Chapter 4 THE ARRANGEMENT

LILY'S POV

As I walked down the stairs, I wondered to myself, what could be so important that couldn't wait till tomorrow? I mean it was already late in the night; it was half past ten in the night.

When I got to the sitting room everyone was already in a sitting position. I hurriedly went to sit beside my mum in order not to delay the conversation.

"So, what are we all about to discuss?" I posed a question to my dad.

"Well, Lily....since you're about turning eighteen, and would soon be the new leader of the mafia group, we've decided to merge both our groups."

My dad said to me.

"That's wonderful, isn't it?" I turned to my mum and asked.

"Well, honey it's not as simple as you think it is." My mum said to me.

"Well, why is that?" I asked.

"The thing is that we're merging our groups because we have a common enemy, which for sure you can take down on your own." My dad said.

"So to take down this enemy we need to merge." My dad said.

"And the only for us way to merge; is by you two getting married." My dad said.

"What? that's not happened." I said as I stood up.

"Can you stop yelling?" Zavier asked. "It's just an arrangement." He added.

"Easy for you to say. Since you're already a mafia boss, you're already used to such a thing. It's what you do for a living." I snapped at Zavier.

"Calm down honey, we aren't done yet." My dad said.

"You guys want me to get married to an arrogant man, yet that isn't even enough, you still want to add more requests. The cherry on top, heh?" I said.

"I'm just 17 years of age and....and I don't even like him," I added.

"Who said anything about liking anyone," Zavier said to me in a flash.

"It's people like you who have no emotion and base their relationships on business not on love, but I'm not such a person," I said.

"At least I have the right to find love. Or don't I? I posed a question to no one specifically.

"Lily can you at least give us a listening ear." My mum asked.

"Oh yeah, sure, I can," I said as I sat down back on the chair. "There's a contract." My dad began as he handed me some documents.

"It states that after five years of being together and having defeated our common enemies, you can decide to get a divorce," Derrick said.

"So what do you think?" My dad asked as I went through the file.

"You said it yourself that you don't want to get into a relationship until you're old enough, and that for the main time, you want to learn more about the business. Well, this is your best shot at learning more about the business." My dad said to me.

"How's this my best shot?" I asked my dad feeling a bit confused.

"Well, firstly you'll gain lots of learning experience from this contractual marriage since it's more like a mission. And Zavier here is going to help you out with some things" My dad added.

"Like what?" I asked.

"Find out yourself." My dad said as he handed me a pen.

"I'll think about it," I said as I took the pen from my dad, stood up, and left for my room with the contract.
