Chapter 6 She Must Get Rid Of This Woman

Thalia was aware that Sabina was the celebrity Brayan had recently been heavily promoting, and her sudden appearance was undoubtedly due to some private matters. So, she politely stepped aside.

However, as soon as Sabina saw the woman standing beside Brayan, she stopped abruptly in her tracks.

Wasn't this the woman who had spent the night with Brayan that fateful night?

Sabina broke out in a cold sweat, worried that her secret might've been exposed. But on second thought, she realized that if her little jig was up, then how could she have smoothly come to his office?

It seemed like... there had to be a reason why this woman didn't want Brayan to know the truth about that night.

But even if she was right about her guess, there was still a huge risk if this woman was around. Thus, Sabina made up her mind to get rid of this woman.

Brayan, growing impatient with Sabina's silence, repeated himself in a stern tone. "I said, how did you know I was here?"

Sabina quickly regained her composure and mustered her softest expression. "Brayan, I knew you'd recently acquired this company, so I figured you'd be here."

Brayan disliked it most when people pried into his whereabouts. Unable to hide the annoyance in his voice, he asked briskly, "What do you want?"

Sabina had only intended to visit Brayan in an attempt to draw them closer, as their relationship had grown cold as soon as Brayan compensated her for the supposed night they shared together.

He bought into her words that they had sex, but apart from helping her skyrocket to fame, he had been quite distant.

She was afraid she'd lose her status if things went on like this, so she wanted to seize any opportunity to become more intimate with Brayan. Unexpectedly, she ran into the woman who could ruin everything.

Sabina racked her brains for a solution. Suddenly, a thought occurred to her. "Brayan, didn't you give me the opportunity to attend the SHANEL event? The celebrities that attend that event always wear SHANEL's latest collection, but I can't seem to get my hands on any of the couture pieces. I'm worried I might embarrass you if I show up in anything that's ready-to-wear."

It was just a minor request, so Brayan responded indifferently, instructing, "Talk to my assistant, Jasper Hoffman. He'll handle it."

"No." Sabina shook her head and then pointed at Thalia. "Jasper doesn't understand this stuff. It'd be better for a woman to choose my clothes. Brayan, why not have your secretary buy it for me?"

Thalia's eyebrows shot up in surprise. Since Sabina specifically wanted her to do this task, Thalia began to wonder what her motives were.

Brayan, on the other hand, didn't take this matter seriously and believed that Sabina genuinely thought Thalia would have a better understanding of the fashion world. So, he agreed to her request and said to Thalia, "Go and buy her a dress. I'll reimburse you afterward."

"I'm not sure if this is appropriate, Mr. Rogers," Thalia faltered hesitantly. "I've only ever been responsible for internal company matters; I've never dealt with the boss's private affairs before."

Upon hearing this, Brayan cast a quick glance in her direction and casually commented, "Your team needs to deliver even more value than it did before."

Although his words seemed harmless, they left Thalia momentarily stunned.

Thalia was the secretary-general of the CEO's Office. She managed the secretary department, as well as several assistants.

When Brayan acquired Elegance Jewelers, he had brought in his own team, and many of the company's original employees were laid off.

Naturally, the mass layoffs had put the remaining staff on edge.

This meant that Thalia had no choice but to accept for her team's sake. "Understood, Mr. Rogers."

A sinister look flashed across Sabina's eyes after she witnessed this interaction. A mere secretary wouldn't be able to compete with her!

As Thalia left the CEO's office, she gritted her teeth angrily, unable to shake off her lingering annoyance.

In just two days of working for Brayan, she had been bombarded with inconvenience after inconvenience.

It seemed like the divorce was inevitable.

Thinking of this, Thalia recalled that Brayan hadn't responded to the divorce agreement she had sent to him. She decided to use the phone number that she had used to contact Brayan previously and sent him a text as his wife. "I've already sent the divorce agreement. How much more time do you need before signing?"

Seconds later, she received a reply.

"What divorce agreement?"

Thalia furrowed her brows, wondering how Brayan wasn't able to receive the divorce agreement.

She pondered for a moment, and then a benevolent face came to mind.

Of course, it had to be Brayan's grandma, Denise Rogers, who secretly intercepted the divorce agreement. After all, Thalia's marriage to Brayan had been arranged by her grandpa and Brayan's grandma.

So, after work, Thalia headed straight for the Rogers family's mansion to confront Denise.

"Yes, I was the one who put the divorce agreement away." Denise responded to Thalia's inquiry, her expression tinged with a hint of guilt, yet maintaining a firm stance.

Thalia sighed in resignation. "Denise..."

"Why do you want a divorce in the first place? You two seem very compatible," Denise said, trying to persuade her. "If there are any misunderstandings between you two, it can be resolved. Divorce is no trivial matter, you know!"

Thalia, however, remained resolute. "Love can't be forced. Brayan and I... we can't go on like this."

Just as she finished speaking, a servant approached and said, "Madam, Mr. Brayan Rogers has arrived."

Thalia's eyes went as wide as saucers, a hint of panic flickering across her face.
