Chapter 6 Sixth Chapter.

Though she doesn't want to have anything to do with any man now, now that her mother is in the hospital, and she needed money urgently, she needed to sign the contract for marriage with the man she had a one night stand with coincidentally.

The one million dollars is kind of much and even after she pays her mother hospital bills, she would still have money with her. She went through the paper again and sighed heavily, though she never planned to do this, but she couldn't afford to lose her mother and the money sounds too much more than to lose.

"Is it that this is your first contract marriage or a lot of ladies have been signing contracts with you" Laura was shocked, how he brought out the file immediately she talked about needing his help, so she had to ask in order to know what's going on.

"Well, I do not think that matters right now, but if you think it matters, this is my first time, are you signing or not?" Carson asked.

Laura took a deep breath, the weight of her decision pressing down on her shoulders. "I... I'll sign it," she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper. "But there's something I need to tell you."

Carson raised an eyebrow, his expression remaining stoic. "And what's that?"

"The night we spent together... I was drugged. I don't remember anything. I'm sorry if that changes things for you, but I thought you should know."

Carson's gaze hardened.

"That changes nothing. You are aware that I helped you that night, so I am fully aware about this, regardless, the contract stands.

"But some things are still getting me surprised. How did you know about my mum's health? How did you know I would be coming here to ask for help to get the file ready? I still don't get it. You said you have your ways, but how do you know, can you tell me?" She asked, worriedly.

Carson smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I have my ways, as I said, are you signing or not Laura, I have got many things to do, I just want to offer help, if you think it actually worth signing, then go on" Carson said, his gone was casual, but Laura is not getting it.

"Alright, I'll sign it" She took the pen and carefully signed it after reading it.

Carson collected the file from her and kept it.

"So I need to go home...."

"Didn't you read the paper very well?" Carson interrupted.

"What's that?" She asked curiously.

Carson gave her the file again, "Open to the next slide, read it carefully, this time carefully and silently"

Laura seems serious this time and he read out loudly, "Once the contract is signed, you are mine, though it's not necessary intimately, but once it's signed you start living in my house, we present ourselves like couple in the presence of my parents, the clothes and everything you needed is available in my house, once it's signed, we are going to my house"

"Huh, what did I just read out, was it blurry before I signed? Or what is this?" She asked herself

Carson's smile widened, bordering on sinister. "Oh, it was there all along, Laura. I'm a man of details. You just missed it in your haste to sign." He snapped the file closed, as if to emphasize his point.

"No, I wasn't in a haste to sign anything, you were the one telling me to sign it and that you have things to do, I wasn't in a haste to sign it"

"And you know there's nothing to do at this moment. You need to help your mum, she's at the hospital and would you watch her at the hospital doing nothing when there's something you could do to save her? No, so if you had told me you wanted to read carefully and you did read it, do you have a choice than to still sign"

"Yes, I get, I had nothing to do even if I sees it at first, it's fine, so how do we start, are we starting from going to your parents house, and please before anything can you please transfer the money to me so I can go and pay my mum's hospital fee, she's the reason I am signing this, so I need to pay it in a haste'

Carson's smile didn't waver, but there was a slight softening in his eyes. "Of course, Laura. I wouldn't want your mother's health to deteriorate because of a delay on my part." He pulled out his phone, pressed his bank app, "Press your account details here"

She pressed it and he transferred the sum of one million dollars to her.

"Oooh! I have seen It, thank you my contract husband, thank you, now you have done your part, don't worry about mine, I'll also do it"

She took up her phone and dialed the number.

"Hello" the doctor said, when he picked up.

"Hello, this is Laura, I have sent money to your account, kindly check"

"Alright, a minute, I'll call you back, let me confirm from the accountant"

As Laura held the phone, her heart racing with the knowledge that her mother's health was hanging in the balance, Carson gave her a small smile. "It seems you care a great deal for your mother. That's admirable."

Laura nodded, her mind still focused on the call. After what felt like an eternity, the doctor called back.

"Hello Laura, your payment has been confirmed and we would continue taking care of mum, don't forget to pray for her too"

"I won't and please, try your best, I know you just try your best, GOD is the one that can do it"

"That's just it, we hope to see you soon too"

"You are welcome and when you need anything, do not hesitate to ask please, thank you very much"
