Chapter 4 He made it clear that I am only a friend

The next week held so many good byes, from those that have received their mails from the schools they applied to.

I for one, regretted not choosing schools that were far from the state I stay, I chose the same school, he chose. We have the chance to choose at least two schools, making one first choice, and the other second choice. He also chose the same school I chose, as a matter of fact, he filled the entry form for me. He told me he didn't want to be away from me, and I clearly didn't want to be away from him, but staying with him and having him throw dog food at me all the time. is that what I plan to get for another five years? I wasn't sure, so I started making preparations to change school. I was sure I will get into one of the schools chosen for me by Myles, because of their status and wealth, but I could seek to be transferred from that school to another school.

Ariana didn't go far, she gained admission into one of the schools I have chosen, when I heard about hers, I frowned, because I am sure, Myles had something to do with it. I was even scared of checking mine, but Myles called me to tell me that he just checked mine for me and that I had been granted admission into the same school as his. I didn't sound so excited about the news, and I didn't hide the reason I felt so bad.

"I also heard Ariana got admitted into Silver hill". I told him and he sighs. They had graduated from just wanting to have fun with eachother, to dating seriously again, and I was no longer seeing Myles as much as I used to see him.

"Kiara, I thought we talked about this already? He asked, reminding me that we have had this discussion, where I told him I didn't want him to have anything to do with Ariana, because she could never love him the way he deserves, but he defended her and even warned me never to speak ill of her again.

"No problems, I was hoping I could get a transfer". I said. He was so furious hearing me sound that way.

"Kiara, I know you don't like Ariana, but she is my choice, you should accept her, if you are truely my friend, and if she is the reason you want a transfer, then I could help facilitate the transfer and make it come even faster". He says and without waiting for me to speak, he ends the call.

I kept looking at the phone, and looking back as though he was standing there and looking at me. Ariana was putting a strain on our friendship, and not because of my feelings for him, but because she doesn't love him, and she will hurt him again, just the way she hurt him before.

I thought it is just his normal way of behaving and that he would call me later in the evening, but I was surprised that he didn't call. Hours later, I received a mail from the school asking if I requested for a change of school, that if I did, I should sign the documents sent to me. I knew he had a hand in that, but I couldn't sign, not until I speak with him. I started calling him, hoping he would take my call, but he didn't take my call. I knew he was seeing the calls, but was ignoring them on purpose, so I decided to send him a message. It reads.

"Dear Myles, I am so sorry I am trying to force you to accept my opinion of the kind of woman you should be with, you should know that I am just worried about you, and I really would not want to see you hurt again, but if you believe that Ariana is changed and she will treat you better, then I don't think I have a choice, I accept". I think he read the message, because he started calling almost immediately, the message showed delivered.

"I am sorry too, I didn't mean to ignore your call, it's just that I was angry". I could understand that, then he gently asked me.

Do you really want to change school? somehow, from his tone, I could tell he really doesn't want me to leave, and I didn't want to leave too.

"Not anymore". I replied.

I might want to go far, but without him, I wouldn't be able to go anywhere. He seem very happy about what I told him, that he screamed into my ears.

"That means you will be available this weekend, I want to take you out, before the semester begins. You will have new things and all the boys will be falling head over heels in love with you". He says, this time, it was my turn to scream.

"You know where I would want to go to right? I asked.

"You love the Wallingford more than anyother place in the world". He replied, as if I have tried other part of the world, he is the billionaire's son, he is the one that have travelled around the world, not me, but he was right, the Wallingford is my best. Their food is the best, and the other side of the mall, they have the best perfume, best dress, and shoes. If Myles is the one taking me out, then I don't feel scared, he will buy me everything I point, he is that sweet.

After the call, I was holding on to the phone, while my mother stood watching me.

"How long do you think you will keep up with this? She asked, but I only held the phone close to my heart.

"I cannot tell him mum. He is this happy because I have promised to support him and to go along with his choice, there is no way I can tell him now that I love him, he clearly doesn't feel that way for me". I explained, but she seem to be willing to make me see reasons from her point of view.

"What if he is also worried that he might loose the friendship you both share, and that is why he isn't saying anything? My mother asked, and somehow I wanted to believe her, but anytime I feel he might have some feelings for me, I remember the look he gave me the day I tried saying something like that. He didn't look happy at all, and he clearly doesn't look like he feels that way for me, so I rather keep my feelings to myself, and hope that I will be able to forget him soon.

"Don't worry about me mum. This is my cross, and I am willing to carry it. I love Myles enough to see him happy with Ariana, and so far, she has been good, I don't think I have seen anything awkward, though I don't trust her, but since he does, I shouldn't worry". I said to her, then got up and kissed her before she would argue further.

I got to my room and found myself dreaming about him. His lips was so cold against mine, and his hands electrified me, but even in the dream, I knew I was dreaming, so it was pointless hoping for reality. I know I can only dream of him, but it could never happen in real life.

He has made it clear, I am only his best friend.
