Chapter 3

Brice drove his car all the way to the company building.

It turned out that sending Brad abroad was a lie.

Brad had been staying in his company, where Brice could see him every day at work.

Jordyn suddenly laughed.

Sometimes, when you're speechless, all you can do is laugh.

Brice had woven a beautiful, dreamy bubble around her, trapping her inside, making her believe she was the happiest woman in the world.

But outside that bubble, he had another family, and soon, there would be a child.

Jordyn felt utterly disillusioned.

The car engine had stopped, and the car camera recording should have shut off as well.

However, within minutes, an app notification popped up, indicating the car camera recording had started again.

Jordyn opened the app once more and witnessed an unbearable scene-Brice and Brad were in the car, caught up in a heated moment, oblivious to everything else.

Brad's belly was slightly swollen, and Brice protectively held one hand over it while pulling him closer with the other.

Jordyn saw Brad's intoxicated expression and Brice's face distorted by desire, and she turned away, retching.

She felt nauseated.

They went on for several rounds, and Jordyn no longer cared to delve into the details. The next morning, she copied the entire car camera recording onto a USB drive-a five-hour-long spectacle, perfect as a parting gift to mark the end of their decade-long relationship.

At nine in the morning, Brice returned, carrying breakfast.

"Jordyn, why are you up so early? Why not sleep a little longer?"

Jordyn was on the balcony watering the flowers.

These were rare night-blooming flowers she had nurtured for seven years, blooming for the first time this year.

But she snipped them off with scissors and tossed them into the trash can.

Brice was surprised. "These flowers are so rare. Why cut them off?"

Jordyn replied, "These flowers bloom only briefly, like a fleeting moment. They bloomed last night, and now they mean nothing."

"It seems I missed their most beautiful moment. It's my fault; I shouldn't have gone to the company last night. I should have stayed with you."

Jordyn chuckled softly, "It's not important anymore."

Brice embraced her from behind, whispering intimately, "Since you're awake, shall we continue trying for a baby?"

His suggestion was clear enough.

Jordyn wanted to ask, after spending hours with Brad last night, are you sure you can go another round?

But as the words formed, she found them pointless.

She was already planning to leave, so why bother arguing?

"No, I'm on my period-my time of the month."

Brice's expression changed immediately. "How is that possible? How can you be on your period... "

Realizing he'd slipped up, he quickly corrected himself, "I mean, it's not supposed to be due yet, right?"

Jordyn said, "Maybe it's early."

Brice remained silent, his face turning sullen.

"Jordyn, I need to make a call."

He turned and went back to the bedroom, calling a doctor friend, "Wasn't Jordyn's uterus removed? How can she be on her period? Was the surgery successful?"

The friend answered confidently, "The surgery was definitely successful. I'm very sure of it."

"Then why is she bleeding?"

"It could be an infection, or perhaps your intimate activities were too intense, causing a tear."

Upon hearing this last part, Brice's mood improved instantly. "So that's possible. Last time with Jordyn... well, it was indeed a bit intense."

The doctor friend reassured him, "Just time it right. Put more effort around her supposed cycle, and if she experiences slight bleeding each time, she'll never discover the truth."

Brice chuckled, "Alright, I'll do as you suggest."

When Brice came out of the bedroom, Jordyn was still on the balcony tending to her plants.

But today, instead of carefully nurturing them, she had cut them all down, uprooted the entire plants, and casually piled them together.

"Jordyn, you usually treasure these plants. Why did you pull them all out?"

Jordyn said, "I don't like them anymore."

"I feel like your mood has been off these days."

"It's my period, mood swings, quite normal."

The housekeeper happened to pass by, and Jordyn called out to her, "Mrs. Wang, please throw away this pile of trash later."

"Ma'am, do you mean these uprooted plants?"

"Yes, and the pots too. Throw them all away."
