Chapter 5 Cloaked savior

In a lonely desolated alley, in the dark; A hooded figure suddenly materialized out of thin air. Another cloaked figure walked out of the darkness at the side where the moonlight could not stream through. He joined the first hooded figure while grinning, his grin wide and flashing under the moon light, "You're late" The first cloaked figure, lazily shifted his gaze to his company. "........" He just stared blankly at him in silence. "Oh.....Wait, you aren't late, you just left me all alone". Earlier when they were together, the first cloaked figure was going through his book.

He suddenly frowned and disappeared leaving the other cloaked figure to do the job, without any explanation. He was so annoyed at him. And now, instead of saying a word, he just kept a poker face......He couldn't insult him. Common, he still cared about his....um.... life? So instead, he continued to complain. But he suffered a blow, when he saw the first cloaked figure suddenly open his palm and a book materialized from thin air. It was black with weird carving and signs on it, on the front cover, there was a red gem, and there was a strange swirling motion in it. He scanned the content and gave a light nod as if satisfied with something. He then slowly raised his head and the book disappeared on a silent command. He turned his head to the side, not giving his companion a glance and said "Let's go" instantly shutting the chatter box down. His voice was deep and sensual, but it wasn't rough. It felt like a soft caress on one skin, without even trying. He started forward. " To where?" the chatter box asked. The first cloaked figure pursed in his steps, he didn't turn to the other figure, he parted his lips and said with his velvet deep soothing voice "The gathering". And he disappeared, leaving only a trail of dark mist. Instantly the chatterbox expression became serious. And he too disappeared , following the first cloaked figure. Yes, they couldn't miss the gathering. The gathering of the rank cards. ~~~~~~~ Selena has been walking for a while now. she decided to walk home instead of taking the bus. It gives her enough time to wrap her head around this whole senerios lately. She sure could say she had an eventful day. She decided to take a short cut through the alleys. she took some turns. The place was the most silent and secluded. It was getting darker and darker the further she walked through the alley. Selena shivered as a sudden gust of wind blew past her..suddenly she halted....a dead end. She had a feeling she was going the wrong way. Oh well, she turned back, she would just have to go back then. But then suddenly from no where she felt a presence; A tall shadow-like creature blocked her way. It was huge with tall black limbs. The image didn't look clear to explain. It eyes were so hallow and dark, that you could almost think it doesn't have one. The creature looked like darkness itself, baring it teeth at her. In the dark of the night under the moonlight, she could see the yellowish sharp and pointed teeths. Selena scream was buried in her throat as she stumbled backward, but tripped on a can of beer and she came down. A stray cat mowed in protest and leaped away from the alley leaving her behind. She also wanted to leave with it.Selena was paralyzed as fear gripped her. She stared at the creature....no monster before her. Rushing towards her, about to launch an attack. Selena instinctively covers her face with her arms, and then.....there was silence. Appalled by this sudden silence and sensation on her hands. A subtle change occurred, and a warm sensation on her neck region. Selena uncovered her eyes and was shocked to see the creature was frozen, like crystalline frozen. it was baring it teeth at her, its head remain unfrozen. And for a minute Selena was stunned. As she looked into the snarling creature's eyes; a blinding flash and she found herself staring at her friend Avery, seemingly in the kitchen with her. She tried to move but felt rooted to the ground. Huh? She struggled to moved her immobile limbs. Suddenly, she saw a shadow-like figure looming behind Avery, exactly like the creature she just encountered . Her friend was walking and staring towards her direction , but not seeing her, and suddenly GASP! Blood trickled out from the side of Avery's mouth as a dark blade pierced through her. Selena looked on in horror as the monster retract its blade like arm and fixed everything to look like a suicide, including the suppose knife. Her body shook in disbelief helplessly staring at the scene unfolding before her eyes. What was this creature and how is it related to her friend?. Why did it kill her? Abruptly she was back to the present, as the scene dispersed before her. The creature halfly covered in ice abruptly broke free in that moment and it raises it blade like arm to struck Selena, with the intent of killing. SWISH! SLASH! Blue light forming the line of a slash mark appeared on the creature from the shoulder, slicing from left to right in a clean cut. Selena was shaken as the creature fell before her in two and turn to a goo-like substance and some figures, dropped down in the shadow behind it. ~~~~~~~~~ In the dark of the night, the moonlight as the only source of light. The figures came running out of the shadows, making their selves known. They were well dresses for fighting, with some carrying weapons. The figure that slashed through the monster held his blade in one hand; covered in goo-like substance, ran forward and stretched his weapon free hand to her. In a hasty voice he said. "Come with us, you'll be safe!". As Selena stared at the outstretched hand, the thoughts flowing through her mind were of- 'What if more of those monsters come?!' 'Who are these people?' 'Will i get answers?' But the thought that prevailed was the fact that she would be safe with them. Those words called to her. So without hesitation she took his hand offered to her and soon the figures with Selena took of into the night. ••• She didn't know how much distanced they have covered. She was too busy trying not to throw up. After she accepted the stranger's hand, another one from behind came and pick her up. All she could remember was the jumping from one building to another. She thought she should look at the direction of where they were taking her, but she could barely keep herself from throwing up if she kept her eyes open. So she had to close it. Hopefully, she'll be alright. ............ Selena's mouth was left gaping open and her eyes wide. Now they have gotten to their destination. Selena just looked around with that same expression. The first stranger from before came up to her. "You don't need to be afraid, we are not gonna-" but he was quite shocked when Selena finally said a word "Awesome" she called in awe of their surroundings . the whole place looked like a base with so many high tech equipments and some other things she doesn't even know about. The place was beyond cool. It was huge too and she also suspected this wasn't the only room. " Wow that was the last thing I expected for her to say" The other figure, which was also a guy said. He was the one to carry her here. He was sitting carelessly on the couch. Yeah you heard it right, there was a living room. But he still looked like he was posing for a photoshoot for the next cover of hot men. He had yellow hair that fell over his eyes and sea blue eyes that stared teasingly back at her, he looked even better than models. From his demeanor alone and bold charming eyes, one would guess the young man a promiscuous lifestyle by a mere glance. He held a card between his fingers; swirling and tossing like straight out of a magic show. "You look calm for a girl, who just experience almost facing death, from a creature you have never seen or heard of before". Interrupted a woman's voice who seized her attention to the side to sight the tall woman leaning against the wall. With a well built frame muscular of a fighter and mature cold expression, her stoic eyes locked on Selene's, to carry no hint of excitement or welcoming aura". Wow! already just got here and someone dosen't like her. Was it even surprising for her? Selena guessed she must be the hardest to please in the whole group. She would also pack a mean punch; if what she looked like could say a few about her character. " Zera! Don't give her a hard time. She's taking this so well". Selena studied the young woman to spot the childlike glow in her eyes, a warm welcoming smile that would put a sensible person at ease especially with her optimistic wide smile that seemed genuine. But Selena was disturbed by a particular detail, the fact that she had golden brown hair and emerald green eyes, just like her late friend. Her excitement and vigour was then reduced. She took a deep breath and asked. "What am i doing here? Who are you guys? And what is that creature.....no monster that attacked me-" "Okay, okay, calm down..." she was interrupted by the first figure that saved her, his deep voice gentle and calming, he was also very handsome with his dark brown hair that looked like he had ran his hand through it multiple times. He had a good muscular build bigger than everyone there but not buff; with sharp planes and edges of his facial features and body. Even the yellow haired man had a slim but muscular frame, a model-like look. The men had broad chest and shoulders, she'll give them that. The dark brown haired man had a commander imposing aura, but he was surprisingly calm to her. The women were gorgeous like models too. Was this a model photoshoot.
