The doctor already left to prepare for another operation in the next hour. Andrew was left standing outside of the Emergency Room. He saw his wife lying on the hospital bed being transferred by the staff to her private room. And yes, she's asleep just as the doctor has said. He even saw the dried tears on her face when her bed rolled past him.
He didn't follow her right away. Yes, he was relieved that they are now safe from the danger that he caused but there's a part of him that didn't want to see her. Amelia just keeps reminding him of what she just did behind his back.
Andrew sat back on the nearby bench and refused to answer who's calling his cellphone. He needed time to think and to recollect his thoughts. There's a lot of questions running inside his head. All of a sudden the future became uncertain. And he so wanted to scream on top of his lungs because of what Amelia did to him.
If he was like any other man, he would have killed his wife with her man. But then death would be just an easy escape. And Andrew was not kind enough to just let her have an easy death.
His both arms on his thighs, he covered his face and reveled on the silence around him. Andrew was breathing slowly, containing all the overwhelming emotions inside of him when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and saw his mother looking at him, concern was written all over her face. Andrew stood up and hugged his parents.
"Where is she?" His mother asked. "Is she safe and the baby?"
"They are already out of danger, Mom," Andrew mentioned. "She's now in her private room, sleeping."
"Thank goodness," his mother was teary eyed while cupping his face. "At least the child is safe. That's all that matters."
He's aware that his parents, most especially his mother, didn't approve his marriage to Amelia. They wanted to marry him to someone who came from an upper class family like themselves. And since Amelia came from an average family, someone who had a pretty decent business, his mother saw her as a social climber. She was against their relationship in the first place but he fought for the love that they had till the end. It's a long argument but he managed to make her acknowledge Amelia still and so their marriage happened.
They've been civil since then.
His mother nor anyone inside their mansion knew what really happened to him and Amelia. And he didn't want to in fear of being judged that he had made the wrong decision of marrying the likes of her.
His mother used to tell him that he should have married Stella. Stella was Amelia's friend. The woman came from a prominent business family and was almost as equal as the Thompsons.
Speaking of the devil, they heard the sound of heels coming to them. They all turned around to meet her, still in her suit and stilettos.
"I just got back from the trip and just arrived late at the mansion when I heard what happened," Stella hugged him and so was his parents. "Is Amelia and the child alright?"
"Yes, they are. She's already inside of her private room."
"Then what are we still doing out here?" She asked everyone. "Let's go see her-"
His mother shook her head. "Stella, dear. That I can't do. It's enough that our grandchild is safe. It would be too much for me to see that woman that almost endangered my grandchild's life," she came to his father and bid her farewell. "Maybe I will see her sometime but not today. We have to fix things in the mansion that that woman cause trouble." And said to contact them if there's anything needed to be settled before they leave.
"Was your mother still-"
He shook his head, and didn't want to talk about it for now. "Let me accompany you to where she is. She'll probably need you now."
"Didn't Amelia need you the most, Andrew?" Stella's forehead creased as they walked side to side. "What are you talking about?"
His haw hardened. "I believe we should talked about this in somewhere private," Andrew said through gritted teeth as he walked ahead from her. And Stella watched his back, confused as to the sudden coldness from Andrew Thompson.

Andrew got inside of the private room together with Stella. At the moment, a nurse was checking Amelia's vitals and when she's done, left them after bidding goodbye. Stella went near the bed where his wife was lying. Amelia was still sleeping and there's a few IV fluid injected to her.
He maintained his distance just enough that he could still see her face. And Stella noticed it.
"Why don't you see your wife, Andrew? What's your deal?" Stella get closed to him and asked. There's an obvious curiousity in her face. "Are'nt you concerned about-"
"It's enough that I see her safe and the baby. I cannot force myself to get near her or God know what can I do, Stella," Andrew heaved a deep sigh and walked towards the window. "Do not ask me why-"
"Why?" She drastically pulled him back so he would face her. "You don't say to me not to ask when it's obvious that you two have a problem."
"Tell me. Then maybe we could work things out."
"Amelia cheated on me," he said. Andrew saw Stella was taken aback by his words. He nodded as he smile in controlled anger. "Yes, she did. I have proof of her infidelity."
"This can't be serious?" Amelia's friend tired to reason him. "For a fact, I know how much Amelia loves you. She's your wife, Andrew. This can't happen-"
"But it did, Stella. And I have the photos," he fetched his phone and showed it to her. "Now tell me if I'm mistaken..."
"This is my wife, right? My wife was having an affair with another man behind my back!" Andrew said to Stella in front of his sleeping wife.
