Chapter 9 Can't Take This Medicine

When Olivia heard what Dominik said, she was shocked and almost collapsed right there.

She was afraid that if Lorenzo found out, not to mention Dominik, it could spell disaster for the entire Harper family.

"Give me the money, or I'll kill you today." Dominik bent down, picked up Bobby, and threw him to the side.

Olivia listened in horror. Dominik must have lost his mind! He had just beaten Bobby and still demanded the 20 million debt?

"You beast! You still want the debt after hitting me? Your whole family will be cursed!" Bobby shouted. "I swear you won't get a dime. You'll have to kneel and beg for my forgiveness for three days and three nights, or else..."

Before Bobby could finish, Dominik pushed his head down onto the table with a forceful bang. Blood spilled, and Bobby screamed in pain.

Bobby, terrified, whimpered, "Please, stop... I can't access the money. It needs Mr. Stewart's signature to move the funds and repay the Harper family. You can kill me, but I still won't be able to give you the money!"

Dominik scowled. "Then make sure he gets the message. I'll be coming to collect it myself."

Bobby nodded frantically but thought bitterly to himself. Damn, how dare this guy still want the money? He would definitely gather his men later and take Dominik down!

"Let's go. What are you waiting for?" Dominik said to Olivia as he turned to leave, holding Ruby.

Olivia snapped out of her shock and quickly followed Dominik, leaving the chaos behind. She knew the upcoming troubles were not hers to worry about.

"Dominik, you're playing with fire! You're so cruel. Do you realize the consequences?" Olivia trembled as she scolded him all the way.

Dominik didn't respond. After they left, he handed Ruby to Olivia to take her back to the Harper family.

He planned to stop by the pharmacy to pick up some medication after checking on Ruby's condition.

To his surprise, Bruce picked him up in his car, and they drove to the biggest pharmacy in Zlexvale.

As they entered, they noticed the pharmacy was bustling.

"Mr. Bates, we're fortunate to have the medicine you need here! It's all prepared. You can drink it straight away." An old man handed a teacup to a middle-aged man who looked quite ill.

Abel Bates, the mayor of Zlexvale, smiled as he took the teacup. "Thank you, Craig, for your care. Once I'm well, I'll definitely push for more policies to support medical development!"

Craig Morgan, known as the Medicine King, laughed. "Mr. Bates, it's my pleasure. Helping people and treating illnesses is our duty!"

"That's Mr. Abel Bates, the mayor. He's been ill with a mysterious disease that even top doctors couldn't cure. Thanks to Mr. Morgan's experience, he's now on the mend. Mr. Morgan is a renowned doctor, not easily available. Even the elite from Frutshire have to queue up to consult him."

Dominik, noticing something amiss, quickly walked over.

As Abel was about to sip the tea, Dominik's hand stopped him. "If you value your life, you might want to avoid this herbal concoction," he advised, shaking his head.

Abel looked surprised, while Craig, standing next to him, was enraged. "Kid, who do you think you are? How dare you question my treatment?!"

Bruce, alarmed by Dominik's approach, quickly tried to smooth things over. "Mr. Morgan, please, don't be upset. This is my friend. He can be quite direct, but don't take it personally..."

Seeing Bruce approach, Abel acknowledged him with a nod. "Mr. Higgins, please manage your friend."

Dominik responded with a cool detachment. "The ailment you're suffering from isn't natural. It's induced. If you consume that, your life might be cut short."

Craig's expression soured as he retorted sharply, "Foolish boy, spouting rubbish to seek attention! Do you think you know more about medicine than I do?"

Around them, everyone was skeptical. Craig, celebrated as the Medicine King in Sruburgh, was respected far and wide. The idea that Dominik could know better was absurd.

Abel's expression darkened with a warning edge. "Mr. Higgins, control him, or it's you who'll lose my respect."

Bruce gave a rueful smile, knowing well he couldn't rein in Dominik.

"Do as you please." Dominik shrugged nonchalantly and started to walk away.

Craig laughed dismissively. "Mr. Bates, please ignore him. He's just trying to impress. Go ahead, drink the medicine."

Abel trusted Craig and drank the herbal concoction. Soon after, a warmth spread through his belly, bringing a comforting sensation.

"Ah, what relief! That's the mark of a true Medicine King!" Abel exclaimed, rejuvenated.

The onlookers were impressed, lavishing praise.

"Disease may come and become serious rapidly, while it usually takes a long time to fully recover. But under Mr. Morgan's care, the patients can be cured quickly!"

"Mr. Morgan stands as a pillar in our medical community. To see him cure Mr. Bates' stubborn ailment so swiftly is nothing short of miraculous!"

Basking in the acclaim, Craig merely offered a modest smile, accustomed to such adoration.

Abel, buoyed by his recovery and the crowd's reaction, looked smugly at Dominik. "Anything else to say, young man?"

"You have..." Dominik showed his hand that was spread as he spoke, his back towards them, his tone icy.

Abel, puzzled and slightly alarmed, scoffed. "Five days? Well, we'll see!"

"In five days, if I am still well, think carefully about the consequences of antagonizing Mr. Morgan. You'll regret it!"

Bruce massaged his temples, worried about the tension between Dominik and the mayor.

Dominik began a slow countdown. "Five. Four. Three." Each number was accompanied by the lowering of a finger, marking each moment with deliberate calm.
