Chapter 40 Forever Yours

Chapter 41 Epilogue: The Life We Chose

/ 1

Logan had spent enough time around men like Richard Sinclair to know one thing-powerful men with secrets always had something to lose. And if they had something to lose, that meant there was a way to bring them down.
He just had to find it.
Digging for the Truth
Logan spent his nights in his room, combing through every scrap of information he could find on Richard Sinclair. Business deals, offshore accounts, political connections-on the surface, Richard was clean. Too clean.
That only made Logan more certain the man had something to hide.
His instincts were proven right when he tapped into the security system. The Sinclair estate had an extensive network of cameras, but what caught his attention wasn't what they recorded-it was the areas they didn't cover.
There were blind spots. Specific rooms where footage was either erased or never recorded at all.
And one of them was Richard's office.
A Risky Move
Late one night, long after Richard had gone to bed, Logan made his move. He slipped through the darkened halls, bypassing the security sensors with ease.
The office door was locked, but that wasn't a problem. A few seconds with a pick, and he was in.
The room smelled of expensive whiskey and leather, dimly lit by the city lights filtering through the window. Logan went straight to the desk, searching through drawers, files, anything that seemed out of place.
Then he found it.
A hidden compartment.
Inside, a flash drive and a folder. Logan grabbed both and slipped out of the room just as silently as he had entered.
Back in his own quarters, he plugged in the drive, his jaw tightening as he scrolled through its contents.
Bank transfers to unregistered accounts. Offshore holdings. Blackmail material on politicians and business rivals.
And then, the real proof-transactions tied to known criminals.
Richard wasn't just a controlling husband. He was dirty. Deep in illegal dealings, bribery, and possibly even worse.
Logan's gut twisted. He had been searching for a way to help Eleanor, and now, he had it.
Richard Sinclair wasn't untouchable.
A Glimpse of Freedom
The next morning, Logan found Eleanor in the garden, standing beneath the morning sun, her arms wrapped around herself.
She turned when he approached, offering a small, tired smile. "You always find me out here."
He studied her for a long moment. She looked fragile, but there was something else in her eyes now-something new.
Determination.
"You told me you wanted to be free," Logan said quietly.
Eleanor held his gaze. "I do."
He hesitated before stepping closer, lowering his voice. "Then listen carefully. Richard isn't as powerful as he wants you to believe."
Her breath hitched. "What do you mean?"
Logan glanced around, making sure they were alone. "I have proof. Illegal dealings, offshore accounts. If we use it the right way, we can bring him down."
For the first time, real hope flickered across her face.
But just as quickly, fear returned. "If he finds out..."
"He won't," Logan assured her. "Not until it's too late."
Eleanor swallowed hard. She had spent years convinced there was no way out, no way to escape the man who owned her.
But now, standing beside Logan, she realized something.
Maybe, just maybe, she wasn't powerless after all.
