Chapter 10 Rewarded With A Building

Fifteen thousand one hundred and fifty-eight?

Kyra's shock was evident as she gazed at the waiter, her eyes wide with astonishment.

"What? That can't be right!"

Normally, a meal at Vespertine was pricey, yet within reason, typically costing about a few hundred dollars per person. The leap to over fifteen thousand baffled her.

This staggering sum caused Kyra, previously confident, to lose her composure.

In a hushed tone, she asked, "May I please see the bill?"

"Certainly," the waiter responded.

Reviewing the bill, Kyra found herself speechless. The listed prices for each dish appeared standard, except for one glaring outlier - the red wine priced at fourteen thousand dollars.

Kyra froze where she stood, caught off guard by what she was seeing.

She finally understood the exceptional taste of the wine - it was priced shockingly high!

It would indeed be alarming if it hadn't tasted exquisite.

Thinking about this, Kyra felt a pang of regret.

It was indeed painful, as her commission was only about this much, and she hadn't expected to spend it all on one meal.

The real problem was that her wallet was nearly empty at the moment.

It looked like the only option left was to ask someone for a loan.

With a sense of embarrassment, she said to the waiter, "I'm sorry, I need to use the restroom quickly. I'll be right back to settle the bill."

Without waiting for the waiter to respond, she dashed to the restroom.

Once in the restroom, Kyra hurriedly applied for a loan of fifteen dollars through various platforms.

Life was proving to be an uphill battle.

As she contemplated the impending tight budget for the following month, sadness engulfed her.

Yet, upon her return to pay at the cashier, the waiter greeted her with a smile, saying, "Hello, your bill has been taken care of."

It had been paid already?

Upon hearing this, Kyra thought of Conor. Although she felt a bit happy, she couldn't shake off the feeling of embarrassment.

A sudden realization struck her, prompting a quick return to the private room.

At the same time, Conor stood by the doorway, his eyes fixed on the reward the system had given.

Actually, the moment Conor stepped into Vespertine, the system had already laid out a decision for him to make.

The system hadn't complicated things, offering him only two options - to settle the bill or to walk away from it entirely.

Choosing to pay would reward him with a building.

That decision led Conor to order the expensive red wine, partially to add a bit of excitement to the evening with Kyra.

Life as a wealthy individual often lacked excitement.

This time, his reward was the Horizon Building.

Conor knew Horizon Building well, not because it held any special meaning for him, but simply because the modest company he worked for happened to be tucked inside it.

Towering over the heart of Chasey with more than thirty floors, Horizon Building had an occupancy rate hovering around eighty percent, and its market value was off the charts.

In short, Conor was now a genuine property mogul.

When Kyra reappeared, she teased Conor, saying, "Conor, wasn't it agreed that I'd treat this meal?"

"We've been friends for so long. Does it really matter who pays?" Conor responded with a laugh. Spotting the wine bottle in Kyra's hands, he joked, "Planning to take the leftover wine home?"

"Look at you, the rich guy, and here I am counting pennies. That wine's worth fourteen thousand. Now it's half empty, so it's worth seven thousand. It'd be foolish to leave it," Kyra replied, clutching the bottle even closer as though it might slip away.

Earlier at the table, she had been oblivious to the wine's real value, absorbed in conversation with Conor.

Now aware of its hefty price tag, she was determined to enjoy the rest of it at home.

After dropping Kyra off, Conor didn't head home but drove to Chasey's most luxurious accommodation, the Skyline Hotel.

Previously, he had settled for a small apartment, all in the name of saving up for a home. Now, with his wealth and ownership of a towering building, continuing to live in that same apartment would have made him look utterly foolish.

"Good evening, how can I assist you today?" said the receptionist at the Skyline Hotel with a warm smile.

"Can you reserve a room for me?"

"Of course, what kind of room are you interested in? We offer a variety of rooms like standard and business ones-"

Before the receptionist could list all the options, Conor interjected with a gesture, "Which is your finest room?"

"Our finest? That would be the presidential suite," the receptionist answered instinctively.

"Please book the presidential suite for one month, if that's an option."

"To book the presidential suite for an entire month?"

The receptionist stared at Conor with a mix of surprise and skepticism.

Typically, the presidential suite was reserved through executive assistants, and even then, only for short stays, like a week. A month-long booking was unheard of.

Did he really believe this was just an ordinary apartment?

Though Conor looked the part in his attire, staying in the presidential suite for a month would run upwards of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars!

Yet, adhering to her professional duties, the receptionist courteously responded, "Sir, the presidential suite costs five thousand dollars per night. For a full month, that comes to one and a half hundred thousand dollars. Shall we go ahead with the reservation?"

"Let's secure it for a month to start with."

Conor then presented a bank card and his identification.

A month to start with?

Was he considering even more time after that?

This must be one of the perks of affluence.

Upon learning that the presidential suite was booked for a full month, the hotel manager made his way to the lobby.

"Mr. Sanderson, I am Elvin Graves, the hotel manager, and this is Ellie Burke, your personal butler for the next month. Anything you need, just let her know."

The receptionist watched in awe as Elvin offered a smile of welcome, one so warm that it was nearly unrecognizable. He usually reserved such expressions for the most distinguished guests.

Indeed, with Conor, he acted as if he were welcoming a dear family member, making it hard to believe that his smile was anything but genuine.

Finally, Elvin presented Conor with two bottles of the prestigious Romanée-Conti wine, each valued tens of thousands.

Conor, met by Elvin's hopeful look, resignedly accepted the gift and accompanied Ellie toward the elevator.

"Mr. Sanderson, I'll be at your service for the duration of your stay," Ellie said as they entered the elevator.

Ellie carried the kind of beauty that turned heads, and she was somewhere in her thirties.

"Thank you, I appreciate it," Conor responded with a nod and a gracious smile.

Even though Conor might have appeared like the typical flashy newcomer to wealth, the money never went to his head, and he never allowed it to make him arrogant.

He held the conviction that true wealth was demonstrated through behavior and etiquette, not merely possessions; without these, he would be dismissed as just another flashy nouveau riche.

Upon entering the suite, Conor was astounded by its luxurious decor and vastness.

The suite sprawled over 300 square meters, with a bedroom of more than 80 square meters, enclosed by expansive windows on three sides and an adjoining 20-meter terrace, offering a regal living experience.

From this vantage point, the views of Chasey were spectacular.

The suite boasted state-of-the-art amenities.

It featured Vispring mattresses, Hermès dinnerware, and advanced automated systems.

Previously, Conor had only seen such luxuries online. Now, residing in them, he gained a full appreciation of what a presidential suite entailed.

Even the bathroom was equipped with a Villeroy & Boch smart toilet valued at over seven thousand.

"Mr. Sanderson, I've included you in our presidential suite service group on our platform. This group is staffed with drivers, chefs, and other personnel ready to meet your needs. It will be disbanded upon your departure to ensure your privacy," Ellie said diligently.

"Understood, thank you."

After a brief tour of the suite's features, Ellie excused herself.

Settling onto the plush bed, Conor realized that he was hungry.

He picked up the nearby menu, quickly chose a few snacks, and messaged the selections to the service group. Almost immediately, someone confirmed, and soon, they swiftly delivered the order to his suite.

As Conor was about to enjoy his meal, his phone unexpectedly rang.
