Lucian immediately put on a worried expression when he saw Rachel growing paler, and his grip tightened.
"Where does it hurt?" Lucian asked.
"My stomach. I need the painkiller in the second drawer of that cabinet," Rachel replied. Lucian quickly walked over, opened the drawer, and searched for the painkiller. However, just as he grabbed it, he realized the bottle was empty.
"It looks like I'll have to buy this medicine. You're out of stock," Lucian said.
"Then hurry. I can't stand the pain anymore," Rachel whispered, prompting Lucian to immediately run out of the room. Even as he descended the stairs, he almost fell several times, which caught Elsa's attention.
"Sir, what happened?" Elsa asked, seeing the panic on Lucian's face.
"Rachel needs a painkiller, and I have to buy it immediately," Lucian replied.
"Then let me do it," Elsa offered, but Lucian quickly declined.
"No need. You still have a lot of work, so I'll handle this," Lucian said. He then ran toward the garage, unable to bear seeing Rachel suffer.
However, for some reason, the car he usually drove wouldn't start. Lucian cursed several times and quickly got out of the car, then ran back inside to look for the keys to another car. But for some reason, in this panic, Lucian had difficulty finding something as small as a key.
"Sir, what are you looking for?" Elsa asked, approaching him.
"The car keys, I mean the other car keys. The car I usually drive won't start," Lucian explained, still searching for the other car keys that were usually neatly arranged in their place. However, for some reason, none of the keys for Rachel's car were in sight tonight.
"I have to hurry and buy this. Rachel is in so much pain," Lucian muttered.
"Then just take the motorcycle," one of the servants suggested, which immediately drew a protest from Elsa.
"How can you tell the Sir to ride a motorcycle? Don't you see it's pouring rain outside?" Elsa snapped at the servant, who could only lower his head. However, Lucian's expression was different.
"Where's the motorcycle? Can I borrow it?" Lucian asked, causing Elsa to look at him in disbelief.
"We will find the car keys. You can wait," Elsa said.
"No, Rachel can't wait. She needs this medicine immediately. So, can I borrow the motorcycle?" Lucian asked, and Elsa reluctantly agreed to accompany him to borrow the security guard's motorcycle. However, just as he was about to start the motorcycle, Elsa stopped him again.
"Sir, it might be better if you wear a raincoat."
"No need. That'll just take more time," Lucian replied, then sped off on the motorcycle. The security guard, several servants, and Elsa watched him in disbelief as Lucian rode the motorcycle in the rain to buy the painkiller.
"It seems Sir David really picked the right person for Mrs. Rachel," one of the servants said, making Pedro and Elsa nod in agreement.
Lucian then stopped at a nearby pharmacy, drenched from the rain. He entered and handed over the sample of the medication he needed. It didn't take long for him to get it. After that, he returned home without drying himself first, concerned about his own condition. He ran straight to Rachel's room with the medicine in hand.
"Rachel, wake up. Here's the medicine," he said, gently helping Rachel to sit up. Rachel opened her eyes, and Lucian helped her drink the medicine before tucking her back in.
"Does it still hurt?" Lucian asked, making Rachel weakly nod.
"It's fine. After I take the medicine, the pain will go away. I've experienced this often, probably every month," Rachel replied, causing Lucian to furrow his brow. This expression didn't seem to escape Rachel's notice.
"You don't have to worry. Every woman feels this pain when their period comes, so you should just rest," Rachel said, then closed her eyes again, trying to rest her body. She didn't see how Lucian was soaked through just to buy her medicine.
Lucian decided to follow Rachel's advice and left her room. He would rest and change out of his uncomfortable wet clothes.
The next morning,
Rachel descended the stairs feeling refreshed. She was neatly dressed and ready to go to the office. However, her steps slowed when she reached the dining table. Usually, Lucian would be there on time, waiting for her to have breakfast and head to the office, but this time, the table was empty, causing Rachel to look at it with some confusion. Rachel then sat in her chair and was immediately served by Elsa.
"Where's Lucian?" Rachel asked as she picked up some bread.
"He hasn't come down yet," Elsa replied.
"That's unusual. He's usually always on time," Rachel muttered. However, the words of another servant caught Rachel's attention.
"Could it be that the Sir is sick from being out in the rain last night?" whispered the servants, immediately receiving a sharp glare from Elsa. But it was too late, as Rachel had already heard them.
"Where did he get caught in the rain?" Rachel asked again, seemingly not remembering last night's events.
"Last night, the Sir went to get medicine for the Madam," Elsa explained.
"And then?" Rachel asked, seemingly wanting a more detailed explanation.
"Because the car Sir usually drives wouldn't start and the keys couldn't be found, Sir ended up borrowing Pedro's motorcycle to buy the medicine for Madam in the rain," Elsa explained. This explanation caused Rachel's hand, which was spreading peanut butter on her bread, to stop. She then looked at Elsa.
"He went out in the rain, really?" Rachel asked again, making Elsa nod. Rachel then fell silent, got up from her seat, and began walking back up the stairs, occasionally remembering the events of the previous night. Rachel hadn't paid much attention to Lucian's condition as she had been focused on her own pain.
"Why did he have to go out in the rain? He could've just sent a servant to buy it," Rachel grumbled, feeling bad for troubling him.
"Actually, what was he thinking? Riding a motorcycle in the rain like a kid. Wasn't he afraid of getting sick?" Rachel continued, stepping up the stairs, a bit more forcefully because of her irritation. Finally, Rachel stood in front of Lucian's room, which was next to hers. For some reason, doubt began to creep into Rachel's heart. She reached out her hand several times, but then pulled it back.
"I hope he's okay," Rachel muttered, and finally, she knocked on Lucian's door.
