Chapter 2 2

"We are really sorry for the lazy work, miss Valeria. Please, tell the alpha to spare our lives for the delay." They knew my name but why was my face unfamiliar? Touching my make-up tainted cheek I tried to believe the beautiful woman in the reflection was me. "The alpha must be waiting for you." Another one spoke cheerfully.

The alpha? Wedding attire? Unfamiliar face? What the heck was happening? Just then the door opened and a tall handsome man walked in. "Are you done?" The maids who were preparing me for the wedding immediately bowed and called his name. Alpha Calhaun Castello. I had heard the name before, my eyes widened upon realising that he was the alpha of North pack.

"No need for any more decorations. We need to get done with this ceremony." I was still figuring out what was happening when the alpha reached for my hand and pulled me. "Clean the room and prepare it for our wedding night." Alpha Calhaun ordered them while my stunned eyes simply stared at him blankly. After he was done, the man dragged me out of the room towards the main hall.

"I am not going to cater your tantrums anymore, Valeria. Our deal was fair and square, give me a child and in exchange you will get the title of my luna. Yet here you are, enjoying all this luxury beforehand." It didn't take me long to figure out that perhaps I was inside someone else's body who had the same name. Moon goddess has actually given me a second chance.

Grinning at the new circumstances which were in my favour. I slipped my arm into his, trying to act cheeky. "Pardon me, alpha Calhaun. I will keep up my part of the deal." Knowing that now I could have power to take my revenge, the new situation excited me. I was still in the same world but inside a different body and in a new pack.

Lady luck was on my side, I was sent back in the same timeline where alpha Calhaun was about to marry his fiance. Except this time, I was the one who was going to take vows with him. The strongest alpha among all, the leader of the strongest pack. One thing was certain, the alpha didn't like his fiance aka me. I had to fix that thing in order to attain the power which came along with the title of luna.

"Getting cheeky, ain't we? Alpha Calhaun raised his eyebrow at me, when I figured out from his reaction that he hadn't had a good relationship with his fiance. Did his fiance die during the doll up session or whatever happened to her, I didn't care as long as the new situation benefitted me. Perhaps, that was the reason why Calhaun sensed my 'new and weird' behaviour.

"Shouldn't I be, alpha? We are getting married, I am going to be your luna now. What else would I want?" Keeping my tone normal I remarked while smiling at him. Whereas, the alpha took the bigger step towards the main hall while being suspicious of me. Nonetheless, he couldn't prove anything if he wanted to.

"Says the one who was throwing tantrums earlier. You are acting strange today, Valeria." Alpha Calhaun took me towards the

golden door which was closed. We both halted there in front of it while talking. Luckily, the alpha was disclosing all the necessary things to me all by himself. "Aren't you missing your little love affair, Aaron?" The name froze me.

Was alpha Aaron having an affair with Valeria of North pack, the previous owner of the body. Darn, that asshole! Good thing he rejected me as his mate. Lowkey, I felt happy that now he was with Alice and might even cheat on her too. "Don't worry, I have invited him too along with his luna Alice." Alpha Calhaun informed me, the realisation made me happier but for a different reason this time.

"I am glad you have invited him, alpha. Would be a sight to behold!" Smirking at the information, my reply stunned him and a brief smile appeared on his lips. The doors opened and we both walked inside with hands and hands. Loud cheers, laughter and hooting echoed in the hall. Whereas, I savoured the attention which I never had earlier. This was my time to shine! All alone!

After the ceremony alpha Aaron and his luna came to greet us. "Congratulations on your wedding, alpha Calhaun and luna Valeria." Alpha Aaron spoke while looking at me, I could see lust in his eyes clearly. Meanwhile, Alice pulled his arm to restrain Aaron

from flirting with me. Whereas, I could feel alpha Calhaun glaring at both of them as a sign of his dislike.

Slipping my arm into his I smiled even though there was sarcasm in my words. "Likewise, Alice. How does it feel to be married to someone's leftover option?" My words threw all of them off guard, though my eyes kept on staring at Alice. It was a sight to behold to watch Alice being dumbfounded and hesitant. At the same time, I could feel that alpha Calhaun was equally stunned.

"Pardon me?" Alice tried to act nonchalant to my words, while Alpha Aaron was unsure how to respond too. I could see disbelief in his eyes when he saw how I was boldly ridiculing them. "You

cannot insult my luna like this, Valeria." This time alpha Aaron spoke while trying to act high and mighty in front of me. Before I could respond, my husband, alpha Calhaun spoke to them.

"Mind your words, Aaron. You cannot address my luna without a proper title." Alpha Calhaun didn't seem a bad person, even though it was obvious he wasn't really involved in the previous owner of the body. "Unless you are tired with your life." The next thing alpha Calhaun did was wrapping his arm around my shoulder. His silent encouragement made me realise my importance.

"It is alright, honey. It seems alpha Aaron and miss Alice," Stressing over the 'miss' I knew nobody would dare say anything to me. Being the luna of Alpha Calhaun had its perks, I could carelessly insult anyone without facing consequences. "Have misunderstood my words. Didn't you have another mate before Alice?" Alpha Calhaun raised his eyebrow upon my words.

"Poor girl, I heard she died upon knowing what a hideous mate she had." How could I leave both of them alone? Especially, when I had the chance to make them feel threatened. It didn't matter to me whether they were guilty or not about killing me. Now that I had the reins in my hands along with the support of the strongest alpha. "From what I heard, she jumped off the cliff as her rejection."

Alpha Calhaun seemed to be stunned with the way I was behaving. It wasn't a wonder because the previous body owner didn't like him. Now that I was inside the body and my actions were completely opposite. Seizing the opportunity I was showing my interest in the alpha. Similarly, the way he protected me showed that alpha Calhaun wanted to keep his reputation clean.

Even if it had to force him to protect me, the alpha would do it since I was married to him now. However, it raised other questions

as to why would he marry me aka the bratty girl? When those maids called me Valeria it took me a few moments to realise who I was now. Valeria Hawthorne, the real life princess of West pack. She was pampered, brought up without anyone saying no to her. No doubt she was a beauty with brains, Valeria was the one who proposed the marriage to Alpha Calhaun. Claiming that she had taken a liking towards him, her attention span died sooner. It was due to those frequent business visits, which ignited an affair between her and alpha Aaron. Since Valeria was the daughter of West pack's alpha, nobody had the audacity to question her antics.

However, despite all the gossip I collected about her, I still could not understand the reason; why would Alpha Calhaun tolerate her? From his behaviour till now I could conclude that she was not happy with her marriage ceremony. Might even had some plan to call it off until I woke up in her body. Nonetheless, the way alpha Calhaun was constantly siding with her, she must have been a cherished one.

Call it sheer luck or a second chance, I was in the body of the most powerful she-wolf who had the influence over the West pack. Now marrying alpha Calhaun literally meant having authority over the North pack. I was under his claws and nobody would dare do anything to me. Perhaps, that was why alpha Aaron and Alice didn't respond to my mocks. Instead, they took their leave.

"You really are acting strange, Valeria Hawthorne." Alpha Calhaun looked at me while releasing my shoulder. His hand reached my face and the next thing I felt was his knuckles caressing my cheek. "Tell me, do you have any other plans now? A new lover maybe? Something you wanna extort now from me?" Goodness! She really was an opportunist with a bad attitude.

I smiled at the alpha while taking a step closer to him. Reaching for the collar of his coat, pulling him closer, my lips barely touched

his. "Oh yes, alpha. I do have other plans." Lifting myself up on the toes, reaching for his cheek, whispering in his ear. "I want to extort every last drop from you." Licking his jaw before making eye contact with him, I could clearly see how flushed he was. Glancing down at his jeans with a meaningful gesture. It was the moment when alpha Calhaun wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me. His swift supernatural movement caught me off guard as my body was tucked to his. "I shall see how far that mouth of yours," He looked down at my lips with his golden glowing eyes. "Can run!" My ears got heated.

Pushing him away with a smirk, casting a last look I walked away. Alpha Calhaun licked his lips seductively, winked at me and then began attending his friends. I had many other things to do first, now that I was in the North pack and needed more information. Moving away towards the bar, gesturing to the man I sipped over the juice. My eyes wandered all around the hall with a keen gaze.

"Finally you got what you wanted." A woman walked over me dressed in a golden shimmer gown. Turning my head with a curious gaze I looked at her wondering who she was. "But you won't last long with alpha Calhaun. He will discard you like he did with all other women before you." What the heck was she talking about? Were there other women?

Before I could speak anything she gave me an evil smirk and went away. Turning around I saw the bartender looking at me. Pointing out towards the woman, raising my eyebrows, I waited for the explanation. "Mistress Anna, third mate of Alpha Calhaun. All of them failed to conceive and frequently grew sick. Alpha Calhaun demoted them all from potential candidates to a mistress."

Listening to that I figured out that Valeria Hayden was the fourth candidate to run for Luna's position. Which meant that now I had to conceive a child for the alpha in order to legally and officially be

called as the luna of the North Pack. Nodding at the bartender who brought another juice, he seemed to be having a lot of inside information. "Who are the other two mistresses?"

The black haired bartender smiled at me and began shaking the bottles. Lowering his head he began telling me the descriptions of the other two ladies. "On your right corner if you turn around, blonde in a tail with white flowers, red body con. That is mistress Jane, the first one." Glancing at the bartender I knew he was not an ordinary guy. Those expensive cufflinks, brooch spoke counter-wise.

He paused for a moment when someone else came to get a drink. "On your left, near the middle of the hall, bright lemon shaded short dress, same coloured heels. Miss Laine. Great attitude and mannerism. Miss Anna and Jane are on one side. Miss Laine is your best bet if you want the inside gossip." The bartender suggested while I turned around to cast a look at both ladies.

"And you are?" Facing the bartender once again, raising my eyebrow I questioned him. A bright smile appeared on his lips which trend into a soft chuckle. "Markos. Alpha Calhaun's beta." He shook his head, lifted a shot and gulped it while looking at me. As expected he was not an ordinary man, certainly not a bartender for having such knowledge of the internal circle.

Placing my juice glass in front of him, while making eye contact. Markos poured a shot for me too as we clink our glasses. "To the future Luna of North pack. Miss Valeria Hayden." It appeared he

also didn't like the three mistresses and probably had some hidden personal agenda too. Nonetheless, it was a good lead for me to have someone with such an insight to further extort.
