Chapter 4 My Wife Is So Obedient

"Alright!"

Thea declared after drinking another glass of wine. She rose from her seat and confidently strutted toward a strikingly handsome man and a stunning woman engaged in a lively game of rock-paper-scissors at the other end of the bar.

Colton wasn't exactly fond of the raucous atmosphere of bars.

He had been lured here by his friend, Ruben Gibson. The two had entered the establishment through a different entrance, taking them to the third floor.

This bar had a peculiar layout. The ground floor was open to the public, making it easily accessible to beautiful women.

However, the upper floors, particularly the third floor, were reserved for only a select few.

"What's on your neck? Did you have some fun?"

Ruben immediately noticed the mark on Colton's neck as soon as they sat down.

Ten days ago, everyone had learned of Colton's unusual predicament: the need to choose a wife.

His decision had raised eyebrows. Among their group, only Colton and Oliver Spencer remained single. While Oliver's situation had some hidden complexity, Colton's apparent lack of romantic involvement was simply perplexing.

It was no wonder that Talia, feigning illness, had coerced him into selecting a wife.

"That girl is..."

"She's from the Russell family."

"What?"

Ruben was taken aback. "The Russell family, a third-rate family in Flison?"

Ruben wasn't particularly knowledgeable about third-rate families, but he had heard the stories surrounding the Russell family from eight years ago.

"It's rather curious. Is the Russell family's daughter that captivating? Why would you jump into bed with her right after returning?"

Colton's mention of the Russell family brought a faint smile to his eyes.

"Is she beautiful?"

"Not bad."

Colton's reply was accompanied by a smile. He left the private room and headed to the corridor's railing. There, he retrieved a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. As he gazed down at the young men and women dancing in the hall, he couldn't help but recall the passionate encounter he'd had with the beautiful girl the night before.

"She's obedient."

Colton stated simply. As he glanced at her photo, he couldn't help but feel that the girl was obedient and might be the perfect wife for him.

Sipping from a glass of red wine, Ruben was taken aback by Colton's seemingly modest criteria for choosing a wife. There were countless beautiful and obedient women in the world, after all. Moreover, he wondered if the second daughter of the Russell family was truly as obedient as Colton believed. The rumors he'd heard suggested otherwise.

Just as Ruben was about to question Colton further, a loud commotion erupted downstairs. A stunning young woman had suddenly yanked a young man, who was entangled with other women, out of his booth. She delivered a stinging slap to his face before hurling him over her shoulder!

Afterwards, the girl promptly retrieved her phone and snapped pictures of the hapless man, who was still writhing on the floor.

Ruben was stunned by the spectacle. "Young, beautiful girls these days are absolutely fearless!"

He turned to glance at Colton, who was wearing an uncharacteristically grave expression. Colton finished his cigarette and then made his way towards the elevator.

"Colton!"

Ruben called out to him. Just moments ago, Colton had spoken of his wife with a smile. Why did his demeanor suddenly turn so menacing?

After settling her business and collecting her payment, Thea was in high spirits. She momentarily forgot about the Russell family's affairs as she left the bar with Mabel.

Instead of rushing home, she decided to reward herself with a dessert. As she strolled along the sidewalk, the sound of a car horn from the opposite side of the road caught her attention.

She turned her head to gaze at the source of the noise. In the glow of the streetlights, her eyes were captivated by the car's sleek silhouette. A closer look revealed a familiar face—a stern, cold visage beside the car door.

Thea recognized him as the male escort from the previous night. Her face flushed with embarrassment. According to their arrangement, he was meant to remain a stranger after receiving his payment.

However, this man was now her responsibility, and she hadn't yet paid the full sum.

"Come over here!"

Colton beckoned to Thea as she stood rooted to the spot, unsure of what to do.
