Chapter 9 Heavy Punch

Arriving at the hospital, Hana ran towards the Emergency Room, her tears uncontrollable. Onlookers were puzzled as she came dressed in bridal attire. Urahara and Mimi followed from behind, still curious as Hana hadn't informed them of anything.

Hana's steps halted in front of a door labeled ER. Hesitantly, she tried to open it, only to be shocked by the sight of Kaji unconscious, blood scattered all over his white tuxedo. Urahara and Mimi were equally surprised. They never expected Hana's visit to the hospital to be related to Kaji.

"Excuse me, are you a family member of one of the accident victims?" a nurse asked Hana.

"I am the fiancée of the man in the white tuxedo," Hana pointed, unable to contain her sorrow.

"Today, there were 8 accident victims this morning. The man in the white tuxedo suffered more serious injuries than others. We request the family to settle the administrative fees as soon as possible so we can proceed with his treatment," explained the nurse.

"I will go settle it. Please save him as much as you can. I beg for your help," Urahara unexpectedly responded.

While Urahara went to settle the administrative matters, Mimi hugged Hana, trying to comfort her. She hesitated to approach Kaji, who would soon receive medical attention. The nurse instructed them to wait outside not to disturb the treatment process for other patients.

As Hana and Mimi sat in the waiting room, their attention was drawn to the television screen broadcasting news about the multi-car accident involving Kaji. The report mentioned that one driver caused the pileup by speeding, losing control during a turn, and crashing into the roadside barrier. Several cars behind couldn't stop in time, resulting in an 8-victim pileup.

Hana could only cry in Mimi's embrace when she learned that Kaji was responsible for the accident. She thought he might have been racing to get to the wedding venue before the ceremony started. Somehow, Hana felt guilty because she had sent a message earlier, urging Kaji to come as quickly as possible.

After passing the critical period, Kaji could now be moved to a hospital room. Hana, having just changed her clothes, rushed to Kaji's room when informed by Mimi. Her hands trembled as she tried to open the door, hoping to find Kaji in good condition. However, upon entering, she saw him still lying unconscious, which pained her deeply.

"Thank goodness he made it through the critical period," Mimi exclaimed, relieved.

The doctor informed Hana that they would monitor Kaji's progress for now, unable to determine when he would regain consciousness. Hana, who would stay with Kaji, promised to call the doctor if she noticed any signs of him waking up.

Urahara's phone ringing caught the attention of Mimi and Hana. He excused himself to answer the call, which puzzled them, as he was supposed to work the next day.

"You can go home if you want. Aren't you supposed to work tomorrow?" Hana suggested to Mimi.

"In a moment. I still want to be here with you," she replied softly.

Mimi felt genuine pity for Hana, who had canceled her wedding and had to face such a painful situation. She couldn't imagine what would happen if she were in Hana's position. The door opened, and Urahara entered, looking quite anxious.

"Hana, forgive me. Jun is also in the hospital due to the accident. I need to go check on him," Urahara said, surprising Hana.

"Is Misugi-san also a victim?" Mimi exclaimed, disbelieving.

"His secretary just called and informed me about Jun's accident," explained Urahara.

Hana allowed Urahara to leave, and Mimi, wanting to see the son of her company's president, followed Urahara to the room in the hospital. Hana glanced at Kaji with a mournful look, holding his hand tightly.

"Please wake up. Don't make me sad like this," Hana pleaded, shedding tears again.

Hana grew more worried as Kaji had yet to regain consciousness, with no signs of him waking up after nearly 24 hours. She pressed the emergency button for a nurse to check his condition. A nurse arrived and examined Kaji, then urgently called the doctor, looking quite alarmed.

The doctor came and followed up on what the nurse had observed. Hana could only watch with intense anxiety. After the examination, the doctor spoke to the nurse about things Hana couldn't comprehend. Once the nurse understood, she quickly left the room.

"We need to talk about the patient's condition," the doctor said, leading them to his office.

In the doctor's office, Hana was asked to sit down, preparing for the doctor's explanation about Kaji's current condition. Despite her fear, she nodded in understanding, and the doctor began sharing the concerning news.

"Currently, the patient's condition is unstable. The impact of the accident has resulted in him being in a coma for now. We can't determine when he will wake up, but we promise to provide the best treatment for him."

"Will he be okay, doctor?"

"Everyone experiences a coma for varying durations. However, if the coma persists for a long time, the chances of the patient surviving become slim."

"What? Doctor, please save Kaji. Give him your best treatment, please..."

The doctor promised to do his best for Kaji's recovery. He also offered support to Hana, advising her to continue talking to Kaji and providing massages to stimulate a response.
