Chapter 7 They found me

I woke up to a wet couch beneath my butt, the smell of my arousal softly filling the air. I rubbed my tired eyes, the event of the previous day slowly seeping into my head.

Fucking Elijah!

He had introduced Monica as his girlfriend, reminding me what a sham our marriage was before he took her into the bedroom we were supposed to share for our honeymoon.

The sounds of her moan and his did nothing to satiate the hunger that had been brewing inside me since the beginning of the day.

"I see Monica was not the only one moaning my name last night," the devil spoke behind me, his hot breath spreading warmth treacherously over my neck as I stood behind the small bar.

"Shut up!" I said, feeling my cheeks heat up for whatever reason.

"How low will you stoop, Elijah? You brought your mistress to your honeymoon few hours after signing your marriage contract! You're a disgusting animal!" my eyes meet his, his eyes turning cold.

"Watch how you speak to me," he said, now closer to me, barely a foot away. Though his expression remained stoic, I knew I had struck a nerve. "I'll bring whoever I want. Fuck who I choose and you'll make no comment about it. Don't act all innocent here..."

"What do you mean?" My voice came out shakily.

"You practically drooled over me like a whore before I saved you the embarrassment of asking me to bed yourself. But let me make one thing clear. You'll never be half of the woman she is. This isn't a fairytale marriage so don't even bother thinking I'll treat you like my wife. Right now, you're nothing but a collateral to me and the only thing keeping you alive is the child you carry." he glared at me.

"I want out of this marriage. I would rather burn in hell than remain in this marriage and play this sick game with you," I said, not willing to crumble at his hurtful words.

"Be careful what you wish for, hell might be too close by and your burns wouldn't even be a third degree, princess," he said before turning back to stroll out of the room. Just as he was about to open the door to the bedroom, he turned back, his long legs reaching me before I could blink.

"We would be having our first dinner party tonight. The press will be there, so get prepared," he announced.

"I'm not going anywhere as your wife. I already said I wanted a di_" before I could finish my sentence, I felt his hand wrap around my throat.

"Refuse my order one more time and watch how I'll ruin your life. You'll be going to that dinner as my wife, acting like my wife. Your smile should be brighter than the media's flash. And if there's any rumour of the marriage being a sham, I won't care if you're the cause. I'll make you wish you were the one that died that day," he said, finally release his hold on my neck before leaving me alone the second time.

I felt lightheaded immediately, struggling to keep my feet on the ground. I quickly walked to the couch, sitting down.

Different questions went through my head but the one that stood out the most was if Elijah knew what had happened to me in the past.

"You shouldn't take his threat lightly. He never gives empty threats." I heard someone say by my side. I looked over to see Monica staring at her nails, a sly smile on her face. I turned back, ignoring her statement.

I have to escape, and I think the dinner party is the perfect excuse.

The dinner party

"Smile, laugh, and pretend you're having the time of your life," Elijah said for the millionth time.

"Fuck off! I'm doing my best," I said in between forced grins, slightly bowing my head when I see an elderly couple walk by.

"Of course you are," he replied back before I felt a pinch on my ass.

My eyes widened slightly, blood rushing to my cheeks and crotch. "Did you just pinch my ass?"

Without replying he grabbed my waist turning me to the side. Suddenly a man approached us, looking formal like the rest of the people in the room.

Elijah introduced us, surprising me with a kiss on the cheek. I guess his reputation was more important than his ego.

Just when they began to talk about business, I tuned them out. I looked around the room, noticing how everyone seemed to be talking to someone, a glass of wine resting on their hands.

The flashing lights from the paparazzi almost blinded me, but I did not fail to recognise the skinny woman standing near the bar. Her eyes pierced into mine as she took a sip of her wine.

"Monica," I hadn't even realised when her name left my lips. I was that livid.

What was she doing here? This is supposed to be my party. Is Elijah going to bring her to every outing of ours?

I knew I sounded like a jealous wife but I couldn't help the hatred that brew inside me.

I needed to get out of here. I still needed to find a way to escape.

I turned to Elijah who I now realised was no longer talking to the man but was now scrolling on his phone, a slight frown on his face. I longed to wipe it off his handsome face.

"I need to go to the restroom," I said, looking up at him.

"To do what?" He asked without taking his eyes from his phone.

"To relieve myself?... What? Am I not worthy enough to do that too?" I spat.

He looked at me for a slight second before rolling his eyes and looking down at his phone. "Don't call me if you slip and hit your head."

I scoffed, releasing my hand from his arm before I walked towards the door I believed the restroom was located.

Just as I continued to walk, I felt someone eyes me. I looked at my side to see Monica smirking. Suddenly I felt a chill go through me. I couldn't shake the feeling that she was up to something.

Just as I turned away from her, I heard someone scream before a loud sound resonated throughout out the hall. I looked back to see some men in masks bursting through the door, their eyes searching for someone.

Me.

They were here... they had finally found me.

I stood there frozen, looking at them, even when one of them pointed their gun at me before I saw him pull the trigger.

I closed my eyes, awaiting my doom.
