Chapter 9
During my days at the princess residence, I rarely saw Nolan.
The house bestowed by the Emperor paled in comparison to the splendor and grandeur of the princess residence.
Despite being married for quite some time, Nolan did not reside within the princess residence but chose to live in a separate villa.
However, whenever he returned, Princess Miranda would dismiss all the maids.
They would be left alone to admire the flowers, the moon, and the scenery, and finally, to spend intimate time together.
Yet, no matter how noble the lady, they still relied on the service of their attendants.
Tonight, under the full moon, it was my turn to stand guard.
With my eyes lowered, I held a basin of hot water, waiting quietly behind the curtain.
I could faintly hear the intimate whispers from inside the room, but my heart remained unmoved.
However, my hands involuntarily tightened around the edge of the basin, as if I wanted to crush it.
"Bring it in."
After a moment, Princess Miranda's relaxed and content voice broke the silence in the room.
I carried the hot water and walked in gently.
As expected, Nolan was nowhere to be seen.
Princess Miranda lay on the bed, wrapped in a silk blanket.
I wrung out a towel and knelt down to carefully wipe her body.
Her skin was smooth and tender, with faint red marks from their recent time together.
Princess Miranda's face was soft, and she gently caressed her lower abdomen, her face filled with anticipation and longing.
I knew she had always yearned for a child, but for some reason, fate had not favored her.
Thus, after every intimate encounter with Nolan, she would not thoroughly clean herself, only using a hot towel for a simple wash.
I glanced at the swaying curtain beside me and quickly looked away, focusing on my task.
I assumed Nolan was behind it.
I stood up and quietly walked to the nearby table, rinsing the towel.
Then, I deliberately slipped, my body suddenly stumbling uncontrollably towards the curtain.
