. In her previous life, she never worked. She spent her time finding new ways to irritate Martin, and when she wasn't doing that, she planned her escape from Yan Garden. Working had never crossed her mind.

After a long pause, Martin asked, "Do you really want to be in show business?"

Cassandra nodded and said, "Martin, I want to become stronger. I want to be strong enough to be by your side!"

Astonishment and admiration washed over Martin's face. He stared intently at her, which made her heart race. She wasn't sure if he would agree, but she wouldn't give up.

Even if she had to fight alone, it didn't matter.

"I agree, but on one condition," Martin said.

"What is it?" she asked tentatively.

She was willing to agree to anything if it meant he would let her be in show business.

Martin looked at her with mixed feelings, and after a long while, he said in a calm voice, "Sleep with me."

Cassandra's face flushed red in shyness. She didn't know how to respond.

Nonetheless, they just got married and were a couple now. In her previous life, they had sex quite often.

Cassandra raised her head to look him in the eye and said, "Martin."

"What is it?"

"I know we are a couple now, but I just got to know you. I'm not ready yet." Cassandra coughed.
