Chapter 5 The look

I was thinking going to Wallingford was going to be just the both of us, I never envisioned that Ariana was going to be there too. Damn It. He was going to shop for her, before we all go back to school, not like we are going far away from eachother, we are all going to be in the same school, and she will see him all the time, so why does she have to go to the place with us, when she will always have time with him? I was not happy, when he told me that he was at the restaurant, waiting for me to join them. When I heard the plural word 'Them'.

I didn't need anyone to tell me whom it is that is there with him, I also didn't want to sound angry, because I know I promised that I was going to accept her, as long as she doesn't hurt him.

I got to the Wallingford restaurant, and didn't have to look for them, because off course, they were seated comfortably at the VIP section, but I noticed that it isn't just Ariana that was there, someone else was seated there with them, infact two persons. This is looking like a group outing, and I didn't feel happy about it at all, but I had to feign being happy. I smiled, but my smile changed, when I saw Jason with them. Myles could tell the reason my look changed, so he got up immediately to speak to me. I haven't seen him since that night, and I really do not want to see him.

"What is he doing here? I asked angrily, as soon as he got to me.

"He came by the house last night, asking to speak to you, he is just here to apologize to you, so please allow him apologize to you, and then he can leave". I looked around and noticed that there was another guy seated there with them, it was a full table.

"And who is that? I asked him, and he told me the guy is Ariana's cousin, who is going to be staying with her, for three months, since he is running a program around the town.

I waved at the known faces, and then, sat close to Myles, as I didn't feel comfortable sitting close to Jason, but clearly Ariana was looking angrily at me, and though she had her smiles on, I could tell when one is really smiling from the heart.

I had barely sat down, when Jason got up from his seat and went on his knees. He was going to embarrass me by going on his knees, I looked around me, and then I unconsciously held on to Myles' right hand.

"Kiara, I am so sorry, for what I did to you the night of our prom, that was so uncalled for, please can you forgive me? I looked around and noticed that Ariana was angry, she couldn't even hide it, but when our eyes lock, she looked away, as though she wasn't looking at me. Myles shook my hands to bring me back to reality that someone is kneeling for me.

"I forgive you Jason, I am no longer angry with you". I said and tried looking away, but he seem to have another request.

"That is great, then you wouldn't have an issue, taking me back into your life right? He asked and I opened my eyes wide, like he just said the unspeakable. Myles once again sqweezed my hands, as if telling me to accept, I really couldn't tell what the hand signal was all about, so I had to say what I never planned to say.

"I am sorry Jason, but that won't be possible". I started, he looked disappointed, and Ariana also looked disappointed, but the new guy, who is Ariana's cousin, kept smiling, as though he understands everything going on.

"That means you haven't really forgiven me have you?

"I have forgiven you, but I cannot take you back, because I am seeing someone". I said and this time, even Myles looked shocked, he stared into my eyes and I nodded as to affirm what I just said, then he whispered into my ears.

"And why am I just learning that you are dating someone? It was supposed to be a whisper, but it was loud enough for Ariana to hear.

"Yes, why are we just learning about this? She added.

"Because I am still checking, you know, we just started dating, I need to check and double check, before announcing it to you guys". Myles could tell I was lying, but it went well with Jason, who accepted his fate.

"Anyways, I guess that is my loss. I lost a wonderful girl in you, I will have to live with the guilt for the rest of my life". He sounded sober, but there is no way, I will go back to dating someone I clearly do not love, and I already made it clear to him that I never loved him, so why he would even ask to come back to me, is what I don't understand, and asking something like that In public, didn't he know he could get his heart broken with my response?

"So when is your big brother going to meet this Wonderful person? Myles asked, stressing the topic further, I didn't know what to say, but I had to just give him an answer somehow.

"Soonest brother". I answered simply. Jason seem to be getting uncomfortable with everything happening around him, that he had to excuse himself.

"I guess I will see you guys around". He says and walked away, even before we could get the chance to say anything. Myles waited for him to leave before he spoke up, facing me.

"You really do know how to break a man's heart. don't you?

"He broke mine first". I defended, but he fired back.

"He told me you said you never loved him".

"I said that to get back at him, because he slapped me in public". I argued further.

"So are you saying you loved him, and you are just angry? I really do not know where he was going with what he was saying, but I could see that he was ready for me, even though I liked the fact that he left his girlfriend and is attending to me, but Ariana had to clear her throat to get his attention back to her.

"Hello, we are here, and this table isn't about you two". She wasn't very happy, but her cousin kept smiling.

"Sorry dear". Myles said holding her close. He kissed her cheek, while I excused myself to go to the rest room, but by the time I got back, I met a terrible sight. Myles was sneezing non stop, and I know it is only a matter of time before he starts throwing up, if he doesn't get Mango juice close to him. It was his favorite, and he must have taken something he was allergic to. I didn't bother asking them anything, I had the restaurant attendant, get me a Mango juice, mixed with Menthol sweet, and in seconds, he was back to normal, he hugged me, for understanding him better, and I felt so alive in his embrace, before Ariana came in between us and hugged him. Her cousin also looked worried.

"I was so worried". She says. though he hugged her back, his eyes was fixated on mine.

What I am looking at, was it gratitude or falling inlove, I really couldn't tell, but I didn't want to get the wrong message so I looked away.

The rest of the day was quiet, with me taking things that I need, but I noticed that Myles kept looking at me, like he was seeing me for the first time. I loved the attention, but Ariana wouldn't even allow me enjoy the moment, she kept kissing him and holding him so close like he was running away.
