Chapter 7 Ruby In Trouble

"Are you Ruby Harper?" Sylvia asked as she approached with a faint smile, studying Ruby closely.

Ruby nodded, her hands trembling slightly. Despite her pride in becoming the CEO of Harper Group at such a young age, Sylvia's presence seemed to dwarf her achievement.

"General... General Hewitt, I am indeed Ruby Harper. What can I do for you?" Ruby's voice was cautious, tinged with fear.

Sylvia nodded slightly and responded, "Not bad."

Then, she turned and walked away.

Ruby stood rooted to the spot, puzzled. What did that mean?

Lorenzo approached with a stern expression. "Are you guys badmouthing General Hewitt behind her back?" he asked in a deep voice.

Kristian quickly stepped forward, his hands flailing. "Mr. Stewart, no, absolutely not. We would never dare to slander General Hewitt!"

Lorenzo nodded, seemingly satisfied, and fell silent.

Ruby wanted to discuss the Umbra Alliance's 20 million debt with Lorenzo, but she hesitated and ultimately remained silent.

Seizing his chance, Kristian spoke up. "Mr. Stewart, about the 20 million debt your company owes the Harper Group, could you please help us?"

Lorenzo dismissed him sharply. "Are you bothering me over a trivial matter like 20 million? Sort it out yourselves!"

He then hurried off after Sylvia.

Kristian refrained from saying more to Lorenzo but turned to Ruby with a comforting smile. "Ruby, don't worry. We'll definitely get back the 20 million tonight!"

After everyone had departed, the once silent group erupted into excited chatter.

"Oh my god, I actually saw General Hewitt up close like this. I feel like dying right now, but it's worth it!"

"I didn't expect her aura to be so terrifying. When she came over, I couldn't even breathe heavily! She's about the same age as us, but that aura is something else."

"Ruby, it seems like she knows you, right? And she said you're not bad. When did the Harper family get such connections?"

Ruby was at a loss, unable to grasp what was happening.

"If Dominik hadn't left just now and tried to show off in front of her, what do you think would have happened?" Olivia asked, clearly enjoying the thought.

"He would probably have been beaten to a pulp, right? No, General Hewitt probably wouldn't even bother with such a small potato like him." Kristian slowly shook his head as he spoke.

Watching Sylvia disappear into the distance, Ruby clenched her fists tightly and murmured, "One day, I will become someone like Sylvia, attracting attention from all over the world!"

Fuelled by this thought, she turned to her best friend and said, "Olivia, accompany me tonight to demand that debt from the Umbra Alliance."

Inspired by Sylvia, she felt a surge of courage.

That same night, Dominik was resting at the Skytop Villa Area when Olivia's call abruptly disturbed him.

"Dominik, Ruby is being forced to drink. You useless piece of trash, hurry up and come over to take her home. If something happens to her, can you bear the responsibility?" Olivia's voice blared through the phone as soon as the call connected.

Shocked, Dominik quickly asked for the address, hung up the phone, and instructed Bruce's driver to take him there immediately.

Despite being married to Ruby, nothing substantial had developed between them yet, but he couldn't stand by and watch her being mistreated.

His past happiness with her, even if fleeting, was worth defending.

He vividly remembered how, after being ostracized by the Gilbert family, the Harper family supported him and his father. Ruby had offered him a lollipop during his lowest ebb, a sweet gesture that still lingered in his memory.

At that moment, Ruby had already consumed quite a bit of alcohol. Her eyes were glazed, her face flushed with a deceptive charm that was dangerously alluring.

Olivia sat beside her, worry etching her features.

"Mr. Dreskin, I've already had three glasses. Can you pay back the 20 million owed to our company now?" Ruby asked.

Bobby Dreskin, a leader within the Umbra Alliance, sat back in his chair with a smirk. "You've had three glasses, so I'll pay back three million first."

Ruby was stunned. "Are you going back on your word?!"

Bobby looked genuinely surprised. "Ms. Harper, you can't say that! I just said I'd pay you back after three drinks, but I never specified how much."

He slammed a bottle of foreign wine on the table, his voice firm. "So, Ms. Harper, if you finish this, I'll give you the entire 20 million, down to the last penny!"

Ruby blinked hard; she was nearing her limit after the third glass. If she took this one, she feared she might collapse.

She shook her head. "Mr. Dreskin, I really can't drink anymore. Forget it... You can pay me back three million first."

"Ha, since you've come, how can you not drink? You have to drink it whether you want it or not!" Bobby's eyes gleamed with a cold intensity as he unscrewed the bottle cap, the strong smell of alcohol wafting towards them.

Beside her, Olivia quickly interjected, "Mr. Dreskin, please show some mercy... Ruby really can't drink anymore today!"
