Chapter 1 Chapter 1 Let's Get Divorced

Bruce Parker still hadn't responded.

Lucy Bailey had already sent him forty messages.

Today marks the fifth anniversary of her marriage to Bruce.

At 8 PM last night, she gave all the servants in the villa two days off.

She covered the path from the wrought-iron gate of the villa to the main hall with 99,999 purple champagne roses, which she remembered as Bruce's favorite flower.

She wanted Bruce to receive her gift the moment he walked in.

But Bruce gave her a crushing blow instead.

[According to sources, the spectacular fireworks display at actress Esme's birthday party was orchestrated by Bruce, the CEO of the Parker Group.]

Lucy stared at the gossip news broadcast on the TV, feeling as if she had lost all sensation.

"It turns out that our five-year wedding anniversary is no match for his lover's birthday," she muttered.

It was 11:58 PM.

Lucy lit the lighter.

The ten-layer cake had a different flavor on each layer, all of which were Bruce's favorites.

She listened to the ticking of the antique clock in the 800-square-meter living room and made a wish for herself when it struck midnight.

Then, she uncovered the dishes specially prepared for the day.

In fact, there was no need to cover them; the food had long since gone cold.

Just like her marriage-waiting around for someone who wouldn't even reply. If he was not going to respond, it was time to stop waiting.

At 3 AM.

A large hand unbuttoned Lucy's nightgown.

Lucy was always a light sleeper. When she woke up startled, she was surprised to find that this hand was all too familiar.

Bruce had returned.

His body reeked of alcohol.

She wondered if he drank too much at Esme Marsh's place.

His skin was warmer than usual, and Lucy felt like she had stepped into a furnace.

As she opened her mouth to refuse, the man kissed her, and before she could fully prepare herself, he forced himself into her.

He was even more urgent and intense than usual.

In their five years of marriage, Lucy had always known that Bruce had an especially strong need for sex, and she did her best to satisfy him, but tonight, she was really not in the mood.

Bruce didn't notice; he crashed through like a beast and fell asleep after venting.

Lucy laughed angrily.

Was it true that those who were loved were always so unrestrained?

The next day.

Lucy didn't get up at six as usual to make Bruce breakfast.

She was packing her bags.

After five years of marriage to Bruce, everyone thought she, Lucy, was blessed by the goddess, but only she knew what kind of life she had been living these five years.

Due to the hangover, Bruce felt a sharp pain in his head when he opened his eyes. He instinctively reached to the right side of the bed for his coffee.

-But it wasn't there.

He was incredibly handsome; even without a suit or just having woken up, his drowsy eyes didn't detract from his stunningly striking features. He frowned and leaned back against the headboard.

Tanned skin, a firm chest, and although his abs were covered by a thin blanket, their outline was unmistakable.

"Lucy, where's my coffee?"

"-There isn't any." The usual sweet, bird-like voice didn't come. Instead, the voice was clear, cold, and completely different.

"Then go make some."

"There won't be any from now on."

Snap. A pair of bright red high heels stepped onto the snow-white wool carpet in front of the bed.

Lucy had changed out of her loose home clothes. She was wearing a pure black Chanel suit, showing off her long legs, with exquisite makeup and her hair tied up high. Bruce almost didn't recognize her.

Lucy seemed to have been waiting for this moment for a long time. She handed him a divorce agreement. "Bruce, let's get divorced."
