Chapter 1 I, Alpha Weston Of The Ash River Pack,Hereby Rejects You As My Mate.

Melody's POV

As the sound of the drums drew closer, I couldn't help the throbbing of my heart, it was louder than the drum in fact. I could feel sweat running down my cheeks and my hands quivering at each step I took. Today will make a very significant day, not just in my life but also in the history of my Pack.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" my wolf roared in my head as we approached the podium.

"We can't go back on our words,we gave him our word, remember?" I replied to her via mindlink.

"Melody,that wasn't my question,are you sure of this?" She asked again, obviously she feels my pain and discomfort, she's part of me after all.

"No matter how we feel about this,we just can't go back on our word, I'm the Alpha." I said to her as my eyes locked with that of Weston.

Two years ago, it was my language,yeah because I believed that love is only an over emphasized word and is especially not meant for an Alpha like me, but it seems the whole universe wanted to prove me wrong and here I am ready to sacrifice even the name I bear to him; To Weston.

I felt all doubt flew as I stared into his deep ocean blue eyes. The only thing I can think of is a happy life with the one person that makes life meaningful to me,to the one person I can lay my life down for. I can't thank him enough for coming into my life, he deserves anything he wants from me.

With my lips curved upwards I took quick steps to the podium and stood by his side. He interlocked our fingers immediately while smiling broadly to me,I couldn't help looking into that ocean blue eyes of his that drew me towards him, Its forces superseding every other objection.

"You look so beautiful tonight, just like the moon goddess." He whispered as he adjusted closer to me.

"Stop with the flattery." I blushed with a slight smile.

"You know it's true my love." He continued and just when I was about to reply to him, seer of the Pack walked towards us.

"It's time!" She announced as she stamps her staff on the ground and the sound of the drum intensified.

"Greetings our Alpha!" The crowd chorused.

"Greetings my people, I'm honored to have you all present today."I voiced out with my alpha authority forcing them all to bow.

"Now let's proceed." She voiced out as she raised a knife upwards facing the moon reflection on the sky.

"Today, Melody Brown,the Alpha of the Ash River Pack, wants her position as the Alpha transferred to her mate, Weston North!" She voiced out with a loud voice as though the moon goddess would actually hear her.

"You're scared." Weston whispered into my ears.

Perhaps because he has claimed me, he can feel most of my emotions and when it's severe he can even share the pain with me. That's the beautiful thing about having your mate, not only that, but you both love yourselves.

"Yeah,you can't blame me for that." I replied as I exhaled deeply.

"Yeah, I understand your feelings, you can stop the ritual now if you're having any sort of doubt." He suggested while caressing my back palm slowly and I can feel his eyes fixed on me

"No, I don't want to stop it because I trust you, I trust the bond we share." I replied with a bright smile as I looked up at him.

"Thank you so much, I promise you right this minute on this sacred ground, you'll never regret your decision to do this." He was still speaking when the seer of the Pack walked towards him and gave him a cut with the knife in her hand.

"My Alpha, suck the blood." She requested, I turned my head towards her with a heaving heart, she kept a stoic expression, leaving the decision to obey her to be my choice alone.

"Baby..." The softness in his voice when he called my name, compelled me to bend my head and suck on the cut on his arm.

She began to speak in foreign language as she dipped her knife into the furnace of fire in front of us and then made a cut with it on my arm. Then she looked up at Weston who had his eyes fixed on me.

"Suck on the cut." She ordered with her eyes on me, I directed my gaze to Weston immediately, making an eye contact with her makes me feel weird.

"With your hands interlocked together, walk around this furnace." She requested, I looked up at Weston and smiled to myself; it's worth a thousand more.

"I love you." He said to my hearing as we walked around the furnace in a circular motion.

That word that left his lips the very first day he saw me, even as a rogue on the run, he still had the courage to say those words to me. I was meant to shoot him to death that day, after all, I just lost my parents in a battle, I was in agony and rage.

But then I didn't. He knew that I'm a warrior but that didn't stop him from walking towards me, he perceived the wolfsbane on me, yet he marked his claim on my neck, even when he heard the voices of my fellow warriors approaching with anger,he stood his ground.

Even till date, I don't know how or when I fell for him, perhaps it was when he locked our lips together, it felt like my fate was bonded to him and everything about him seems so right even when it's wrong.

"You should kneel before her, my Alpha?" She called out to me and I looked up at her.

" Stand in front of him." We did as she said and just then my heart began to palpitate rapidly. This is the last ritual and everything my father worked hard for will be in the hands of another man; my mate.

"Continuously without a pause,blow air into his mouth with your hands placed on his shoulders." The minute I began to do that,the seer of the Pack began to incarnate.

I felt it, I felt something leaving my body, each second that went by left me weaker,it was hurting not just me but my wolf is also in pain. My eye color changed to blue; that of my wolf and I felt my canine elongate. Even without looking at the mirror right now, I know that my veins have all popped out all over my body.

"Ahhhhuuuuu!" I howled in pain, I couldn't take it any longer, I felt my eye color change to red; that of a beta.

I felt my back hit the bare floor with an excruciating pain and then Weston stood up, his eye color blue; My Alpha.

Yeah, I did the right thing, I can't let my people belittle my mate because they knew that he was once a rogue. I will give him my name if that's what it takes to make him happy.

Even without being told by anyone, I bowed to him, I raised my hand up for him to help me stand to my feet but he smiled instead and turned to my people.

Perhaps, the pain was still there but I had to endure, I dragged myself up from the podium and walked towards Weston and gave him a back hug. Tears streamed down my cheeks,the sacrifice I had to make to make my rogue mate happy, I have to prove to him that I mean it when I say that I love him.

"I present to you, Alpha Weston of the Ash River Pack!" The voice of Selen announced and the congregation bowed with a loud howl.

"Young lady, you should show some respect to your Alpha as well." He whispered into my ears, I raised my face slowly to look at him but before I could do that. He pushed me with a great force that sent me to the floor and I landed with a loud thud.

"West..." He cut me short immediately.

"It's Alpha Weston to you." He corrected me. I'm really confused right now. Just a minute ago he said he loves me, so what changed?

"I'm sorry my innocent Melody, but I must tell you the bitter truth, you were indeed a very stupid Alpha, a leader shouldn't lead with emotions, you let your emotions get the better of you." He said right to my face as he bent a little then smirked and stood up and turned to my people, I mean his people.

"I want to thank each and everyone of you for being part of this great day of my life. I want to assure you that you'll never regret trusting me with this position." They all bowed when he was done with his speech.

"A great announcement please,this has to do with my relationship with your former Alpha." He said as he stretched his hand towards me and I took it and stood up.

"I, Alpha Weston Norths of the Ash River Pack, hereby reject you, Melody Brown as my mate!" He announced with a loud voice and as though the universe heard his declaration, lightening appeared on the dark sky accompanied by a loud deafening thunder.
