Chapter 5 C5

Amelia walked up still feeling light headed. The first thing that she noticed was the white ceiling, next is the unfamiliar window on her right and the all white surroundings. She raised her hand and she saw the attached IV fluid on her arm. Then all of a sudden, someone caught her arm and her mother's face appeared before her eyes.

Her mother was teary eyed when she talked to her. "How are you feeling, Amelia?"

"Mom," she was confused. Then as if everything was replayed, she remembered everything that happened before she lost her consciousness. She shed tears while reaching for her belly. "Mom... is my child-"

"Yes, my dear. You and your child are safe," her mother smiled at her. "It's a good thing that Andrew brought you immediately here at the hospital."

"But where is he?" She asked in a small voice, her eyes were searching just to find the familiar figure of her husband. "Where is he, Mom?"

"He went out earlier and had never returned, Amelia," she was disheartened to hear about it. And her mother should have noticed that. "Don't worry, he'll probably come back soon..."

"You know that your husband is the CEO of the company. This will always happen..."

She knew that for a fact. Andrew had devoted himself to working as the CEO of the Golden Empire Development Group. If that incident didn't happen earlier, she would have acknowledged it the same way as her mother did. But then she knew her husband didn't want to see her. Andrew was probably staying away as much as he could to not get involved with her.

She was tempted to tell everything to her parents. However, Amelia realized just by staring at them that she had no heart to get them involved in their own problems. She and Andrew had to deal with the problem themselves.

It's hard to think that someone might be trying to ruin their marriage. God knows that she's innocent and those photos are clearly edited with her pictures. But how can she make her husband listen to her? How can she make Andrew believe her that she's innocent and was telling the truth all along?

She shed tears that alarmed her parents. They told her that she shouldn't be stressed as she was susceptible to bleeding. Her attending doctor instructed them that she'll be on strict bed rest for a few days or so. They cannot risk her having another bleeding again or that will surely endanger not just her life but as well as the child's.

Andrew had told everyone that she had met with an accident inside the study room. He didn't give an elaborate explanation to everyone and she somewhat felt relieved as she didn't want anyone to know about the cause of their disagreement.

Those photos, Amelia doesn't want to even remember them but it keeps popping in her head. It's like torture that she couldn't evade as if those photos are already embedded deep into her mind.

A few hours or so and her husband came. Andrew just took a brief glance at her then greeted her parents. He informed them that he couldn't stay for too long. That he just came by to check on her and to settled all the hospital bills at the lobby. He left the room at once and told them that he'll be out of town for a few days and that if they needed anything, they can call him or his secretary instead.

"What a busy man," her father even commented. "I can't imagine having a husband like him. It's as if you are married to a workaholic man, Amelia."

"He is, Dad. He is," was all he could say and pretend to fall asleep afterwards.

After two long days, Amelia got discharge from the hospital and her parent brought her back to their home. Still her attending doctor strictly advised her to bed rest for at least the rest of her pregnancy. Her husband was present when she was discharge, however, Andrew suggested that it's probably better that she stay with her parents for the whole duration of her pregnancy just so they could look after her.

Amelia wanted to say that she could take care of herself at the comfort of their home but Andrew made her feel that she's unwanted. That he'll probably make her feel worthless for the rest of their days. That's what his cold gaze was suggesting. And as to now suffer from the same situation again, she agreed with this kind of arrangement.

It's for the best, she told herself. She can't risk having an argument once more with Andrew knowing he's not open for resolution. That in his eyes, she had already committed infidelity and that was a grave sin. And those photos, that will haunt her for as long as she's inside of the mansion and her husband will surely shove it to herself how low of a woman she had become.

Does her love cannot make her see that she can't do all those things to him? Can't he not see that she loved him so much that it hurts?

Amelia was looking ahead. It's already almost five in the afternoon. The sun was starting to set on the west. And she was outside of their humble abode, rocking her chair gently.

She was just feeling the moment of silence with nature while caressing her belly. Amelia was now in her fifth month of pregnancy And she's grateful that the child inside of her was safe and healthy according to her last prenatal check up.

"Isn't it cold right now, Amelia?" She looked at her side and saw her mother approaching. Amelia smiled as her mother brought her a cup of hot milk. "Here, have some."

"Thank you, Mom. Where's Dad by the way?"

"He's probably on his way here from the restaurant."

They both look outside of their home when a tinted car parked outside of her low gate. Amelia saw a woman get out of the car and when she took off her glasses, she got to see the familiar face she alway sees every once in a while.

Stella came to visit her again. But this time, she came with another purpose.

~*~

Are you sure about this?

Andrew was seated on the swivel chair inside of his study room. He had a glass of brandy at hand while looking at their wedding photo on his table. He just got back from the dinner meeting and felt the need to drink. There's nothing really that changed since his wife lives with her parents. Only the images of her haunt him from every corner of this mansion. And it felt that there's something missing even if there's none.

He's not considerate but it's for the best that his wife will be out of his reach. Andrew knew what he was capable of. And he couldn't promise that he would behave like he used to. It's different this time. Everything about her just reminds him of those photos. Photos that seemed to be buried deep inside of his memory.

Amelia probably received those papers right now, he told himself as he poured his empty glass with brandy. She just has to sign those and their marriage is over.
