Chapter 5 5

His eyes fluttered open, his gaze resting onto the ceiling. It had been a day since Amy left, and still the guards had not found her. Rising from his bed, he headed to the bathroom where a bath had been prepared from him. He sunk into it, the smell of lavender hitting his nostrils, and it reminded him of Amy.

Clenching his fists, he felt his blood boil.

For hours he stayed in the bath until the water had turned cold.

Getting out of the bath, he wrapped himself up in a bathrobe, retiring to the room only to be met with a maid pushing a trolley in.

"Alpha." She called out with a bow, but Scilla had kept mute. He had always been known for being a little talker, but his syndrome had multiplied since Amy left, turning him ruthless.

"You said to bring your breakfast to your chamber last night." The maid said, her head still bowed.

"Who prepared the bath this morning?" Scilla asked, and the maid felt the sweat that had begun to gather on her forehead. Was she in trouble? she thought to herself. She had indeed prepared the bath.

"It was I, alpha." she replied, her voice choking, and she awaited what was to befall her.

"You will be banished from Mockaria." Scilla stated, not batting an eye and the woman panicked.

"Please spare me, alpha. Whatever wrong I might have done. Mockaria has always been our home." She pleaded, falling to her knees. Unbeknownst to her, she only fueled his anger.

"Say one more word and your blood will be used to paint the mansion." Scilla threatened.

"Leave." He said, not sparing the woman a glance, and she stood to her feet, her steps fading as she walked out of the room.

His gaze moved to stare at the closed door before moving the sit in front of the trolley.

Pulling each lid open, the dishes came into view one after the other but as much as they looked delicious, he had such little appetite.

Picking up the utensils, he ate in silence, the the clink and clank of the utensils reverberating throughout the entire room.

Once he was done eating, he got dressed in a pair of white long sleeve t-shirt and some baggy pants.

"Scilla." the mother Queen's voice came as he walked through the hallway and he halted in his steps.

"Mother." He called out.

"Where might you be going?" she asked, a smile coming to marry her face that had son had not ignored her.

"Oh, the council meeting is in an hour." Stated Scilla as he straightened his sleeves.

"Might you have time after that to take Sephanora out?" the mother queen asked, hoping that her son would consider it, but her smile faltered when he said...

"I do not know who that is."

"She's the daughter of one of the council members. She was hoping you could tour her around since she just moved to Mockaria yesterday."

"You do realize as the alpha, I am very much busy." Said Scilla as he was getting bored of his mother's schemes.

"I know. But you could also create some time for her."

"Fine." Came Scilla's short reply in attempts to shoo his mother away.

Getting to the council hall, all the council members were already present.

Settling onto his seat, the whole room had turned quiet.

"What is the issue this time?" Scilla's voice reverberated throughout the entire hall, and some of the men felt the sweat that ran down their spines.

"There has been another rogue attack in the Kingdom before Mockaria." Said a man who held a parchment in front of him.

"And How does that concern us?" Scilla asked making the man shiver.

"Alpha...it will be before 12 hours they'd get to Mockaria." He said, bowing his head.

"We will do nothing about it." Scilla's voice reverberated throughout the room, and a murmur erupted.

"Alpha?" the man with the parchments asked, his tone sounding astonished.

"Do you have a problem with it, Roman?"

"No, alpha."

"Then I believe that will be all."

And with that, the meeting had been dismissed. A lot if the council members whispered to themselves how insane the alpha had turned since he rejected his mate.

Meanwhile, Scilla had picked Sephanora up, and the two headed to a restaurant.

"Thank you for bringing me here, Alpha Scilla." Sephanora said, a smile marrying her face. She had been childhood friends with Scilla, and she had always liked him. She hoped that he would like her back when she got back to Mockaria, but who knew he would have found his mate. She felt thankful for him rejecting his mate, and the queen mother who was ready to help her win his heart. Now as she stared at his features, she found him more enchanting even if he had not said a word.

"If you could remember, we were childhood friends." She said again, trying to ease the deafening silence that had enveloped them.

"I had no friends when I was a child." Came Scilla's curt words, and she smiled sheepishly. Of course they were not friends. She had been the one trying to befriend him but he had shun her.

"How has being an alpha been?" Sephanora asked trying to strike up a topic.

"Nice."

"You must have felt devastated when the king passed away, the mother queen too." Said Sephanora, and Scilla paused from eating, his gaze shifting to look at her and she internally rejoiced thinking she had caught his attention.

"Sure." He said, resuming to eat, and her happiness faded in an instant.

"How did it feel when you rejected her?" She asked, holding her breath as she waited for his reply.

Scilla stared at her, confusion marrying his face.

"Your ex mate, I mean."

"Since when did you become a detective?" Scilla asked, feeling his blood begin to boil. He had avoided the topic when it came to Amy, and this woman who sat opposite just had to remind him of her.

"Just that..." Sephanora trailed, not knowing if she should let him know or not.

"Speak." Scilla ordered as he noticed there was something she was not saying.

"We are mates."
