Chapter 2 It's positive

Three weeks later

"It's positive," my hands shook as I stared at my best friend with tears filled eyes.

"Oh baby..." Tiffany, my bff, stood up quickly, her arms quickly engulfing me in a warm hug.

"What do I do?" I sobbed into her top.

"Don't cry, it's not your fault. You didn't know it would happen", she tried to reassure me. "Come here," she dragged me to my bed, sitting me down.

"What's your plan now?" Tiffany asked, her gaze soft on mine.

"I don't know. I can't keep a baby. I can't even fend for myself"

"I know, Maya. But you should know I'm here to support you. I'm here for you, girl. You don't have to get rid of it"

"It's not just about the money. I don't know if I can mother a child. I never grew up with one, you know that," I said, sniffing in the process.

"I know, baby. Look, you're the most amazing person in the world. You're kind, caring, strong and selfless, and I'm sure taking care of a child would never be a struggle for you. And if eventually things start to seem a bit hard, you have me. I mean, I don't think there's any mother out there that doesn't face any struggle bringing up a child," she said.

"I'm not sure about this, Tee. But thank you. That means a lot," I told her.

"You don't have to decide now. You still have time," she smiled as she rubbed my shoulder soothingly.

"Yeah" I smiled back, the load of the child in my belly now lighter.

"Maya... what about the father?" Tiffany finally asked. I had been hoping she wouldn't ask me about it. It's not like I wanted to keep anything from her, I just didn't know what to tell her. All I knew about him was his name. It was just a one-night stand, there wasn't any need for me to go all FBI on him.

"What do you mean?" I asked, acting like I didn't know what she was talking about.

Ever since that night, I couldn't get him out of my mind. I had even gone to the club several times hoping I would be lucky to see him, but I wasn't that lucky. Elijah roamed my mind, day and night. His touch, his kisses were a constant reminder of how good he had made me felt that night. I cursed myself every second for running away that morning. My insecurity made me do it.

"Don't play dumb with me, girl. What do you know about the father?" She scowled.

I bowed my head in shame, "I don't know anything about him. It was a one-night stand, remember," I scoffed.

"Oh...the one-night stand guy? Did you meet up with him again?" she asked, one of her brows raised.

"No. I haven't slept with any other guy since that night."

"So you don't even know where he stays or works?"

"I only know his name. We didn't really get to talk that night," I shook my head, mad at myself for making such a mistake. How did I forget to remind him to use protection? How could he be so dumb too?!

"Was he that fine, uhn?" Tiffany teased, her lips slightly curved into a smirk.

"Shut up!" My cheeks quickly flamed red. "I just didn't want him to think anything about what we were doing."

"Now look at what your nonchalant self got you into," she mumbled quietly, hoping I wouldn't hear, but I clearly did. I threw her a dirty look before sighing. She was right. This was all my fault. I should have at least made some sort of inquiry about him before spreading my legs wide open like a f*c*ing wh*re.

"I'm so f*c*ing stupid, Tee" I groaned into my hands, the tears threatening to flood again.

"Yes, you are, but it's okay. We have a lead now," she said, standing up and walked towards my work table before grabbing my MacBook.

She plopped herself back on my bed before opening the computer.

"What are you do-" I started to say, but she quickly interrupted me.

"What's his name girl?" She asked before opening Instagram.

"Elijah Ryker," I said. She gave me a look before typing it on the computer.

"You knew his full name all along, and you stood there crying like a fuc**ng hyena?" She asked incredulously.

"Shut up, Tee. Show me some pity." I couldn't help the laugh that stumbled out of my mouth. One of the many reasons I loved Tiffany.

She continued to search for him. She showed me a couple of pictures of people who had the same name, but I kept telling her they weren't the ones. At some point, she got tired, and I also got fed up.

"Is he an illegal immigrant?" she suggested. I shook my head, not believing that. Elijah didn't look like an illegal immigrant.

In fact, he looked the opposite. He looked wealthy and powerful, like someone who commanded respect at every turn.

"I'm not sure, Tee," I responded. I continued to stare at the computer as she scrolled on the different guys. Just as she was about to close the tab, my eyes saw him.

Elijah. He wore a dark suit like the last time I saw him.

"Stop!" I shouted.

"What?" She shrieked, clearly surprised at my sudden outburst.

"That's him!" I pointed at him on the screen.

"It says Elijah Tyler here, Maya," She looked at me like I was dumb.

"Yeah, Elijah Ryker is clearly a mistake. That's him, I'm a hundred percent sure."

"You lucky fool, you weren't lying. He's damn fine...and rich."

"He's the CEO of Tyler's electronics?" I gasped.

"You need to meet him," my friend said.

"What if he rejects me? What if he doesn't want this child? F*ck, I am not even sure I want this child myself." I started to hyperventilate. Tiffany gave me a knock on my head, bringing me back to my senses.

"You're going to walk in there and demand his attention. Yes, you guys made a mistake by not using any protection, but the deed is done. You're one of the most beautiful ladies out there. If he rejects you, it will only prove how stupid he is," Tiffany gave me a push.

I looked at her, wondering what my fate was about to turn to? I was scared of my future, I was scared of the baby inside me...but what scared me most was the fact I was already imagining a life with Elijah. The thought sent sweet thrills to my spine.

I stood up from the bed, my back hurting from crouching all along. Just then, my phone went off with a new notification.

'Surprise! We found you, Astrid Grey...', the text read. The phone fell out of my hand, crashing hard on the floor.
