Chapter 5 The Omega's Secret

Davina's POV

Alpha Malcom initiated the conversation which I heard in my head and I responded to it.

The realization of this made my heart bubble in excitement.

At least I wasn't totally dumb, I had a voice in my head. Over the weeks, our friendship became stronger to the extent that I always looked forward to spending more time with him each day.

His presence soothed me that I literally had nothing to worry about all through the day even though I was still maltreated.

One day, during our secret meeting, he held my hand and with a little sigh, he said, "I can't wait to announce our relationship to the world."

Terrified, I yelled,

"No!

You can't do that."

There was a confused look on his face at my sudden disapproval.

"I can't let you do that." I said again, this time around, fiddling with my fingers as my heartbeat increased.

"But why?

Don't you love me?"

He asked, tightening his grip on my hand. "I do love you but... I can't let anyone find out about our relationship.

My mother will be unhappy with me and I don't want that to happen." I said, flashing me an uneasy smile.

"Is that all?"

He asked, eliciting a nod from me and with his hand now around my neck, he proceeded to say, "If that is the case, once I convince my father that you are my chosen mate, I will speak to your mother."

He said with a soothing voice but it still didn't stop my heart from racing. Merely thinking of it gives me chills as the fear of the unknown clouded my memory. "Are you doubting me?" He asked, disrupting my lines of thoughts. Shaking my head sideways, I replied, "I don't doubt you but at the same time, I consider it impossible."

"Your father dislikes me, so do my mom, and you already have Lyra.

I don't think there is any hope for us." I blurted the words I had been nursing in my head for a while now.

My words invited silence into our midst, making me regret why I decided to spew those words. Digging my teeth into my lips, I dug my fingers into my thigh in sync. "You leave it to me, I will handle it my way." Grabbing my shoulder, he peered into my eyes, "All you need to do is to trust me and I assure you that everything is going to be fine, okay?"

Nodding,

I parted my lips in an attempt to speak. "The next time I go see the deity, I will plead with her to give you your voice."

"Is that really possible?"

I asked with widened eyes. "Yes! It is. Nothing is impossible with the deity."

He said with a reassuring tone, causing my heart to bubble with joy. Smacking my lips, I said, "Thank you." "Come on, it's not a big deal." He let out a soft laugh, pulling me to himself.

Leaning towards me, he held up my chin and after a few minutes of silence and deep eyes stare, he locked lips with me, causing my eyes to widen When he finally pulled away, he began to comb through my hair, "I love you Davina and I can't wait to have you by my side. Together, we are going to rule the pack and make a difference."

We spent a few more minutes together before we went our separate ways. When I got home, I immediately picked up my diary and with a bright smile on my face, I scribbled down the outcome of our meeting, highlighting the kiss and reassurance he gave to me about being able to speak again.

When I was done, with the book against my chest, I cranked my head to the side, a bright smile tugging my lips. "I hope the deity doesn't refuse his request."

I mumbled.

With these sweet memories lingering in my head, I fell asleep only to wake up to hear Lyra calling my name.

In a haste to meet with her, I quickly pushed my diary inside my duffel bag but I wasn't fast enough as she walked into my room.

"Have you gone deaf too?"

She yelled,

rolling her eyes at me with her hands strapped on her chest. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to keep you waiting." I said in my head as I shook it violently.

She must be in a good mood because I was expecting her to hit me like usual but she didn't. "I left my hairloom at the palace, go bring it for me."

She said and at once I stuttered out of the room, making sure tomleep my distance from her.

She had clearly asked me to give her a five meter distance whenever we were together and I wasn't going to forget that. So as not to keep her waiting, I ran all the way to the palace and after recovering her hairloom, I ran back home.

"Here, your hair..."

My eyes grew wide as the loom fell off my hand. Sitting in the living room with their legs crossed was my mother and Lyra.

In Lyra's hands was my diary which she was flipping through with a serious look on her face. "What have I gotten myself into?" I gulped, cold chills running through my spines. "I had this deep conviction that Malcom was seeing another woman but little did I know that it was this filthy thing he chose over me." Lyra's words stung me like that of a hundred bees.

Waving the diary above her head, she smacked her lips, "You think I won't find out,

huh?"

Scared of what she would do next I tried to take the book from her but mother pushed me against the wall.

"How dare you challenge her, you traitor?" She yelled. "You're fully away your sister is mated to Malcom but you went behind her to hypnotize him."

Fortunately, there was a piece of paper and pen nearby and at once I scribbled my response on it.

We are mated by the moon goddess - I tried to prove my innocence but they burst into a mocking laughter.

Before I could realize what was happening, I fell to the ground, blood trickling down my face.

"Die already!"

I heard Lyra's voice faintly until I slipped into

unconsciousness.
