Chapter 5 Child abuse

When Derek finally reached the bathroom, he finally sighed in relief as he could now reply to Richard who had been bothering him all this while.

"Dude, if you keep going on like this we are going to end up in an asylum soon." Derek scolded, his hands went up his head to massage it, running his hands through his hair. Having another person in your mind is kind of tiring.

"Ouch, you know I can hear your thoughts right." Richard complained, sounding depressed, while Derek just sighed, preparing to respond when one of the restroom doors pushed open.

"I didn't know the heartbreak hit you so bad that your mental health is cracking. I would have returned Angela to you, but we are a perfect fit, and you aren't worth her." Joseph, Richard's brother snorted after opening the cubicle door.

"If you throw something into the street it's obvious you don't want it back, and a beggar who needs it picks it up. The same applies to you. I threw Angela away, and you decided to pick up a fairly used product." Derek retorted with a smirk on his face. He knew Joseph couldn't do anything to him because Richard is the national prince and if anything happened to him, fans wouldn't take it lying down and that's the reason why Joseph spared Richard's life, not because of any family bond, otherwise, Richard would have ended up in the sorry state he is now.

After hearing what Derek said, Joseph felt his whole body steaming with anger, but he just took in a deep breath trying to cool himself down and not overreact to his words. It was the Williams's territory, and it wouldn't be nice to cause trouble, especially because of his purpose here.

"I will let you off this time because of our family bond." Joseph walked off almost immediately. He couldn't stand another provocation without reacting.

Derek sneered as he watched him leave, "hypocrite." Richard stated with a snicker and Derek agreed with him.

The guy probably ran off because of his own interests, and decided to look magnimous.

"You said you could read my thoughts. Why not communicate that way, so we won't end up in an asylum." Derek suggested as he thought of the idea, "But it drains me quickly." Richard disagreed with the idea.

"So you get drained." Derek said slowly as if he discovered a new thing.

Joseph nervously rubbed his palms together as he reached the receptionist's desk.

"Excuse me." Joseph called out, "Good day sir, how may I help you?" The receptionist answered politely.

Joseph was quite impressed by the reception service here. No wonder they are at the top of their game.

"Errmm, I have an appointment with your CEO. It was booked a week ago concerning the railway contract by the Camefolt industry." Joseph explained while trying to gather himself.

"Ohhh, right this way sir." The receptionist replied politely while pointing towards the direction he was going to take.

The receptionist guided him to CEO Diane office before heading back to her station.

After she left, Joseph raised his hand up to knock at the door, but he paused a second away from hitting the door, before his hands went back down, he took in a deep breath and arranged his collar, tie and suit before adjusting his hair, then knocked lightly on the door as if he is afraid to offend the person behind it, which he was.

A cold "come in." was heard. Joseph took another deep breath and entered the office.

"Go straight to the point," Diana stated, without looking up from the files on her desk. The receptionist had already informed her who it was, so it was not necessary.

"I was hoping you could consider the Camefolt industry for the rail project the William enterprise would be working on." Joseph said after gathering a little bit of courage.

"If that is what you would like to say, you can leave." Diana said, not sparing the person standing before her a glance at all.

"But you haven't listened to my proposal," Joseph said desperately.

As soon as he said that, the pen signing the files on the desk stopped abruptly and the whole office degree fell drastically.

"Business isn't about hope. I read your proposal, and it does not bring any profit to me in anyway and, besides, why will I endorse a project in which the fellow's fiancée ridiculed me?" Diana asked, saying the last part with a tinge of amusement in her voice.

"I hope we can put the past behind us and move on. Angela is still a child and those who do not understand these things, especially when someone tries to dress more than her at her engagement party." Joseph said with a blaming tone, thinking he had cornered Diana into feeling guilty.

"Then you should be arrested for child abuse. Should I call the police?" Diana asked sarcastically while gesturing to her phone.

Joseph didn't realize it at first, then he got the meaning, he couldn't help but flush red with embarrassment.

As he couldn't take the humiliation any longer, he turned to leave, but what Diana said next made him halt.

"I can give the contract on one condition," Diana said with an air of mystery surrounding her.

"What's it? anything, anything at all." Joseph said hurriedly, happy at the slight thought that the contract might work out after all.

"It's very simple," Diana spoke, pausing for a bit as she wanted the suspense to happen.

"Break up with your so-called fiancée, and it's a done deal." Diana finally said her condition.

Joseph stood in a momenta shock. Was the Almighty Diana in love with him? If she was then there would be no need to work harder anymore.

"Errm, do you like...." "Don't even go there. Don't think I can ever fall in love with you, you could taint my soul." Diana interrupted Joseph rudely.

Joseph stood there slipping into shock again he was stupefied, not knowing what to do. Both Angela and the contract were equally important to him.

He didn't know which to choose, so Diana suddenly looked up from the paper she was busy with previously, "So have you made up your mind?" She asked with a mischievous voice while Joseph stood there blankly thinking of what to do.

"I'm not a saint, and I don't forgive that easily. You can do yourself a favor by leaving," Diana used her words to usher him out, while burying her head back into the file before her.
