Chapter 5 The Meeting

Thomas brought out some documents and showed it to Xander saying "the orphanage they wanted to buy to be a part of the Cage enterprise is been bided for by someone else too".

Xander stood up and paced to and fro his office with his hands folded then he sat down back on his seat and asked "what company is buying the orphanage?" and Thomas answered "it's actually an individual who is bidding for it, despite all my effort to find out the identity of the person I still can't find out who the person is" Xander sighed and said get me a meeting with the owner immediately, Thomas made a few calls and said to Xander "sir the meeting has been scheduled for 2pm today"

Xander gave Thomas the files on his table and said to him "you can go to the office and if there is any other issue beyond you give me a call" He left the study and went back upstairs.

Oliver came into the study and asked Thomas what the issue was, he told him and Oliver complained "why is it that whenever Xander wants to acquire something that is more beneficial to the people than it is to him someone will always come up to pose a threat sometimes I feel like this is beyond us and someone is really trying to go out of their way to harm or ruin Xander" Thomas put his hand on Oliver's shoulder and said to him "don't worry dad just like every other time Xander will always find a way to work and solve things." They hugged each other and Thomas left the house.

Oliver assembled all the staff and assigned duties for the rest of the day to them and also told the chefs what to prepare for lunch because Xander's craving change a lot so most times the drafted meal menu they follow is usually changed as per Xander's wishes.

When Oliver left and went out back to arrange other things the staff all went to their stations and the kitchen staff as always gossiped about the relationship Xander shares with Oliver, Maid 1: It's such a shame Mr. Cage isn't married with children

Maid 2: I wonder who is going to inherit all his properties

Maid 3: The Hartman's of course, he has no family I mean can't you see the current CEO of Cage enterprise is Thomas Mr. Hartman's son so who else do you think will inherit his properties.

Maid 2: Have you all imagined if Mr. Cage is gay, I mean that will explain why he hasn't dated since we all got here.

Maid 3: And do you all know that we we're all hired at the same time, and our contract lasts for just a year

Maid 4: That's true I guess Mr. Cage wants to see different faces around him and can't have seeing the same people all the time

Maid 1: If that's the case how would you explain Mr. Hartman's presence in this house because from the looks of things Mr. Cage even knew Mr. Thomas when he was born, sometimes I wonder how old Mr. Cage really is.

The head maid walks in and everyone hurriedly gets back to what they were doing and she cleared her throat and said "your only job in this house is to clean and make sure everything in this house is spotless and intact for Mr. Cage so get back to work now before Mr. Hartman deals with you all. They apologized and all got back to their jobs.

Upstairs Oliver gets into Xander's secret room to clean and arrange it because no one other than him and Xander knows about the secret that room holds.

Xander gets dressed in a white T-shirt, black trousers and a jacket from his latest fashion line, and yes! Cage enterprise also has a fashion brand where he makes the designs himself and have his team bring those designs to life. Xander went outside to the secret room to check up on Oliver and told him he is going out for a long drive that he needed some fresh air.

Oliver told him "I know no matter how hard you try to be strong and show that you are, I know deep down you feel sad, you always say you have lived more than most humans which is very true, I mean I am 69 years old and you were present when I was born, you have been living for nine-hundred and ninety-nine years and I know it can be really lonely"

Xander held his hands and sat down and told him "I know I look young and have lived for over nine hundred years but you are someone I respect a lot and weirdly see as a father figure, they both laughed and Xander continued, I know it can be really lonely every day I wake up knowing that I can live for so long because of the curse placed on me but not being able to live as the human that I am hurts a lot, not being able to get married and have kids hurts a lot, I didn't even get to see my parents after I was born"

Mr. Cage said Oliver "don't loose hope, the curse said you have to fall in love to know the Luna descendant but if you don't give love a shot how will that ever happen, you deserve to be human again, it's your right to be human it was never your fault to start with so never blame yourself or even your parents for what happened in the past, you know, I had a tarot reading for you this morning and I have a feeling that something good will happen to you today, just keep your mind open you never know, what you have been searching for will come to you today".

Xander got to the garage of his house and picked his favorite yellow sport car, got in and drove off. On his way driving through the streets of New York he stopped by his favorite restaurant run by an old lady, he got in and the place was filled up with customers, when she saw him, her face lit up with so much excitement she went to him hugged him and asked her staff to handle the guests while she led him to an inner private room, she had her staff bring all kinds of meat and sea food for Xander, when the maid left she expressed her excitement to see Xander.

Xander held her hands and asked "how are you doing ma", she smiled at him and told him "I am doing just fine thanks to you", and said to him "you know, after I lost my family in that accident and I was the only survivor I completely lost all hope along with my sight, but thanks to you the surgery was successful and now I can see clearly, you even opened such a big restaurant for me to run and you always send someone to check up on me every day and that makes me so happy my child, thank you for everything you have done for me all these years"

Xander hugged her and said to her "you are like a grandma to me so stop saying thank you to your son for doing what he is supposed to do for you" she smiled and fed him his food. When he was done eating, he told her he had some where urgent to be and he would try to come see her some other time, they both hugged each other and she walked Xander out.

Immediately Xander opened the door of the restaurant to leave a lady was coming in and she tripped, but with a speed of lightning Xander held her and for a moment, for the first time he felt his heart beat as fast as ever and also the same happened to the young lady. Could this be the start of something new?
