Chapter 12 Payback

/ 1

Not long after, the secretary came back with the director's phone number and immediately ran out, not wasting another second with Diana.
Diana tapped her fingers rhythmically on her table as she stared at the number with a smirk on her face. She really wanted to let go of Angela despite what she did yesterday, but it seemed like the girl was pushing her buttons desperately looking for attention.
__________
THE NEXT DAY
It was time for the launch ceremony, Diana dressed up neatly wearing a white flowing dress with golden embroideries on it.
She picked up a silver purse and looked at her reflection in the mirror with a cold smile playing on her face. It was time for action.
Just as Diana was about to open the door, her phone rang suddenly, which made her halt her movements and she answered the phone with a calm face.
"Speak." She ordered coldly, knowing that it was her secretary who called her.
"Errm, Ma'am, I just found out that for the launch party, you are meant to go with- a- Partner- To the party." The secretary stuttered to speak, knowing that Diana absolutely wanted nothing to do with men, as she had a trauma from when she was much younger.
"Why are you just saying this now? And why was this decision taken without informing the movie sponsor?" Diana inquired coldly as she massaged her temples, trying to think of a solution to the issue at hand.
"Okay then, contact the actor that visited the company yesterday for a photo shoot and send him some suits. Let him select anyone that fits him, he should meet me at the venue. Don't be late." Diana instructed the secretary, issuing a warning at the end, as she hated being late to any social events.
"Okay noted Ma-" Before the secretary could complete her statement, Diana had already cut the call.
To be honest, shock was an understatement for the secretary as Diana hardly interacted with men and if she did, it was just briefly and without physical contact because of the incident that happened way back.
"This is not the time to think about this." The secretary shook her head, getting those thoughts out of her head before raising her phone up to make calls to the various people necessary in order to carry out Diana's instructions efficiently and quickly.
Derek was chilling in Richard's penthouse since it was a free day with nothing on his schedule.
He skimmed through the TV with a bored look on his face as he found nothing to watch.
"Today is the launch party of Angela's movie. Want to go crash it?" Richard suggested, also feeling bored with nothing to watch.
"No, I think it's best I just revise the scripts that you have." Derek sighed before switching the TV off and standing up, going to the drawer and removing the script before settling down on the couch and starting to read.
'Knock Knock.' Derek heard the sound of his door being knocked, "I did not order anything did I?" Derek muttered to himself, forcing himself to stand up as he head to the door, peeping through the hole to see a number of people lined up in front of his door.
Taken aback, Derek moved away, "Did you offend anyone?" He asked Richard, surprised that such an entourage would show up at his doorstep.
"That is a difficult question," Richard stated with a sigh, "But you are with my body now, so you have to deal with it." Richard added, feeling joyful, "Bitch." Derek cursed at him.
"Mister Richard, please, kindly open up the door." Derek heard a female voice call out, after a lot of hesitation, Derek finally opened up the door and came face to face with a woman whom he could see the top of her head clearly.
"Mister Richard, we were sent here by CEO Diane to get you ready for the launch party." The secretary announced, giving the men a signal as they started trooping in with suits lined up on hangers.
"Wait, which launch party?" Derek asked confused, unable to process what they were saying. He had checked carefully and was sure that he did not have anything on his schedule today, so which launch party were they talking about all of a sudden?
"There is a launch party for which the movie Williams enterprise is sponsoring and hosting, so as the new face of Williams enterprise you are to accompany CEO Diane." The secretary explained, pulling out her tab as she tapped away with focus, even though she was almost having a nervous wreck on how to ensure Derek agreed to go with her.
"Movie? I thought William enterprise was an industrial company." Derek voiced out,"We have subsidiary companies." The secretary stated simply, obviously not wanting to go any further from there anymore.
"Here are the rules that you must follow as you accompany the CEO." The secretary started walking about as the men measured Richard's body with all seriousness, picking out suits occasionally to see if they would match his body type and skin.
The scene was quite hilarious and serious at the same time because the main character just stood there still trying to understand what was happening and why he was picked to be Diana's partner when there were many other men that were worthy enough to be one.
"Just shut up and enjoy the service, it is rare to see CEO Diane pay attention to anyone." Richard scolded with excitement in his voice.
"Number one, don't touch or have any physical contact with CEO Diane. Number two don't speak about matters that you are not invited to. Number three, don't get any funny ideas. It is because our CEO had no choice. That's why she chose you." The secretary listed the rules. She had come up with them herself in order to protect the life of the nation's idol because she feared that Diana might overreact if he did any of these things.
