Chapter 5 Fifth Chapter.

It was an unknown number.

"Hello, who is this?" Laura asked.

"Do you like the gifts I sent you?" Laura paused; she could identify the voice immediately. It was the powerful billionaire, Carson Grey, the man she had a one-night stand with last night.

"I don't understand; whatever happened yesterday was a mistake. We only had a one-night stand and didn't have anything serious going on. Please don't get other thoughts; just tell me where you live, and I will send back your gifts." She made her point clear.

"You are the woman of I, Carson Grey, and all my women are entitled to receive gifts from me." He declared in an authoritative voice.

"I am not and will never be your woman; please don't call this line again." She disconnected the call. Anna, who was beside her, had already heard their conversation.

"Laura, I think it will be better if you tread carefully; these rich men are not simple. It will be better to find an easy way to resolve this," she advised.

Laura was about to reply before her phone rang again; she picked up her phone angrily thinking it was Carson, but when she looked at the screen, she became serious immediately because the caller was her mom's doctor.

"Hello, Doctor Michael, is anything the problem?" She asked, hoping that nothing had happened to her mom again; she had been sick for a long time and had been in the hospital for two months now.

"Indeed, Laura, there's indeed a huge problem. The surgery can't be held on; if we don't perform it within the next four days, then you should forget it." He didn't continue, but Laura could already understand what he meant.

She started perspiring; if she had to give everything she had to save her mother, she wouldn't mind doing it. The two had been a lovely pair of mother and daughter; they were inseparable. But the amount for the surgery wasn't something she could afford, even if she sells herself.

Seven hundred thousand dollars! She didn't even have up to fifty thousand dollars from all her savings; even though she had been signed by Headway Entertainment, she was still a new signee and hadn't even received her salary yet.

"I have heard you, Doctor Michael; I will try to think of a way to come up with the money." She said before disconnecting the phone.

"What's the matter?" Anna asked. Laura told her. She was silent for a while before making a suggestion. "Why not try to borrow from Carson?"

"What! Are you mad? We barely know each other; what nonsense are you talking about?" She scolded.

"Calm down, I mean he is a very wealthy billionaire, and besides, you just said that he declared you his woman. Maybe he wouldn't think much of it. After all, the money might be a huge amount for us but might mean nothing to him." She tried to convince Laura.

Laura felt a huge headache; all her mind was against the advice, but right now she couldn't be sentimental. She had vowed never to take advantage of anybody in her life, but it seems like she was going to break her vow today.

Tears escaped her eyes; she steeled her heart and dialed his number. After a few rings, he picked up.

"Hello, Carson... I have something... to..." She stammered continuously not knowing how to begin.

"Oh, it's you Laura, are you that eager to be my woman? You're missing me already, right?" He mocked. She clenched her fist angrily. She felt like punching something right now.

"It's not it; I want your help, Carson." It took her all her courage to make this sentence.

"Oh, I understand, it's about your mom, right?" He said.

"What! How did you... Wait, does it mean you knew I would call?" She was shocked.

"Don't bother asking how I knew; I have my ways. I will give you money for your mom's surgery and even give you more on one condition."

"What condition?" She asked, hoping it wasn't something so hard.

"Come to Westview restaurant, the first place we met; I will tell you the condition." He didn't tell her immediately.

"Okay, should I come?" She asked nervously.

"I am already there," he answered. She disconnected the phone and hurriedly grabbed her purse and rushed outside.

"Where are you going?" Anna shouted behind her. "To meet him; it won't take time." She replied.

A few minutes later, she was dropped in front of Westview restaurant by a cab. She paid for her cab fare and hurried inside the hotel. There, she saw Carson sitting in the same position they sat the other day. He looked so handsome that it was almost unbelievable. She wondered how a man could look this handsome. Immediately she suppressed her thoughts and came to where he was sitting and sat opposite him.

"I am sorry for being rude to you on the phone."

"No need," Carson waved his hands. "It's nothing to me," he added.

"I understand; I need your help, and I am ready to do whatever you need. I can't allow anything to happen to my mom; I love her so much." She cried.

Carson smiled and brought out a file; he took out a document from the file and gave it to her.

"What is this?" She asked curiously and carefully took it from me.

"It's the condition. Open it and read it for yourself." He said.

She nodded and quietly opened it. After reading a few paragraphs, her expression changed. She looked shocked.

"You want us to sign a contract for marriage?" She asked to make sure she read right.

"Yes," Carson confirmed. Laura heaved a sigh; she knew she would pay a price for this money, but it wasn't something like this. The contract stated that she only had to act as his wife for a year. He will pay a million dollars once she signs the contract, and another million dollars after one year.

It was too good to be true. It also stated that they can't interfere with each other's personal life. She had been prepared to be his woman if that was his condition.

So why won't she choose this condition that looked so good to be true.
