Chapter 5 Get Killed

The news of an employee's murder caused a stir in the company. Employees are arguing with each other and the reality is painful. All because of this morning's news that the head of the product division passed away during a business trip.

"From the investigator's statement, there was nothing wrong with the car but why did it suddenly hit something? Is this a trap from someone?"

One of the employees who shared a room with the victim expressed his thoughts with his other friends. Meanwhile, some of them looked sad but also indifferent. Sympathy certainly exists between humans, it's just that if you think about it continuously then the problem will not be solved.

"Don't talk carelessly. Perhaps it was Mr. John's destiny to experience something like this. You've watched so many movies that you can't tell the difference between reality and fantasy. All of this is just a bad fate that befell Mr. John, let's just pray that his family is given patience."

The man sighed softly as his thoughts were disagreed with by his friend. "It's not that I can't tell the difference. It's just that most movies are based on true stories. It's just that you're avoiding reality and don't want to admit it. It could be that Mr. John had a dispute with someone and then that person planned a murder during his business trip. Everything is unpredictable."

"Never mind, never mind. Don't think about it. Let's finish eating and get back to work." One of the others tried to change the subject.

"But... didn't Mr. John leave with other colleagues including our president? Why don't they even know about this incident? Suspicious."

The heavy breathing of everyone made the man who had been expressing his thoughts fall silent and close his mouth tightly. The others didn't care and went back to focusing on their lunch.

While elsewhere, some three were gathering with an incident that they had just found out about. That was about one of the coworkers who had an accident while traveling with them including Alexander who had just arrived and already had to think about this matter.

"This business is important for the company but we also can't avoid the problem of Mr. John's accident. What should we do? I can't even think."

Alexander twiddled his fingers with a pensive look on his face. Two of his colleagues were confused with two choices. They were traveling to establish a contractual relationship with one of the overseas companies that would benefit the company, but on the other hand, their colleague had an accident that killed him. It's not that he didn't have sympathy for his coworkers, it's just that this contract had been awaited several months ago and it would be a waste of their hard work if it was canceled just like that.

The two men looked at Alexander who had been silent since his arrival. They were both confused now, but the choice to cancel the contract just like that also seemed disrespectful to the hard work that everyone had put in, and ignoring the issue of John's accident seemed disrespectful to coworkers let alone John's family.

"There is only one choice."

The two people looked more and more intently at Alexander who had just spoken. Waiting for him to express his current thoughts. Hoping that their new president was truly reliable and made them even more confident that Alexander could indeed lead the company with his hard work, not because of his son-in-law status.

"We share to take care of Mr. John and the other part continues the contract."

The two people looked at each other. There were only three of them and it was impossible to continue the contract without guidance. Their client was also about to arrive at the agreed place, and time would be running out if they ignored it.

"One goes back and takes care of Mr. John and the other is with me to continue the contract. The choice is yours, I won't force who will come with me. We've worked hard on this contract and just need to hand over the fruits of our labor. We also can't ignore Mr. John's problem. So, I think sharing is the best option now."

The two people looked at each other again before finally nodding in agreement. "Alright. I'll go back and take care of Mr. John's problem and Felix will come with you to take care of the contract."

Alexander nodded with a slight smile. Meanwhile, Eraik, who had agreed to return, immediately gave the necessary files and the flash drive to Felix. He quickly got up from his seat.

"I believe in you. President, please cooperate." Eraik said with emphasis on his call to Alexander as well as with a glance at the man.

Alexander nodded in response to Eraik's request. The man still seemed very skeptical of Alexander's way of working but Alexander understood because he had only been leading the company for a few weeks, let alone El group's big company. Receiving a lot of criticism and distrust from people who have been working for a long time is just a moment and Alexander just needs time to prove his ability to lead.

"Alright. I'll go first. Felix, take good care of our president, and let me know if anything happens."

"Of course Eraik. I'll make sure our cooperation is successful after this."

They shared a smile before Eraik finally departed from the restaurant where they had gathered. Alexander looked at Felix who was ready and they also left to meet the client immediately. Chasing the time before their client arrived first at the agreed place for the success of the contract that had been planned long ago.

Alexander was silent the whole way. His brain kept thinking about John's accident. He smiled so faintly with his face turned in the other direction. He tried to ignore it and chose to focus on the road with the car moving forward.

"Do you think someone deliberately remote Mr. John's car, Mr. Alex? I think this incident is very illogical. Mr. John always uses a driver wherever he goes, but not when this happened."

Alexander sighed softly. "We never know God's plan for human life, including death, Felix. Although I'm also curious about what happened, it's better to keep quiet and see the reality."

Alexander's words made Felix pause and think. The man looked back at his president with bad thoughts at the moment. But it was true that humans would never know God's plan, it was just that this was strange in Felix's opinion.

"It's better to focus on the cooperation contract first. We can think about Mr. John later when we're done with our work."

Alexander's words brought Felix back to his senses. The man was right in his thinking. It was better for Felix to think about their work than to think about John's accident. Their contract was also important for the company's development and could be recognized by more people later. Yes... better to ignore John's problem for now.

Alexander glanced at Felix who was silent and trying to calm down. He smiled sarcastically and looked away again. However, the contract was more important to him than John's death. Someone he hated and now he was gone. Alexander smiled back with a twinkle in his eye.
