Chapter 3 RESPONSIBILITIES.

CHAPTER 3: RESPONSIBILITIES.

"What are you doing on the news?" Lazlo Munroe, Trevor's dad, asked immediately he answered the phone.

"Good evening to you too dad! I've never been better," Trevor replied sarcastically, already expecting such an approach from his father.

"Good evening, son. So why are on the news? You also play hero nowadays too huh?" Lazlo asked his son.

"Not every hero wears a cape," Trevor replied. Lazlo grunted over the phone. "Come over to the house tomorrow when you're done for the day at the office." Lazlo instructed.

"Okay..." Trevor's voice trailed off. He didn't like the sound of that. "What for?" Trevor enquired, wondering, with a concerned look on his face.

"Just come over." Lazlo responded, ending the call. Trevor was used to his father ending calls on him that way, but this time, he wondered what his dad needed him for at the mansion.

Not dwelling much on the matter, Trevor went ahead to place the order to a fast food delivery outlet he usually patronized. In twenty minutes, they delivered what he ordered, promptly as always.

Receiving it, he went to the guest room and knocked on the door. Lilly opened the door cautiously. It didn't bother him that she acted that way. She was in the house of a total stranger.

"Your food is at the counter. Help yourself to it." Trevor said to Lilly, and turned away walking to his room upstairs to freshen up. Lilly exited the room, heading to the counter.

Finding the food where Trevor said it was, Lilly devoured it voraciously. She hadn't eaten all day and was hoping to have dinner with her uncle and his wife before the unfortunate incident happened.

She was done eating and washed the dishes. Using her wits, she was able to have the dishes placed appropriately where they ought to be in the kitchen.

Thirty minutes later, Trevor returned to the living room in a white bathrobe, having freshened up. He didn't find Lilly in the living room. He also saw that she had cleared out the plates and washed them.

He raised his eyebrows pursing his lips, chuckling softly in amazement. That was the first time any lady who ever came to his place did that. He got his favorite night time snack, switched off the lights, and was off to his room, retiring for the night.

Lilly woke up the next morning, refreshed, although she cried herself to sleep. Her emotional and physical exhaustion caused her to sleep deeply, and when she woke up, it was already some few minutes to 9 am.

Washing her face in the bathroom, she stepped out of her room. She didn't find any sign of Trevor being around. She headed to the counter, and found a note.

The note read, "Off to work. Didn't want to wake you up. Just in case you want to leave, you'll find some cash on the center table in the living room. But make sure you eat before leave. Trevor."

Lilly turned around and walked to the living room. She found an envelope on the center table. Opening it, she found it contained five thousand dollars. Her eyes widened in surprise. She wasn't expecting such a generous gesture from Trevor.

Just then, she heard the electric doorbell ring. It caused her heart to skip. She wondered who it was. If it were Trevor, he'd have walked right in. This got her scared.

The doorbell rang once again, so she decided to go towards the door.Through the little smart screen she saw the live footage of the person at the door. It was a food delivery guy.

"What do you want?" Lilly asked, cautiously skeptical about opening the door, taking all precautions not to fall a victim to the folks that may want her dead.

"Good morning. Mr Trevor asked me to deliver this to you." The delivery guy replied.

"You can drop it at the door and leave." Lilly instructed. "Are you sure it'll be okay if I do that ma'am?" The delivery guy asked, furrowing his brow.

"I said drop it and leave!" Lilly said sternly. "Yes ma'am." He answered responded, dropping the package, and walking away.

Lilly waited a while before she opened the door slowly, peeping through to see if anyone was there. She found no one. She quickly got the package and shut the door behind her.

Trevor had made arrangements for her breakfast knowing she would wake up hungry. She found his gestures heart warming. Unlike what the media purported about him, she saw a different side to him which was contrary to the public's belief.

Lilly heartily ate the sumptuous delicacy that was delivered to her, pondering what to do, now that she had such an amount of money at her disposal.

"Crap!" Trevor exclaimed. Engrossed with work, Trevor didn't realize how time how flown as always. He hurriedly began arranging his table, when he got a notification of someone requesting entry into his office.

Pressing a button on the control panel beside him, his door unlocked, and his secretary walked in. "Sir, I just got a call from Mr Seth's secretary, requesting that you schedule another meeting with his boss."

Trevor chuckled shaking his head. "Has Mr Seth agreed to our terms?" Trevor asked.

"Um, no sir." His secretary replied. "Then it'll be a fruitless circle of disagreements. We can't provide cyber security tech to someone who isn't ready to play ball the right way. The government has got their eyes on us like a hawk."

"Alright sir. Do you need anything else, sir?" His secretary asked, as Trevor stood up to leave.

"Not at all. Am done for the day. You can head home when you're done with whatever else you need to do." Trevor said walking out of his office with her.

Trevor got to his private parking lot and drove off in his bullet proof Range Rover, heading to his father's house.

Trevor arrived the house and was warmly welcomed by the stewards of the house. He warmly exchanged pleasantries with them.

"I see the love is still there for your family." Melissa, Trevor's mom spoke from behind him. Hearing her voice alone gladdened his heart. "Hey mommy," Trevor said as he hugged her with a big smile.

"Hey baby." Melissa held her son tight, before they both released each other. "You look lovely as always." Trevor commended.

"Mmm. How was work today?" Melissa asked. "The usual." Trevor said as they both sat down. As they conversed a bit, Lazlo arrived.

"Hey dad." Trevor greeted. "Son, glad you could make it." Lazlo responded as he sat down on another couch.

"You sent for me. What's up?" Trevor asked.

"Straight to the point huh? I like that." Lazlo nodded with a smirk.

"So, when are you getting married?" Lazlo asked looking straight at his son.

The doorbell rang at Trevor's penthouse. Lilly wondered who it was this time, and went to check. She saw a lady at the door. She wasn't alarmed seeing it was the kind of lady that would definitely come to see Trevor. So, she opened the door.

Seeing Lilly the lady frowned, looking at her wickedly. "Can I help you?" Lilly asked.

"Who the hell are you, and what are you doing here?" The lady questioned, obviously seething with rage at Lilly.
