Rachel then started to reach out her hand to knock on Lucian's door. However, after several attempts, there was no answer from the room, causing Rachel to stand there nervously.
"Is he okay?" Rachel muttered. She then tried one last time, thinking that if Lucian still didn't open the door, she would just go in. That was what she had in mind at the moment.
Rachel took a deep breath when her final attempt didn't work. After that, she started to pull the door handle, which turned out to be unlocked. Rachel looked into Lucian's room but saw no sign of him. There was only the empty bed and some books scattered across it.
This made Rachel walk closer to the side of the bed, pick up the books, and start organizing them. However, the next moment, the sound of the door opening made Rachel turn around. Her body froze as she saw Lucian just coming out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist.
But it wasn't just that which made Rachel stand still. She couldn't stop staring at the front of him, seeing Lucian's exposed body, with his wet hair dripping water that flowed down his muscular body. This left Rachel speechless. Like Rachel, Lucian also stood still, squinting his eyes, staring at Rachel.
"Sorry, I woke up late. Have you been waiting for me?" Lucian asked, making Rachel remain silent as she watched him walk toward her. From this close distance, for the first time, Rachel could see Lucian's face without glasses. It turned out, he had bright green eyes that were truly beautiful, always framed by his thick glasses.
"I'm really sorry," Lucian said again, causing Rachel to snap back to reality. Blinking a few times, Rachel quickly shifted her gaze elsewhere. For a moment, her husband had completely distracted her thoughts, and Rachel hadn't expected to see Lucian in this condition, so different from the work attire she always saw him in.
"No, hurry up and get dressed. I'll wait for you downstairs," Rachel quickly replied. She hurriedly stepped out of Lucian's room. Meanwhile, Lucian stared at the closed door with furrowed brows, then turned his gaze to the nightstand to find his glasses. After putting them on, Lucian's vision cleared, and he noticed that several books were still on the bed. Additionally, his pajamas from last night were scattered on the floor.
"Is it because she saw my messy room like this?" Lucian thought, assuming that Rachel didn't like seeing his room in disarray. Outside the room, Rachel pressed her hand against her chest, her heart pounding.
"What did I just see? Is he really Lucian, the one I know?" Rachel muttered while trying to think.
Rachel compared Lucian, whom she had just seen, to the Lucian who always wore glasses and dressed neatly.
"How can two people with such different appearances really be the same person? Why did he hide his charm like that earlier? Don't men usually flaunt their good looks and athletic bodies?" Rachel continued, indirectly complimenting her husband.
Rachel then turned her gaze back toward Lucian's room before letting out a long sigh and continuing her steps to go back downstairs to the dining table. She needed to drink some water to calm her heartbeat, which hadn't improved.
"Did you just run?" Elsa asked, noticing Rachel as she quickly downed a glass of water when she sat down at her seat.
"No, I'm just a little shocked," Rachel replied. After that, she waited for Lucian, who came down a few minutes after her. Lucian then pulled out the chair in front of Rachel, looking the same as always – neatly dressed in office attire, his hair neatly combed, and his glasses perched on the bridge of his nose. His appearance was drastically different from what Rachel had seen just a few minutes ago in his room.
"I'm sorry, but today we're really going to be late," Lucian said, feeling guilty, making Rachel just shake her head.
"It's okay. Besides, we won't take much time if we finish breakfast quickly," Rachel responded, then remembered Elsa's words about Lucian being drenched last night.
"Are you okay?" Rachel asked, causing Lucian, who was eating his breakfast, to pause and look at his wife.
"I'm fine. I just had a little fever last night, but I've taken medicine, so that's why I woke up late. It might be the effect of the medicine," Lucian answered, making Rachel nod her head.
"Thank goodness. I don't want anything to happen to you, because if you're not at the office, I might have a little trouble and need your help. You know, right? I'm still having a hard time adjusting to the job I have now. Besides, there are a lot of documents we need to discuss later at the office."
"Don't worry, I'm feeling much better than last night," Lucian replied. They then continued their breakfast before leaving for the office. And indeed, as Lucian had predicted, they were a few minutes late, but it didn't matter much for a company owner; their subordinates wouldn't notice a few minutes of delay.
Rachel immediately went to her office, and Lucian followed her to drop off some documents he had brought from home. As usual, Rachel started working on some tasks that had piled up on her desk, as well as going through the emails that had been waiting in her inbox.
"What's my schedule for today?" Rachel asked, causing Lucian, who was tidying up the desk, to look at her.
"We have a lunch meeting with the owner of Arsen Group, and this is the third time, because Mr. David has canceled it a few times before," Lucian replied, making Rachel furrow her brows.
"When Daddy refused to meet with them, why did you agree to meet with them this time?" Rachel asked, needing an explanation.
"Because the owner of Arsen Group has changed hands to a new and more competent owner, and it seems Mr. David will approve if we cooperate with Arsen Group this time. It would be very beneficial for our hotel and restaurant. They, besides being in the airline business, are also suppliers of high-quality imported goods. We can start thinking about the cooperation they offered a few weeks ago," Lucian explained, causing Rachel to fall silent.
"Is that the only thing on my schedule?" Rachel asked, and Lucian nodded.
"Alright, then you can go back to your room. I'll call you if I need anything," Rachel said. After that, Lucian left Rachel's office, while Rachel continued staring at the closed door of her office, not believing that Lucian's true appearance would be so different from what she usually saw. If only Lucian would take off his thick glasses, Rachel thought.
