Chapter 5 An Ugly Woman

"Tsk, tsk, tsk." Jessica clicked her tongue in disappointment. "Oh, Hallie, why'd you have to frame me? If you wanted to break your leg, you could've just told me. I'd be more than happy to help."

Her men had sent her a clip of Hallie strutting around in high heels. Seeing that, Jessica raised her eyebrows and shook her head.

She was never going to let Hallie get away with what she did to her. After divorcing Aaron, she secretly ordered her men to follow Hallie, waiting for the foolish woman to give herself away.

Jessica didn't expect that Hallie would hand the evidence to her on a silver platter-and so soon, too!

As soon as Jessica paused the video, a message from Aaron popped up on her phone.

"Go back to the villa now and collect your things."

Smiling bitterly, Jessica stared at the text for a long time before finally replying, "Okay."

"Jessica?"

As soon as his meeting ended, Mathew rushed home. He found Jessica seated at the table, so he sat down and asked, "Why do you want to be a director? Wouldn't it be better for you to be the president?"

Jessica put her phone away and explained seriously, "I haven't stepped foot in the company in over three years. If I suddenly took over, everyone would either respect or fear me, and they'll only show me their good side. But if I'm only a director, I'll be able to see everyone's true colors. Only then will I be able to get rid of bad employees who are affecting the company's development..."

She paused to take a sip of coffee and then added, "Aaron asked me to collect my stuff. When I get back, I'll start working at Glamour Jewels."

"Do you want me to drive you there?" Mathew offered.

Jessica shook her head. "I can take care of it myself."

Jessica went to Aaron's villa.

The sunflowers that used to bloom on both sides of the yard had been cut off, leaving only bare, sad-looking stems.

Jessica's heart ached at the sight of this. After all, she had lived here for three years, and she had personally planted every single sunflower.

After her divorce, no one would take care of her precious flowers.

Pushing these negative thoughts to the back of her mind, she trudged inside the villa, went straight upstairs to get her paintings, and then headed downstairs, not wanting to stay a second longer than necessary.

However, someone stopped her from leaving.

"What're you doing here? I thought you divorced him."

Wearing a white slip dress, Hallie looked gentle and innocent on the surface, but her tone was mean and aggressive.

"Such a disgusting woman," Jessica muttered to herself discontentedly.

She had just divorced Aaron, yet Hallie moved in so fast.

"I didn't know Aaron was so stingy," she remarked loudly, locking eyes with Hallie. "How does it feel to move into the house he and I used to live in? If I were him, I would've bought you a bigger house. Guess he doesn't care about you as much as I thought."

Every word that left Jessica's lips stung Hallie. Gnashing her teeth, she jabbed a finger at Jessica's shoulder and hissed, "Jessica, listen up. Aaron is mine, and we're getting married. Bother him for a car or a house, and I'll break your legs!"

Jessica couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Bother Aaron for a new car or a house?

She had dozens of properties and countless luxury cars. Maybe she was even richer than him.

"Why are you laughing?" Hallie frowned unhappily. "You shameless bitch!"

"If anyone here is shameless, it's you."

With a sneer, Jessica swatted away Hallie's hand.

"Before Aaron and I divorced, you kept pestering him. Hate to break it to you, but you're just a homewrecker. Know your place, you shameless bitch."

Hallie's blood boiled.

"My father runs a huge enterprise! I'm his only daughter, and I'm worth hundreds of millions! What about you? You're just some poor bitch that couldn't even keep your husband! Don't even try to find a job here in Acomond. I'll make sure no company ever hires you! And how dare you talk to me like that? Jessica, if you had the faintest semblance of self-awareness, then you'd know that an ugly bitch like you can't compete with me."

Chuckling indifferently, Jessica asked, "Where are you getting all this confidence, Hallie?"

Hallie was much too thin, and not even all the makeup in the world could make her stand out in a crowd. Jessica, on the other hand, was a natural beauty.

At present, Jessica was wearing a dark green satin dress over a pair of red and black high-heeled shoes. Her legs were long and slender. Her eyes were cold yet bright, revealing a sharp intensity.

Hallie paled in comparison.

She had always looked down upon Jessica, saying that the latter was nothing but a bumpkin and a useless housewife who always wore dull sportswear. But she knew clearly that even so, Jessica was much more beautiful than her.

To add insult to injury, Jessica was only twenty-five years old.

Hallie grabbed Jessica by her dress and sneered, "Humph! Do you regret divorcing Aaron? I know what you're up to! Wearing a slutty dress like that, you obviously want to seduce him!"
