Chapter 4 Is She Mr. Rogers's Girlfriend

Brayan scrutinized Thalia, looking her up and down, his gaze as sharp as an eagle's.

With just the two of them alone in the conference room, Thalia felt uneasy under his intent gaze and couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Rogers, is there something else you need from me?"

"I have a dinner meeting with some business partners tonight. You'll be coming with me." Brayan spoke in a calm tone, and only then did he withdraw his gaze.

Thalia subconsciously frowned, reluctant to get entangled with Brayan any further. After all, the less interactions she had with her soon-to-be ex-husband, the better.

But now that Brayan was her boss, she had no choice but to comply with his orders. Forcing a polite smile, she nodded obediently and said, "Of course, Mr. Rogers."

Thalia walked out of the conference room with gritted teeth, mentally counting the days remaining on her contract; she planned to resign the moment it expired.

When it was time for the dinner meeting, Brayan and Thalia headed to the basement parking garage together.

All of a sudden, Brayan tossed the car keys to Thalia. "You drive."

Thalia's eyes went as wide as saucers. "Don't you have a driver? And a personal assistant?"

"With your exceptional abilities, I'm sure you'll be more than enough." Brayan smirked at her nonchalantly.

Thalia clenched her hand around the car keys so tightly that they dug into her palm. Still, she was able to keep a professional fake smile on her face, saying, "Mr. Rogers, you really have a high opinion of me, don't you?"

But in reality, Thalia wanted to say that using one person to do the work of two people was nothing more than exploitation! Fortunately, she managed to stop herself from saying this out loud.

Brayan could tell that she was annoyed, his eyes filled with amusement. He couldn't help but chuckle and ask, "Do you not know how to drive? Or are you just unwilling to?"

Thalia smiled, and with a hint of sarcasm, she said, "If you really want me to drive, then there's no reason for me not to."

With that, Thalia got into the driver's seat, while Brayan headed for the passenger's seat.

Thalia wasn't short, but she did have a slender frame. Brayan's usual driver was a burly man of nearly six feet, so the driver's seat's position was a little uncomfortable for her.

Seeing her struggle, Brayan leaned over and adjusted the driver's seat for her.

His distinctive cologne filled her nostrils, instantly triggering the memories of their fateful night together.

Thalia's pupils dilated, and she subconsciously shrank away from him, her breathing growing heavy.

"Er, thank you, Mr. Rogers..."

Brayan keenly noticed Thalia's reaction. Raising an eyebrow playfully, he teased, "I only adjusted the seat for you. Why are you so nervous?"

Thalia avoided Brayan's curious gaze and replied defiantly, "I'm not nervous!"

Brayan decided against pressing the issue further, though he found this woman increasingly intriguing. "Just relax and focus on driving."

Then he leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes to rest.

Thalia breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Brayan was no longer staring at her.

Soon, they arrived at the designated restaurant.

The two headed to the private dining room together, where several business partners were already waiting. Each one nodded to Brayan as soon as they entered, trying to butter up to him.

As they were ushered into the room, Thalia humbly followed Brayan and was seated on his left.

This dinner was hosted by a man named Claud Ahmed, and from the moment Thalia stepped foot inside the room, his eyes never left her.

He cautiously asked Brayan, "This young lady is so beautiful. Is she your girlfriend, Mr. Rogers?"

Hearing this, Thalia nearly choked on the water she was drinking. She hastily explained before Brayan could respond, saying, "I'm Mr. Rogers's secretary."

Brayan shot an unhappy glance at Thalia. It seemed as though she was a bit too eager to distance herself from him.

So it turned out she was just Brayan's secretary. The men at the table exchanged knowing glances and began taking turns to toast Thalia.

Though Thalia found these men repulsive, it was part of her job to cater to them, so she accepted each toast.

After a few rounds of drinks, everyone at the table started to get tipsy.

Claud, with a lecherous smile on his face, kept staring at Thalia's figure with squinty eyes. "Miss Palmer, you can handle your liquor well."

Thalia, now somewhat inebriated from the countless toasts, shook her head without saying a word.

Claud, noticing her condition, picked up his glass and stood up from his seat. He clinked glasses with Thalia and said, "Come on, Miss Palmer-one more drink."

Thalia knew herself well, and she knew that another glass would be the end of her.

But before she could decline, Claud continued to pressure her. "You wouldn't refuse me, would you?"

With a forced smile, Thalia suppressed her discomfort and raised her glass, saying, "Mr. Ahmed, how can I refuse you?"

As Thalia raised her glass to her lips, Claud watched her with a grin and, in a casual manner, placed his hand on her back.

Thalia's body tensed up instantly, and even through her clothing, she could feel his palm inching toward her lower back. It was repulsive!
