Chapter 6 Chapter 6 Make Him Regret

"Lucy, is divorce really necessary? It's just an anniversary. Haven't I spent every year with you?" Bruce wasn't one to sugarcoat things; he preferred to address issues head-on.

In his eyes, Lucy's request for a divorce was an overreaction.

"I haven't signed the papers yet. There's no need to make such a big deal out of this. Do you even know what kind of men hang out in bars? I, Bruce, have never mistreated you. There's absolutely no need to use such drastic measures to get my attention. Just say you're sorry, and I'll pretend this whole divorce thing never happened."

Lucy chuckled angrily. "Mr. Parker, it's best if you stay out of your ex-wife's business."

She slapped his hand off her shoulder with a sharp "thud." "Whether I marry someone new right away or have a one-night stand with a random guy at a bar, it's none of your business. The only thing between us now is that we're exes." Bruce felt a surge of anger in his chest that he couldn't fully express.

"Lucy, this is your last chance. I'll count to three. If you turn around and come back to me right now, you don't even have to apologize. We'll just move past this."

Lucy paused, seeing the seriousness in Bruce's eyes, and sighed in disappointment. Even now, he didn't understand why she wanted a divorce.

"Thanks for the offer, Mr. Parker, but I don't need it. Let's go to the registrar's office on Monday to finalize the divorce." With that, Lucy strode into Nightview without looking back.

Bruce stood there, stunned as if struck by lightning.

"Monday? What does she mean by that? - Could she really be serious about the divorce?"

11 PM.

A Ferrari zipped across the Jorvik Moat Bridge.

Lucy returned to Nightview, telling Libby she wasn't in the mood to hang out and was heading back to the villa. As Libby drove, she asked, "What's Bruce trying to pull? Could he be begging to get back together?" She glanced at Lucy, who was in a foul mood, and warned. "Babe, I'm telling you, don't even think about getting back together with him. Make him regret it."

Lucy remained silent, captivated by the neon lights outside. She rolled down the window, resting her elbow on the ledge as she gazed at the scenery.

Libby slowed the car, hesitating before asking, "Babe, are you about to cry?"

Lucy shot her a fierce look. "Do I look like I'm about to cry?"

Libby instinctively nodded but quickly corrected herself. "Even a dog earns affection after being raised for a while, let alone a person. I know you're upset."

Lucy scoffed. "Don't worry. None of what you're concerned about will happen. I'm fine, and I won't be going back."

Feeling that Lucy was trying to reassure her, Libby teased. "Even if Bruce begged on his knees, you wouldn't go back?"

Lucy chuckled. "Do you think he'd actually kneel down and beg me?"

"Alright, enough about him. Just treat it as bad luck. What's your plan moving forward?" Libby had arranged a lot of work for her; it was time for Lucy to return to her rightful place, the Goddess of Stocks.

"Jordan Group has been trying to lure you out of retirement for years. Take a look at this project-they're offering a very generous commission of 30%. I heard Bruce is also trying to compete for it."

Libby had always wanted to teach Bruce a lesson.

She used to worry it would hurt Lucy, but now that the divorce was final, revenge could come at any time. It's time for Bruce to see what his ex-wife was capable of.

Libby couldn't help but feel elated at the thought of Bruce searching for the Goddess of Stocks or offering a large sum for a patent, only to discover it was his ex-wife all along.
