Chapter 7 Medicine King

"Are you Ruby Harper?"

Sylvia approached, eyeing Ruby with a slight grin.

In response, Ruby nodded and her body trembled beyond her control.

Despite her pride in becoming the CEO of the Harper Group at a young age, it paled in comparison to Sylvia's achievements.

"General... General Hewitt, yes I am Ruby. Can I help you with something?" Ruby asked nervously.

Sylvia nodded subtly and commented, "Not bad."

With that, she turned and walked away, leaving Ruby puzzled. What did her response imply?

Lorenzo, wearing a serious expression, approached and questioned, "Are you guys gossiping about General Hewitt?"

Kristian hurriedly intervened, gesturing, "Mr. Stewart, no, we wouldn't dare speak negatively about her!"

Pleased, Lorenzo nodded and didn't speak further.

Ruby contemplated addressing the issue of the 20 million owed by the Umbra Alliance but hesitated.

Seeing this as an opportunity, Kristian decided to speak up. "Mr. Stewart, regarding the 20 million dollars your company owes Harper Group..."

Lorenzo retorted, "You bother me with such a trivial issue? Sort it out yourselves!"

He then pursued Sylvia.

Unable to press Lorenzo further, Kristian reassured Ruby with a smile. "Ruby, don't worry. We'll get back that 20 million tonight!"

After Sylvia disappeared from their sight, the previously silent group burst into excitement.

"I can't believe I got to see General Hewitt up close. It would be worth it to die right now!"

"Her presence is so overpowering. When she came near, I could hardly breathe! Despite being around our age, she's just..."

"Ruby, Looks like General Hewitt knows you, and she even gave you a compliment. When did your family make such connections?"

Ruby's face displayed confusion. She was totally oblivious to what was going on.

"If Dominik hadn't taken his leave and tried to show off before General Hewitt, what do you think would have happened?" Olivia asked, somewhat gleefully.

"He likely would've been beaten black and blue, right? Well, General Hewitt likely wouldn't have bothered with such a lowlife," Kristian shook his head as he spoke slowly.

Watching Sylvia's back as she walked away, Ruby couldn't help but clench her fists and muttered, "One day, I'll become just like her, capturing the world's attention! Dominik is just a prison guard, an insignificant nobody. How could he ever be deserving of me?"

At that moment, Dominik got a call from Bruce. After exiting the club, he hopped into his Rolls-Royce and drove to a market.

Bruce, spotting Dominik stepping out of the car, approached and greeted him warmly, "Mr. Gilbert, apologies for troubling you. I found an item here, and I'd like you to take a look."

Dominik nodded, and Bruce directed the shop owner to unveil a painting.

After inspecting it carefully, Dominik nodded and inquired, "How much?"

"One hundred million dollars," Bruce responded nervously.

"Take it," Dominik replied casually.

Bruce promptly swiped his card to complete the payment, leaving a crowd of onlookers, including experts, astounded.

Who was this young man? After listening to his words, Bruce effortlessly decided to purchase an item whose authenticity they couldn't even verify. What was his background?

"Mr. Bates, we're incredibly fortunate. We've actually come across a century-old Fo-Ti in this shop! I've already prepared the medicine for you. Just take it, and you'll be back on your feet," an elderly man, holding a cup in his hand, said to a middle-aged man with a slightly unwell look.

Abel Bates, the mayor of Zlexvale City, took the cup, smiling as he expressed, "Dr. Morgan, thanks for looking out for my health these days. Once I'm better, I'll support your medical research even more!"

Craig Morgan, known as Medicine King, laughed heartily and responded, "Mr. Bates, no need for such formality. Healing people is just part of my duty."

"That's our mayor Mr. Bates. He recently got hit with a weird illness and couldn't find a cure despite consulting famous doctors."

"Indeed. Dr. Morgan can fix him up easily. He truly deserves the title of Medicine King!"

"Dr. Morgan is a renowned healer. Even big shots in Frutshire City have to wait in line to see him."

Dominik, watching the scene, frowned and approached abruptly.

As Abel reached for the cup, Dominik's large hand intercepted it.

"If you wish to extend your days, it's wise to steer clear of this herbal decoction," Dominik calmly advised, shaking his head.

Abel stood there, astonished, while Craig beside him grew instantly irate. "Who do you think you are, questioning the remedy I've recommended?"

Noticing Dominik approaching, Bruce was taken aback and hurriedly clarified, "Dr. Morgan, please don't be upset. This is my friend. Don't take his harsh words to heart."

Seeing Bruce walking over, Abel nodded and said, "Mr. Higgins, rein in your friend."

Dominik expressed nonchalantly, "Your condition isn't an ailment. Someone has tampered with your health. Consuming the herbal decoction from this century-old Fo-Ti will only shorten your days."

Craig, displeased, retorted coldly, "Nonsense! Baseless talk. Do you believe your medical expertise surpasses mine?"

A unanimous headshake followed. Craig Morgan, known as the Medicine King in the country, faced Dominik's bold challenge to his life-saving potion for Abel.

Abel's expression darkened as he declared, "Mr. Higgins, if you don't give him an earful, don't blame me for my actions!"

Bruce forced a smile. How could he dare to punish Mr. Gilbert?

"Do as you wish if you are determined to die." Dominik shrugged and turned to take his leave.

Craig chuckled and said, "Mr. Bates, don't take offense. He's just a troublemaker seeking attention in my presence. Please take the herbal decoction."

Abel nodded and consumed it. A soothing warmth filled his stomach and he felt relief after a moment.

"Ha ha, you truly live up to your title! This herbal decoction is miraculous!" Abel laughed heartily, feeling rejuvenated.

Witnessing this scene, everyone couldn't help but commend the efficacy of the medicine.

"A true maestro! Dr. Morgan's expertise has worked wonders."

"Undoubtedly, he stands as a titan in our nation's medical realm. He cured Mr. Bates' weird ailment in minutes. Truly remarkable!"

Amidst the accolades, Craig merely offered a faint smile. A lifetime of compliments had left him unswayed by them.

Triumphant, Abel gazed at Dominik and remarked, "Young man, do you have anything to say now?"

"You can live this long!" Dominik extended one hand.

Abel was stunned. "Five days? Humph!

After five days, if I'm still fine, you ought to ponder the repercussions of challenging Dr. Morgan," Abel declared.

Upon hearing this, Bruce couldn't help but develop a headache. Mr. Gilbert had provoked Mr. Bates; this wasn't good.

"Five."

"Four."

"Three."

In that moment, Dominik calmly initiated a countdown, retracting his fingers one after the other.
