Chapter 4 The Last Person He Should Mess With

Valentina's grandfather called the second she walked into her bedroom.

"Valentina, do you miss me after being away from me for so long? You're scheduled to get the marriage certificate with Kolton tomorrow, right?"

A deep sense of longing overcame Valentina when she heard her grandfather's voice, and she felt aggrieved.

"Grandpa, I want to come home."

"What's wrong? Are you upset? Did someone upset you?"

Valentina complained, "You know I'm not interested in getting married. I'm only twenty years old. Who gets married at such a young age? Besides, I don't like that bastard Kolton even a little bit!"

"Silly girl. He is my future grandson-in-law and I have thoroughly looked into him. You don't like him right now because you don't know him well. Your feelings will change once you get to know him."

"Grandpa! I truly don't like him! Why are you insisting on our marriage?"

"We had a deal, remember? I will tell you everything after two years. Right now, you just need to follow my advice and live a happy life with Kolton. Listen to me. I will keep my promise!"

Valentina became excited when this was mentioned.

"Of course, I will listen to you, Grandpa. Two years later, you won't stop me from divorcing him, and you have to keep your word."

"Okay, okay!"

After Valentina disconnected the call, her spirits improved.

Although she was unwilling to marry Kolton, she considered the deal with her grandfather. Well, it was worth it!

Valentina's mood had improved, but Kolton was still furious.

He sat at his desk and took a deep drag of his cigarette. His expression darkened.

He was miserable at being forced to marry such a young girl, but he endured it for the sake of his grandfather's health.

He had intended to live peacefully with her for two years, but he didn't expect her to be so rebellious.

She was brusque, and her actions were even more irritating.

She had only been in the city for a few days, but she had managed to piss him off every day. And today, she even slapped Sheri.

Before he could teach her a lesson, she humiliated him.

She called him shameless and a loser. How did she have the nerve to say that?

If it were anyone else, Kolton would have put her in her place a long time ago. However, his hands were tied because his grandfather doted on her.

Moreover, she was only twenty years old, while he was twenty-nine. It was mortifying for a man to entangle with a girl nine years his junior.

He could neither shout at her nor raise his hand on her!

Was he really going to marry such a young girl? She was obviously the last person he should mess with.

Realizing that he would have to spend two more years with Valentina, Kolton's head began throbbing.

At this moment. his assistant, Jackson Davis, sent him a message.

"Sir, I have sent you Valentina Dixon's information."

Kolton quickly checked his e-mail. After going through it carefully, he called Jackson.

"Why did you only send the information from the past year? What about before that?"

The information indicated that Valentina and her grandfather had suddenly arrived in the suburbs. During the past year, they had made a living from farming and treating the residents of that village.

But there were no details on what had occurred before that time.

There were no particulars about her birth and her parents. Her entire life history before she turned eighteen was also missing.

Jackson replied, "I'm intrigued as well. Geoffrey personally dug up this information, but he could only find this much."

Kolton was tongue-tied.

Even a top-notch hacker like Geoffrey Collins, for whom breaking into another country's secret database was child's play, couldn't unearth her information. This meant that her identity was well-hidden.

Did ordinary people need to hide their identities so deliberately? Of course not!

So what was the background of this arrogant woman?

Kolton's curiosity was piqued, but after a moment's silence, he instructed, "Since you can't discover it, stop the investigation."

Then he disconnected the call.

He disliked Valentina and didn't want to waste his time or resources on her.

Anyway, he had a deal with his grandfather to only be her husband for two years. As soon as that period expired, he would divorce her.
