Chapter 3 The First Secret

"Sorry, Angie, I was in the toilet just now. I had a stomach ache. But why haven't you left yet?"

Angie stepped inside. "I was worried about you. I'm the one who invited you here. It just feels mean to leave you alone when you're sick. By the way, why are your eyes swollen? Were you crying?" Angie asked, looking at Laura's face.

"I'm just tired; that's why my eyes are like this. You shouldn't have come here. Dalton will be disappointed if you don't obey his orders. Go, but don't forget to buy me the same thing you bought for yourself!" Laura winked.

She tried to find a reason to avoid spending too much time with Angie that day.

Laura's phone rang again. She immediately looked at her phone, which she had placed on the nightstand.

Angie, who was used to opening her best friend's personal belongings, tried to reach for Laura's constantly ringing phone.

"The first secret! Who is this?" Angie asked, looking at the phone screen in her hand.

Laura quickly snatched the phone.

"Don't answer it; it's not important!" Laura tried to stay calm.

"The first secret? I should know about this. Didn't we promise not to keep secrets from each other? Wait, is it the guy you're close to?" Angie guessed curiously.

"No, it's not important! If I start to love someone, you'll be the first to know. Angie, go and spend your husband's money. Isn't that your favorite thing to do? One more thing: don't forget to buy something for me too!"

Laura tried to change the subject.

'Thank goodness I changed Dalton's name in my phone!'

Before Angie could leave, there was a knock on the door again.

Laura and Angie looked at each other in surprise.

"Who's that?" Angie asked.

Laura's heart pounded again; her intuition told her it was Dalton.

But she had no way to escape at the moment.

"You won't see him? Then let me!"

Laura remained frozen; she couldn't guess what would happen next.

"Honey!" Angie said when she saw a man standing in front of Laura's bedroom door.

"You're here! The driver I asked to take you home called me; he said you haven't left yet. I looked for you in our room, but you weren't there. So you're here!"

"I was just about to leave after making sure Laura was okay to leave alone!" Angie explained to her husband.

"You better take Angie home until she's really gone. And make sure she doesn't come back here worrying about me. Come on, go with your husband! I'll lock the door so you won't come back!"

Laura pushed Angie out of her room. She tried not to look at Dalton's face.

That evening, Dalton rushed into the hotel.

He looked anxious.

Dalton knew that Angie hadn't returned to the hotel. Because his calls to Laura weren't answered, Dalton looked for an opportunity to meet and talk to Laura.

Laura, who was fast asleep, woke up to the sound of knocking on her door.

"It seems Angie is back!" she muttered as she opened the door.

Laura rubbed her sleepy eyes until she realized who was standing in front of her room.

Dalton immediately entered and pushed Laura's body. He hugged Laura tightly.

"From now on, promise you won't avoid me again. I want to make up for my mistake to you by always being by your side," Dalton said, still in her arms, inhaling the scent of Laura's body.

Laura tried to release herself. "If you want to make amends, please don't do this. You know I love Angie so much, so I can't possibly let her husband stay by my side. I don't want to hurt the person I love most," Laura said with teary eyes.

"Forgive me, darling. I've judged you wrongly all this time. It turns out you're such a gentle woman. I don't think I can follow your wishes. I'm starting to miss you!"

Dalton embraced Laura tightly again. He even explored Laura's neck, which smelled refreshingly fragrant.

Laura, who was almost carried away by her best friend's husband's passion, immediately pushed Dalton to stop his actions.

"Enough! I can't do that," Laura refused.

She immediately approached the door, trying to control herself so as not to be carried away by the atmosphere.

But again, Dalton embraced her from behind, stopping Laura's steps.

"It's not easy for me to make love to just any woman. Even last night's incident was accidental, but I was attracted to you because of your voice and the scent of your body. I really won't be able to forget last night's incident, especially since I was the first to take your virginity."

Laura's tears flowed, but it wasn't entirely Dalton's fault because Laura didn't refuse what Dalton did to her last night either.

Dalton kissed the woman who was now starting to disturb his mind again.

There was no more refusal; Laura returned the kiss.

Until the sound of the door in the next room being opened was heard, Laura realized that her bedroom door hadn't been closed tightly all this time.

Laura immediately broke the kiss and checked the situation outside.

"You'd better leave now. Angie seems to be back; don't let her see us together!"

Laura pushed Dalton out of her room.

"Promise me we won't end this relationship. You love me too, don't you?
