Chapter 6 Break A Leg

"Are you out of your goddamned mind?"

Shoving Hallie off her, Jessica pulled out a coin from her bag and threw it at her. "Use this to save up for a trip to the psychiatric ward."

Then she turned around to leave. From the corner of her eye, she saw that Hallie, who looked so fierce and aggressive just now, suddenly fell to the floor and wailed in pain.

"Jessica, I know you hate me, but please don't blame me for your divorce..." she whimpered pitifully. "I never held a grudge against you when you scolded me or beat me. Even after you pushed me down the stairs and made me break my leg, I didn't get mad at you... But do you really want to break my other leg? You've gone too far..."

Tears streamed down Hallie's face as she spoke. She looked scared, as though Jessica had threatened to break her leg in some vicious way just now.

In the blink of an eye, this two-faced woman shifted from a ferocious beast to a pitiful victim.

Jessica looked back. As expected, it turned out that Aaron was standing behind her, wearing a stern expression.

"You're hopeless!" he shouted angrily, brushing past her to check on Hallie's "broken" leg.

Jessica wanted to laugh.

Hallie's leg was wrapped tightly in layers of gauze, so it was hard to tell if she was really injured or not.

Aaron felt both angry and disappointed. In the end, he settled for indifference.

"I thought you might learn something from our divorce, but you went even further and tried to break Hallie's other leg!"

His expression was cold and unfeeling as he spoke.

He looked Jessica in the eye and added, "I was thinking of giving you a house and money so that you could live a carefree life, but now, it seems that I was too kind to you. I won't give you a penny!"

"Don't do that, Aaron!" Hallie held his arm and gripped it anxiously, pretending to side with Jessica. "I shouldn't have said that. Jessica didn't mean to hurt me. Actually, she wanted to help me back to the sofa, but accidentally pushed me to the floor. It's all my fault. Please... This is all just one big misunderstanding..."

Hallie cried and pretended to pin all the blame on herself. She looked very guilty when Aaron was looking at her, but when she glanced at Jessica, she smiled complacently.

It was the exact same expression she wore when she deliberately threw herself down the stairs that day.

Jessica suddenly cracked a smile.

Things were getting interesting!

Seeing her smile at a time like this, Aaron couldn't stand it anymore. He barked, "Apologize to Hallie! Now!"

Aaron also acted the same as that day.

Without saying a word, Jessica waltzed over to Hallie and squatted down in front of her.

Hallie inched closer to Aaron for protection.

"What... what're you doing?" Hallie stammered nervously, her voice trembling.

But she couldn't conceal the complacent smile in her eyes as she gazed at Jessica smugly.

If Jessica didn't apologize to her now, Aaron definitely wouldn't let her go!

All of a sudden, Jessica grinned, revealing two charming dimples on her cheeks. She was stunningly beautiful.

"Hallie," Jessica called out gently. The next second, she clenched one hand into a fist and smashed it hard onto Hallie's shin.

A sickening, bone-crunching sound echoed across the room.

"Ah!"

Hallie shrieked in pain and cradled her broken leg, all the color draining from her unremarkable face.

This time, her tears were genuine.

Jessica stood up, dusted off her hands, and blinked at Hallie innocently.

"Why are you crying? You accused me of wanting to break your leg. So, I was merely following through on your accusation."
