Chapter 4 Becoming CEO

Jess woke up to the noisey ringing of her alarm, jerking up, she finally woke up from her nightmare, she calmed herself by breathing in and out a couple of times, then noticed the time, "oh my God, am gonna be late" she had no time to dwell on her nightmare she quickly got up from bed and ran to the bathroom to wash up, in the bathroom, she kept revising all her studies from the previous day, this was an opportunity of a life time to finally associate herself with people and she was definitely not gonna blow it.

She put on a corporate suit, a blue trouser with blue jacket, she packed her hair in a ponytail, put on her so called lucky bracelet and sprayed her cherry blossom perfume, "ready to go" she nodded and she checked her time, she was still running late, she quickly grabbed her bag and dashed out the house to get car.

Minutes later Jessica arrived at Silver Hotel which was a five star hotel, she was stunned, the exterior design was amazing. She walked in straight to the receptionist, "may I help you madam" the receptionist asked and she nodded, "am here for an interview" she said and the receptionist looked up. "Miss Cruz" she asked while Jess nodded "yes, am Jessica Cruz" she answered, "come with me" the receptionist directed her to an empty office she assumed to be the CEO's office. "You can wait here" she said and left, Jess walked round for some reason and saw a picture in an old dusty cupboard, picking it up, it was a picture of her family. She looked from her dad to her mom, then her sister, "Asami, where in the world are you" she asked no one in particular.

"Hi am Asami Collins" a girl with black wavy hair stood on a stage addressing the crowd. "Years ago, my parents died in an accident and I was kidnapped on that same spot, that day I lost my whole world but then some how I stumbled into the hands of Mrs Collins and she built up my world, but once again, I've lost that world" she paused to grief her step mother. "But she left me with some thing important, Future Industries, and so my goal is simple, to build machines, technologies that can create a better world, for us all and with that I give you this year's motto, Building machines today and saving tomorrow" she concluded and everyone clapped as she climbed down the stage. "Nice speech Asami" Mrs Collins secretary smiled while Asami only nodded. "You know, you would make a great CEO, Mrs Collins was really proud of you, she never stopped praising you saying you saved her, she really trusted you and so do I" the secretary ended and Asami gave a weak smile, "thank you" she walked back to her sit her mind travelling back ten years ago.

Asami was locked up in a dark room, her body trebling from hunger and fear, just the she heard footsteps, and she knew it was him, the man who kidnapped her. "Who are you, what do you want from me?" She was shaking but asked like she wasn't scared. "They call me Dark Eagle" he replied and she was shocked, she had heard that name, "you're an assassin" she voiced and the man nodded, "and you'll be one too, after I train you" he replied.

Jess sat in the empty office, wondering when the interview was going to start. As she sat down, the door opened and a young lady like herself entered, "Hi am Jane Daniel, you're assistance, if you pass the interview, that is" she said as she extended her had for a shake, "am Jessica Cruz" Jess said and Jane nodded. "Is the interview beginning now" she asked, "no just wanted to give you this" Jane replied as she hand a tablet to Jessica, "this are some of our important board of directors, I thought it will be better if you know them before the interview" she said and Jess smiled. "Thanks" she replied as she started going through the list, she nod her head as she went through the list until she saw something familiar, "Damien Quinn" she was shocked. "Yeah, he joined the company few days ago,he owns the highest share and he's really handsome" she said and Jess rolled her eyes. "Why's my life entangled with this lunatic" she complained. "Did you say something" Jane asked and she shook her head, "no" she gave a weak smile. Jane checked her time, "oh, it time for the interview" she voiced and Jess nodded.

Jessica stood at the door, adjust her suit , breath and walked in,.as she sat on the front desk all eyes were on her, some with glares, some with curiosity and one with admiration. The meeting finally began, "as you all know, we're gathered here to fill the office of the CEO, we've al gone through Miss Cruz records, so if you have questions, you're free to ask" aunt Rita, the chief adviser on silver hotel asked and a man stood up, "Miss Cruz, your record says you have no working experience at all, can you tell me why we should give the office of the CEO to an eighteen years old, who has no working experience" he asked. Aunt Rita was about to speak but Jess spoke. "Hi everyone, as you all know am Jessica Cruz, now you may all think that I can't handle this corporation because of my age, but trust me experience is more that, it the things you learn from the difficulties you've past through at your age, and I have past through a lot to know this, CEO is more than a title, it the responsibility to manage both people, their thought, emotions and ideas, and that's what am here for" she ended as everyone clapped, Damien smiled.

"I think Miss Cruz just proved herself to handle brr position, anyone else got anything to say" aunt Rita asked and the man stood again, "you're going to give her the position just cause she stated the work of a CEO" he said and aunt Rita frowned, "you just won't give up, would you" she was thinking of what to say when she noticed Damien stand up. "We're giving her the position because she have shown that she has the capability of coping under pressure and learning quick, if you can't see that then I wonder how you graduated from school" Damien said and everyone chuckled, "Young Master Quinn is right, Miss Cruz has proven herself by walking into here confidently and speaking likewise, but I also think she needs training from someone who has had a lot of experience" aunt Rita said and the rest nodded, "I'll do it, I'll teach her" the man from earlier said but Damien stood to face him. "Oh please, you couldn't even recognize her capability, am sure you'd do worst as a teacher" Damien mocked as other laughed quietly, " sorry Mr Robinson but Young Master Quinn makes a point, he should be the one to train her" aunt Rita said and Jess looked at her, while Damien smiled, "with that we come to the conclusion that Miss Cruz will occupy the office of the CEO under the watch of Young Master Quinn for now" aunt Rita voiced and everyone nodded.
