About

I had been married to George Norris for ten years. To everyone, we were a perfect couple. But everything changed after my beloved Timothy, Timothy Mills, suddenly passed away after he underwent a successful surgery. I was sad, but at the same time, I realized something was amiss. To quell my suspicion, I reviewed the hospital room's surveillance footage the night he passed away. In the footage, Timothy had rung the bell for help three times, but George ignored it. Instead, he made out with an intern nurse in the treatment room. He said to the nurse, "Don't worry, he won't survive tonight." In that moment, my decade-long love and trust were shattered completely. I wiped away my tears and dialed my grandfather's number, which I hadn't called in ten years. "Karl, ten years have passed, and it's time to end our agreement."

Chapter 1

I had been married to George Norris for ten years. To everyone, we were a perfect couple.

But everything changed after my beloved Timothy, Timothy Mills, suddenly passed away after he underwent a successful surgery.

I was sad, but at the same time, I realized something was amiss.

To quell my suspicion, I reviewed the hospital room's surveillance footage the night he passed away.

In the footage, Timothy had rung the bell for help three times, but George ignored it. Instead, he made out with an intern nurse in the treatment room.

He said to the nurse, "Don't worry, he won't survive tonight."

In that moment, my decade-long love and trust were shattered completely.

I wiped away my tears and dialed my grandfather's number, which I hadn't called in ten years. "Karl, ten years have passed, and it's time to end our agreement."

...

With the copied video, I stormed into George's office.

He was in a meeting with several doctors. Upon seeing me, he frowned. "Julia? What's wrong?"

His concern made me nauseous.

I walked up to him and slapped him hard.

The crisp sound echoed in the office.

The other doctors there were stunned.

George clutched his face and looked at me in disbelief. "Julia, have you gone mad?"

"Am I mad?" I sneered. "George, where were you between eight and nine yesterday evening?"

His eyes flickered for a moment before he regained his composure. "I was on duty. Why?"

"Really?" I waved the flash drive. "Shall I show everyone how you were on duty back then?"

George's face turned pale immediately.

But he suddenly calmed down and smiled eerily. "Julia, what are you trying to say?"

"What am I trying to say?" I laughed coldly. "George, you know it very well."

I raised the flash drive for all the other doctors to see. "Last night, when Professor Mills passed away, Dr. George Norris was not on duty but was busy making out with a nurse in the treatment room. Professor Mills rang the bell three times, but no one showed up."

The other doctors were shocked.

George suddenly stood up and looked at me coldly. "Julia, I know you're grieving Professor Mills's passing, but you can't talk nonsense."

"Am I talking nonsense?" I plugged the flash drive into the computer in the conference room.

But when I opened the file, the screen displayed that the file could not be played.

I was stunned.

How could that be?

George saw my expression and smirked triumphantly. "Julia, look. The video can't even be played. What else do you want to say?"

I was unwilling to give up and tried several times, but the file was indeed damaged. "That's impossible. It was fine a moment ago."

George approached me and said in a low voice that only the two of us could hear, "Julia, did you really think I would leave you any incriminating evidence? I'm far more familiar with the hospital's surveillance system than you are."

I trembled as I stared at him.

He was no longer the one I knew.

He returned to his seat and wore his gentle expression again. "Everyone, Julie is emotionally overwhelmed due to the shock of Timothy's death. Please forgive her."

The other doctors nodded and looked at me with sympathetic eyes.

George suddenly took out a document and tossed it onto the table. "However, since Julia mentioned Timothy's death, I think some things do need clarification."

A foreboding feeling rose in my heart.

"Yesterday's surgery did have some problems." George's voice turned serious. "Doctor Julia Walsh didn't follow the surgical plan."

"What?" I couldn't believe my ears.

George continued, "She used an unverified material called Walsh Sutures, which directly led to the patient's post-operative infection."

"You're lying." I stood up, agitated. "You asked me to use it. You said the material might have groundbreaking results."

"Do you have evidence?" George asked coldly.

"I do. You sent me an email authorizing it."

I logged in to my email with my phone.

But as I searched through all my emails, I couldn't find the authorization email George had sent me.

"Impossible... It was right here..." My hands trembled as I kept refreshing my inbox.

At that moment, George logged in to his email with his phone. "Julia, look. There's no such email in my email either."

Just then, the conference room door opened.

Madeline walked in. Her eyes were red, and she looked delicate and pitiful. "Director Norris, I heard Doctor Walsh is slandering you."

She stood in front of me, and tears streamed down her cheeks. "Doctor Walsh, I know you're grieving Professor Mills's death, but you can't slander Director Norris just because you're jealous of me for being younger than you."

"Am I jealous of you?" I sneered. "Madeline, do you know what you're saying?"

"Of course, I do." Madeline wiped away her tears and continued, "You've been targeting me recently. You gave me the most exhausting tasks and often criticized me in front of other nurses. Now you're fabricating baseless stories to tarnish Director Norris's name because you're afraid that he'll divorce you for me."

As soon as Madeline finished speaking, whispers filled the conference room.

I looked around and saw that everyone's gaze at me had changed from sympathy to suspicion and disdain.

George sighed, "Julia, we've been married for ten years. How can you not trust me?"

He sounded hurt and disappointed.

Just then, the director of the hospital, Karson Norris, walked in.

My heart sank.

Karson was George's father. I knew the situation would be tougher for me. "What's going on? I could hear the commotion from outside."

George immediately stood up respectfully. "Dad, it's like this..."

He recounted the events. Of course, he painted a version favorable to him.

After listening, Karson looked at me with a grim expression. "Julia, the evidence is clear. What do you have to say for yourself?"

"I'm not lying. George did."

"Enough!" Karson slammed the table. "Julia, as the director, I now announce that you are suspended pending further investigation."

My world collapsed in an instant.

I had been a doctor for ten years, but it was all destroyed in an instant.
