Chapter 2 First meeting

It was 8:20 pm and the Roswell family were all gathered at the dining hall enjoying dinner .

" So Laura what do you intend to do now that you're out " Mrs Roswell ask

" Well I got first class in computer engineering and programming so I am thinking of finding a stable job " Laura said smiling .

"Like you can even keep a stable job "Jenny muttered .

"What did you say? " Mrs Roswell asked glaring at her , Jenny rolled her eyes and flung her hair backwards.

" I said nothing "she said

" I clearly heard what you said twin sister "

"Oh you do wow I am sad , but that's the truth . No one will be willing to work with a psychopath who just got released from a mental hospital " Jenny said nonchalantly.

"Jenny don't speak to her like that " Ricardo warns .

" But.."

"Shut up Jenny do you think you're better than Laura huh "

"Stop yelling at Jenny she's saying the truth which you all won't accept "

"Dad, " Ricardo yells .

"Don't add me Ricardo , you should be scolding and advising your younger sister on how to make good use of her life" Mr Roswell yelled.

Laura won't say this out but she felt bad the way her father talks about her , her father makes it look like she's a hopeless broken being . Everyone says she's mentally not okay but to her she's perfectly fine , the problem here is that she's naturally a free spirited stubborn girl who loves doing the opposite of what people want her to do .

" She's useless and..."

"Am not useless " Laura yells and all eyes turn to her.

" Laura is this Laura is that , that's all I have been hearing . Laura do this and Laura do that , have you ever bothered to ask for my own opinions anyways that's none of my business.

Don't ever call me useless" Laura said smiling , her smile is just to cover up how hurt she was from inside .

" Like seriously is that all you got to say? '' Jenny said .

"What's your problem with me Jenny or so you want me to tie you and shove you into the refrigerator " Laura snaps and Jenny flinches and turns to their father .

"Dad are you hearing her, she wants to put me in the refrigerator like she did on our birthday" Jenny screamed and Laura rolled her eyes , she could still remember how bad their 18th birthday went . Laura intentionally locks Jenny inside their refrigerator and she almost froze to death and the reason is because Jenny was dating her crush .

"You won't do no such , you see when I say you're useless I mean it . Why don't you go out there and make meaning of your life rather than frustrating all of us " Mr Roswell holler .

"You know what am done with this dinner " Laura said and rose up

"Laura baby calm down and..." Mrs Roswell was still saying when Laura stumped out and she shot her husband and daughter a hard glare .

"You are hurting her feelings David and I don't like it " Mrs Roswell said walk away .

Laura locked her room and sat on her bed while biting her fingers. She does this even when she's sad, bored or angry .

"Laura opens the door, I wanna talk to you "Mrs Roswell said knocking on the door .

"Go away mom am trying to think "

"C'mon baby don't take into heart what your dad and sister said "Mrs Roswell said and Laura scoffed .

" It's okay mom just go I need to clear my head " Laura said and Mrs Roswell sigh knowing full well Laura won't open the door no matter what.

"Good night my dear "Mrs Roswell mumbled and turned to leave but she found Ricardo also standing there with a worried look on her face .

" Don't worry mom she's going to come around soon "

"Your dad and Jenny are my problem, they are installing the feeling that Laura is useless because of her... " Mrs Roswell mumbled .

"It's okay mom, don't worry , Laura will always be Laura . She's unique in her own ways and that uniqueness will secure a great space for her " Ricardo said and hugged his mother.

Laura sat in front of her door , she's been listening to them all this while and she felt really emotional.

" I won't cry , Laura take heart and be strong "she encouraged herself and wiped her tears , a big smile formed on her face .

"Am going to prove oldboy and babbie girl that I am not useless , I am going to get a job tomorrow. Hahaha, I am going to show them who the boss is " she said grinning .

She grabbed her laptop and started searching for job openings , she found numerous jobs and she applied for a few of them . After she was done she shutdown her laptop and went to bed .

The night ran out in the speed of light and it was dawn , Laura was the first to wake up . She rushes to her wardrobe after taking her bath , she pulls out a black skirt and white long sleeve turtleneck. She packed her hair with a band and stared at her reflection in the mirror .

" I look super hot "she giggled and grabbed her file bag and stumped out of her room .

"Good morning everyone " Laura's loud cheerful voice echoed as she climbed down stairs , Mrs Roswell who was preparing breakfast gasp as soon as she saw her pretty daughter while Mr Roswell who sat on the couch with a newspaper scoffed with an eye roll .

"And where is my sunshine heading to "

"Good morning mom and for your question I am going out to find a job " Laura said and her father chuckled out loud .

"Don't mind your dad, I wish you luck , anyway breakfast is almost ready won't you..."

"Nah don't worry mom I will buy snacks but for now I need to hurry up "she said she rushed out .

"Where is Mrs happy rushing off to " Jenny asks as she climbs down stairs dressed in a seductive red gown , she owns a boutique and so far the business is in her favour.

"She's going out to search for a job " Mr Roswell said and they both laugh while Mrs Roswell scoffs and walks back into the kitchen.

Laura's hopes were crushed over and over again as she got rejected 10 times from 10 different companies and now she's running out of options. Most of the companies did a deep background checkup on her and they rejected her because of her mental state . Other companies manage requests to sleep with her before giving her the job .

It was 3: 40pm and Laura walked sluggishly under the gushing sun .

"This is really hard "she mumbled , she was absent minded as she walked and out of nowhere a black car sped towards her . The horn of the car brought her back to reality and she quickly dived out of the way and she fell on the ground and bruised her arm and knee .

"Ashhh "she winced and furiously got up , the car halted and the driver rushed out .

"Am sorry ma'am , am so sorry "

"You almost killed me , are you practising fast and furious?" Laura yells .

"Am so sorry ma'am but you were also at fault " the driver said calmly and Laura grit her teeth furiously.

" Tommy what the hell are you still out there " a deep baritone voice echoed and Laura turned to the car .

"Boss am..." Tommy was about to say when a tall masculine man stepped out of the car dressed in a black suit and black shade .

" Your driver almost killed me and .."

"And what , you were the one walking in the middle of the road . If you're planning to commit suicide then go jump off a bridge , do you know how much my car worth " Damian said rudely and Laura bite her lips .

" You punk is that all you could say , you're so full of yourselves who the hell do you think you are "Laura yelled , Damian gave her a perplexed look then he took off his glasses .

" Look here young lady I know girls like , you are attention seekers . Am sure you're crushing on me . Here is my card, call me and I will tell you the hotel we should meet . Am sure you're dying to have sex with me "he said licking his lips , he put the card in her shirt breast pocket and after doing that he walked back into the car .

"Tommy " Damian call

"Am sorry once again " Tommy said and rushed to the car , Laura watched as the car drove off speedily.

" That..that ahh "she screamed and rough her hair , she picked up the card.

"Now I see why you look so furious. Olivia said and handed a cup of water to Laura who gulped it down and put the cup down. Laura narrated the whole story to her or how she met the rude jerk .

"Hahaha C'mon girl most rich guys are like that " Olivia said and sat on the couch in front of Laura . Laura and Olivia have been friends since highschool.

" Am happy you're back girl I so much miss you " Olivia said smiling but Laura rolled her eyes , she's still upset .

" What ever Olie " she said and Olivia giggled .

"C'mon don't tell me that jerk is the reason why you're angry " Olivia ask

"Am thinking of millions of ways to pay him back , if only I know him then I will surely bend his ego " Laura said and then she remembered his card , she shovelled her hand into her breast pocket and she pulled out the card .

" That jerk , he thinks i'm a call girl or something" Laura yells and squeezes the card then she throws it away .

"Geez calm down girl , your blood is boiling " Olivia said and picked up the card , she gasped when she saw the name printed on the card .

"Oh my god oh my god , this is Damian Freeman business card "

"Damian who " Laura asks and Olivia looks up at her shock .

" You mean to say you met Damian Freeman, like the billionaire Damian Freeman " Olivia asks with eyes wide open while Laura arch her brows confused .

" Who is this Damian Freeman and why do you look so funny "she asks and Olivia screams and jumps on her .

"Oh my god don't tell me you know nothing about the handsome sexy Damian Freeman CEO of Golden Dawn Builders Corporation North America 1st most successful building and construction company recognized world wide " Olivia said .

" Oh is that so "Laura said less I treated but Oil is making a big fuse out of it .
