Chapter 7 More Drama Unveiled

Chapter 7: More Drama Unveiled

Winnie slowly opened her eyes, groggily taking in her surroundings. She was in a hospital room, surrounded by beeping machines and sterile white walls.

"James?" she croaked, her throat dry.

A figure moved into her line of sight, and she saw James's worried face. "Hey, you're awake," he said, relief etched on his features. "You've been out for a few hours. The doctor said you're going to be okay."

Winnie tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her head, making her wince. "What happened?" she asked, her memory fuzzy.

"The car hit us," James explained grimly. "But Alex pushed us out of the way just in time. You got a concussion, but it could have been much worse."

Winnie's eyes widened as the events came flooding back. "Raymond!" she exclaimed. "Where is he?"

James's face darkened. "He's in custody. The police finally caught up with him. But Winnie, there's something you need to know..."

He hesitated, and Winnie's heart began to race. "What is it?" she pressed.

James took a deep breath. "Raymond wasn't acting alone. He had an accomplice... someone we never suspected."

Winnie's eyes locked onto James', her mind racing with questions. Who was it? How could they have been so blind?

Winnie's eyes widened in shock. "Who is it?" she demanded, her voice barely above a whisper.

James hesitated, his eyes darting around the hospital room as if he feared being overheard. "It's someone we trust," he said finally, his voice low and grave. "Someone who's been playing us all along."

Winnie's mind raced with possibilities. Could it be Alex, their supposed savior? Or maybe even Mr. Smith, their boss?

"Who is it?" she pressed again, her patience wearing thin.

James took a deep breath before dropping the bombshell. "It's Sarah."

Winnie's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "Sarah? Our colleague? But why?"

James shook his head. "I don't know, but the police found evidence linking her to Raymond's schemes. It seems she's been manipulating him all along, using his obsession with you to further her own agenda."

Winnie's head reeled as she tried to process the information. Sarah, their friendly and helpful coworker, was behind it all? It couldn't be true. But the evidence said otherwise.

Winnie's eyes were fixed on James, her mind reeling with the implications. "Sarah? But how? Why?" she stammered.

James's expression was grim. "The police found a trail of evidence leading to her. It seems she's been playing a dangerous game, using Raymond's obsession to further her own agenda."

Winnie's thoughts raced as she tried to piece together the puzzle. Sarah, the colleague she had confided in, the one who had seemed so supportive and kind... it couldn't be true. But the evidence said otherwise.

*NOTE: it's another Sarah at their company. She showed up at Chapter 6*

Just then, the hospital room door burst open and a detective strode in. "Winnie, we need to talk," he said urgently. "We've found something that will change everything."

Winnie's heart skipped a beat as the detective's words hung in the air, leaving her with a sense of foreboding. What could they have found? And how would it change everything?

The detective's eyes locked onto Winnie's, his expression grave. "We've found a recording, Winnie. A recording of Sarah's conversation with Raymond. And what we heard will shock you."

Winnie's heart raced as the detective paused, his words hanging in the air like a ticking time bomb.

"What did they say?" Winnie asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

The detective hesitated, his eyes darting to James before returning to Winnie. "Sarah was manipulating Raymond, using his obsession to further her own agenda. But that's not all. She also mentioned something that will change everything."

Winnie's mind raced with possibilities. What could Sarah have said that would be so revelatory?

The detective took a deep breath before dropping the bombshell. "Sarah revealed that you, Winnie, are not who you think you are."

Winnie's eyes widened in shock, her world spinning out of control. "What do you mean?" she stammered.

The detective's expression was somber. "Your past, your identity... it's all a lie. And Sarah knows the truth."

Ds Inspired.
