Chapter 6 Mr. Reynolds, I'm Scared

Thea grappled with a daunting decision. If she struck him, the consequences could be dire.

And besides, she had spent the night with a charming stranger. What harm could a night with Mr. Reynolds do?

The turmoil in her mind made it hard for her to decide.

She was met with silence from Mr. Reynolds, who made no attempt to advance or react to her thoughts.

"Mr. Reynolds?"

Thea ventured, her voice trembling.

Had he left the room?

Poking her head out, she saw him still standing at the door. At the sound of her call, his tall frame approached. Fear gripped Thea, causing her to withdraw.

"I'm scared," she admitted, her voice soft and docile. It was a stark contrast to the confident woman she usually presented herself as. Colton, however, felt a surge of anger in response to her sudden shift in demeanor. He'd never seen her exhibit such fear outside this villa.

After a brief moment, he turned away and left the bedroom, convinced that Thea was playing a role.

Upon hearing the door close, Thea cautiously crawled out of bed, her eyes gradually adjusting to the dim light. She activated the bedroom lights and hurriedly moved to lock the door.

As Colton heard the door locking, his expression soured. With a glance toward the bedroom, he decided to retire to his study for some rest.

Thea, no longer obligated to spend the night with Mr. Reynolds, was in high spirits. She leaped onto the bed and settled beneath the covers.

Morning came, and Thea's phone jolted her awake. She answered it groggily, and then sat up abruptly. "Don't let them harm my mother! I'm on my way."

Without wasting a moment, Thea hung up, threw on her clothes, and rushed out the door.

She sprinted downstairs, bypassing the dining room without a glance, and dashed out of the mansion.

Colton, who was having breakfast at the dining table, watched Thea's frantic exit and instructed Greyson, "Arrange for a car for her."

Her sudden departure left him pondering, yet she didn't seem concerned about maintaining her obedient facade.

Originally, he had intended to have a conversation with her, but he'd lost his appetite. He ascended the stairs to change his attire before heading to the Reynolds Group's branch office.

Outside the gate, Thea paused to observe the grandeur of the mansion. Only then did she realize she was in Emerald Mansion, a thought confirmed when Greyson informed her of Mr. Reynolds's involvement in her transportation.

Her thoughts drifted back to the dining room as she rushed downstairs. It was only then that she recognized Mr. Reynolds had been present.

Though she hadn't seen him clearly and had no opportunity to explain herself, she'd hastily entered the car and directed Greyson to the hospital.

Upon arriving at the ward's entrance, Thea overheard a commotion from inside. She barged into the room and positioned herself defensively at the bedside.

"What are you doing here?" she demanded, her anger palpable as she confronted Maggie and the group of bodyguards.

"Nothing. We're relocating your mother to another hospital," Maggie replied with a disdainful smirk. Dressed fashionably in high heels, she viewed Thea with contempt. "She hasn't woken up yet, and it's a waste of money keeping her in such an expensive place."

"Don't you dare touch her!" Thea warned, her eyes blazing with anger.

Maggie dismissed Thea's threat with a mocking laugh. "Haha! Thea, do you think you're someone special because you are now living in the Reynolds family's villa? You bitch!" Maggie had been frustrated that she couldn't put Thea in her place at home the previous day, and her mood had soured.

"You're nothing but a lapdog of the Russell family!"

As she spoke, Maggie wanted to raise her hand to slap Thea. In a fit of anger, Thea kicked her hard, which made the defenseless Maggie fall to the floor with a bang. She lifted her foot again, making Maggie unable to stand up.

"Even a lapdog will bite if you push it too far, bitch," Thea retorted, not one to curb her fiery temper.

She had endured the Russell family's threats for years but had never let it tame her spirit.
