Chapter 2 THE NIGHTMARES

ROMAN'S P.O.V

"Have mercy... Please show mercy" His screams echo.

How pathetic, now he begs for mercy. Haha...

"Mercy?" I ask sarcastically.

"Yes, my King. I was foolish. Have mercy on me..... Please" He cries. It was stupid to cross me knowing the consequences, but anyway, still try your luck; this fool did exactly that.

I crouched down to his level, his eyes were swollen shut, but he was still able to see me, he had been dealt with pretty badly.

"Stephen, you can't possibly expect me to show you mercy now, can you? You dared to drug me, so your daughter could sleep with me, and all for what? Just so she could be queen and you could have power?" I grin evilly revealing my elongated claws, causing him to shake with fear. I stood up sharply, retracting my claws.

"But, I'm feeling a little generous today, so I've decided to spare you" He looked at me in shock before smiling.

"Thank you, my king, I'll serve you faithfully for the rest of my life. I won't forget your kindness to me"

'Look at him shamelessly licking the sole of our feet, he disgusts me. I want to rip his tongue out Roman' My wolf, Alec, voices out in my head.

In one swift move, I slash open his throat and rip out his tongue. He chokes on his blood, and it isn't long before he drops, dead.

'Now that's much better' Alec smirks proudly.

"Clean up the mess" I order my guard on my way out of the pit. The pit was a place where no prisoner ever came out from if he ever sent in.

Stephen was a blockhead to have thought he'd be any different because he was on the council. Retreating to my bedroom, I took a quick shower to wash the blood off me. I needed to clear my head, there were times when I usually went out for a run, my alone time, to relieve myself of the stress that came with being Alpha king and this was one of those times. It was much more convenient as it was nighttime.

Turning into my wolf deep into the woods, I felt a calming sensation wash over me as the cool wind blew my fur. Alec broke into a run, jumping over fallen logs of wood, digging up dust with how fast he was going, which an ordinary human eye wouldn't be able to catch with.

We had been running for quite a while now, so Alec laid close to the stream, watching our reflection. The scar on my face stared right back at me, mocking me. It was said that a person's character had been built due to past experiences and that was my case. It was what made me this way, cruel....cold.

I got this scar from my father because of love. Thoughts of the past made me see red, I shook my head before standing on all fours, walking back to where my clothes were. The pain of my bones realigning was one of the many pains I enjoyed, it was a reminder that I was still human, no matter what.

The sky was getting bright, I hadn't realized how much time I had spent outside. Entering my house, I was greeted by my maid. I had just two people working for me, I hated being around people and I didn't trust too easily.

"Good morning my king" Annabelle, the older one of the two greeted. She was an elderly woman, my mother's friend.

"Good morning Anna" I reply, walking up to my room wanting solitude.

I took a quick shower before going to bed, only being able to sleep for about two hours. It was not something new, I had difficulty sleeping, and I always experienced nightmares once I shut my eyes.

"You're going to be King one day Roman, you need to experience pain, welcome the pain."

He grinned as he carved down my back, the other man smiling at my pain.

"Father, please, please stop." I wailed, I couldn't move as I was bound by ropes. The door slammed open, I heard a female gasp follow.

"Derek, stop, what are you doing?" That was my mother. I diverted my gaze at her to see a horrified look on her face. She rushed to my side in a flash, hugging me.

"What do you want, Isabelle?" Derek, my father, snarled.

"Why are you doing this, Derek?" My mother asked once she had freed me, I hid behind her as I continue to cry.

"Look at him, you bitch. He's a disgrace. He is weak. And I can't have a weakling for a son."

"Derek, he's just a boy, a child. He can't just magically be how you want him to be. He has to grow into it" She defends, but that only aggravates him further.

"Shut the fuck up, Isabelle, you gave me a weakling instead of a son, and now I have to mold him into a perfect king. I'm correcting your mistake" He hissed. There it was, that word....mistake.

"He is not a mistake Derek, he is our son" She yelled angrily. Stressing the word 'son'.

"Maybe he is your son, Isabelle, but is he truly Derek's?" The other man, Ralph, who is my uncle, asks. I watch as my mother's head snaps to him in shock and anger as she moves, standing in front of him.

"How dare you, Ralph? How dare you question my son's legitimacy. And my loyalty to my husband?" She was fuming with anger.

"Answer his question, Isabelle. Is he truly my son? I couldn't possibly birth a weakling" Derek asks harshly, my mother staggers backward at that.

She couldn't believe his words.

"He is your son, Derek.... I've known no other man but you" She whispers softly, her voice breaking. The sound of a smack resonates throughout the room, my father hit her. My vision seemed to deem as images flickered back and forth, I could only hear shouts.

"No..... Derek...bitch......hold" The voices, cries, pleadings, they all merged as one in my head, I couldn't see, I couldn't move.

"No...no.... Noooo" I jolt awake. Sigh! Another nightmare.

Walking to the window, I gaze at the sky, wondering if I'd ever be able to get rid of the nightmares.
