Gwen's phone tightened around her hands as the plane touched down Chicago.
The rays of the sunlight stretched through the window, but she felt no comfort in the glow.
She couldn't wait to get to the Patricks house. Her hands were itching due to lack of patience and she tapped the back of her phone endlessly.
Just like before, she made sure she disguised herself, wearing a black coat, beneath it was a blue T shirt, and a pair of black trousers, with a face cap which covered a good amount of her face.
As soon as she got down from the plane, she hailed down one of the taxis and gave the driver the address to the Patricks home.
With each mile, the knot in her stomach tightened and the warm air she released into the atmosphere to calm her nerves intensified.
"What audacity!"
She howled loudly, not minding the driver.
The driver, giving her a concerned look to know if everything was okay with her, but she didn't bat an eye to him.
She was too hitched in rage to care.
She hadn't had peace since she got married into that family, and all thanks to Leticia and Sane.
Leticia especially.
Thinking about the cold glares she had thrown her way even when she had tried to please her, she couldn't help but scoff.
She had been a lying dog for too long, and now, not anyone.
This time she wasn't coming to beg the Patricks anymore, She was coming for justice.
Shortly, the driver pulled up at the towering mansion, and Gwen climbed out, barely waiting for the vehicle to stop.
She stepped into the house, and as expected, Leticia was seated at the house lounge, watching an opera and sipping red juice.
Gwen knew she'd find her there. It was Leticia's favorite place to be in the house.
And watching operas was what she spent almost all her day doing.
She had no actual job other than sit and watch entertainments, spend money from the huge Patricks legacy and cause troubles.
As soon as Gwen stepped in, Leticia barely flinched. Instead, she sat her cup down and maintained her elegance. Eyes still glued to the television.
Gwen's blood boiled at her nonchalance.
"You witch! You bought my licensing spot, didn't you?"
Leticia scoffed, and raised an eyebrow in surprise, feigning ignorance.
"Tell me why I would do that. It's not like I'm a medical doctor."
"You did it and you know it, so don't even pretend like you don't know what I'm talking about!"
Gwen's voice roared into the air.
Her fist trembled and her blood boiled harder.
"I still don't know what you're talking about, brat. Of what need will your stupid medical license be to me?"
Gwen scoffed, "you're not just a conniving witch, you're a liar too? Huh? Tell me what are you afraid of? That people will find out how much of a horrible person you are? Huh?"
She stopped to calm herself a bit because she was already losing it.
She knew her husband wouldn't be happy to see her scolding his mother in that manner, but she couldn't help it.
Leticia had obviously done too much and needed to face the heat.
"You're asking why you'd do that? Huh? You'll do it because you never want me to succeed. Because you don't think I'm good enough for your precious son. Because you want to frustrate me! That is why you did what you did, Leticia! But I swear I'll fight this. You can't have your way like you always do."
Leticia leaned forward, eyes glinting with cruelty.
She let out a soft mocking laugh.
"Oh brat, poor little brat." She crossed her legs and raised the wine glass again to take a sip.
This time, Gwen watched with so much disgust. She couldn't fathom how she managed to be this calm. One thing it was, Leticia was evil. Only one filled with evil would manage to be this calm after dealing with someone that way.
"You'll never practice medicine, Gwen. Never! No matter where you apply or what you do, I'll make sure you get denied over and over. So if I were you, I'll give up immediately, because you know I have all the money to make that happen."
Leticia spat. Her words felt like a slap in Gwen's face.
She couldn't fathom the cruelty.
"No, you can't, Leticia, you know you can't. This is my life and I detect what happens, not you."
"I have already done it, Gwen, haha ha ha, I won."
She howled.
She stood up and walked towards the window while smiling evilly.
Gwen's eyes were now filled with tears but she wouldn't allow it to fall.
Leticia wasn't worth her tears. Yea, she used to cry for her in the past, but not anymore.
"What have I ever done to you other than love your son?"
She managed to find her voice again, but Leticia's voice came again immediately, shutting her off.
"You pushed my darling, daughter in law down the stairs. Isn't that crime enough for me to make sure you don't even appear at the shores of the hospital as a doctor?"
"But you know I didn't push her? I know you know somewhere in your heart that she made that up."
Leticia threw her face away immediately.
Off course, Selina's falling was planned by her and Selina, to be able to justify kicking Gwen out of the house.
"You pushed Gwen, that's the narrative and it must remain that way."
Her voice came with an evil smirk on her face. This broke Gwen the more.
"How cruel can you-"
A slow clap echoed from the doorway, interrupting her.
Selina was now at the lounge, her hands rubbing her stomach.
"You heard her right? You pushed me, that's the narrative and it must remain that way. "
She stated, sternly.
"By the way, have you seen how your news has been making headlines?"
"You two are unbelievably evil."
Gwen croaked.
Immediately, a deep familiar voice echoed from the entrance.
"What is going on here?"
Oliver's voice came.
Gwen turned to her husband in excitement, but his face fell as soon as he saw her.
"What are you doing here, Gwen?"
