Chapter 6 I Want Fifty Million Dollars

Tonight's dinner was a formal small business party, and several business bigwigs attended the banquet.

When the other guests heard Caroline and Sawyer's conversation, they gradually lowered their voices and paid more attention to the two people.

"Go ahead!" Sawyer urged Caroline in a low voice when he saw that she stood there motionless and said nothing. "If you won't dance, then get out of here," he added.

Caroline looked at Sawyer without saying a word, a faint smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.

On the other side, Mr. Zane felt that this request was too much. However, he knew very well how hard it was for him to book an appointment with Sawyer tonight.

More importantly, the Hughes family was facing a serious crisis since last night. They needed to secure a cooperation with the Clark family, or things would only get worse.

"Miss Hughes..." Mr. Zane urged Caroline in a low voice.

Still smiling calmly, Caroline played with the empty glass in her hand for a while. She stared at Sawyer for a few seconds. Then suddenly, she reached out and gently took the cigarette in his hand.

"I have no problem dancing, but I want fifty million dollars in exchange. Will you give it to me?" she asked lightly.

"What?" Sawyer was utterly shocked when he heard Caroline's request. He didn't expect her to say something like that. "Do you think you are worth fifty million dollars?" he snapped.

At this time, Caroline's gaze suddenly became fierce.

Without thinking twice, she pressed the lit cigarette butt on Sawyer's thigh.

Sawyer groaned in pain and reflexively slapped Caroline hard across the face.

However, before his hand could reach her face, he felt a sharp pain in his palm.

Caroline grabbed his thumb firmly and held it for a few seconds. Then, she threw his hand back and menacingly stared at him for a moment before raising an eyebrow challengingly.

Sawyer looked around subconsciously, feeling humiliated. He pointed at Caroline furiously and roared in a deep voice, "Bitch! Do you think there is anyone here who doesn't know about your ill repute? Believe it or not, I will make it impossible for the Hughes family to even stay in Ardver any longer!"

Caroline didn't seem to take Sawyer seriously at all as she smiled while he scolded her.

At first, she didn't intend to hit Sawyer. She just wanted to get through this dinner for her grandfather's sake. Killian wanted to sell her but it was not up to him to decide.

But Sawyer was too arrogant.

At this moment, several respectful greetings suddenly came from the door.

Sawyer vaguely heard the words "Mr. Patel", which startled him. He quickly turned to look in the direction of the door.

Caroline had her back to the door but she also heard it, and her body instantly froze.

With a dignified air, Rafael walked slowly to the sofa and sat down leisurely, crossing his long legs. Someone was complimenting him, but he only listened to the man absent-mindedly, his face devoid of any expression. His eyes were fixed on the familiar figure not far away.

So it turned out that last night in the mall, he didn't make a mistake. It was really her!

She seemed to have grown taller and thinner.

Most of the people present knew about Rafael and Caroline's past story. The sudden appearance of Rafael at the dinner venue made the atmosphere a little awkward.

Even though Rafael had abandoned Caroline in the past, they still had a story together.

Once the moment of confusion had passed, Sawyer bypassed Caroline and walked quickly towards Rafael. They didn't invite Rafael to attend the dinner.

"Mr. Patel, what brings you here tonight?" Sawyer asked with a smile. His attitude had drastically changed as compared to earlier.

Rafael shifted his gaze from Caroline to Sawyer and asked indifferently, "Can't I come here if I want to?"

Sawyer broke out in a cold sweat and he replied quickly, "Of course you can! I am glad that you decided to come!"

Rafael's aura was so intimidating. Sawyer knew very well that if he dared to irritate Rafael, the latter could easily destroy the Clark family.

It had been a long time since anyone saw the last person who offended Rafael. No one knew if he was alive or dead.

Rafael didn't say anything but slightly furrowed his brows. He seemed disgusted with Sawyer's excessive flattery.

His gaze once again shifted from Sawyer and fell on Caroline's slender figure. At this time, she still had her back to him.

After staring at the woman for a while, Rafael asked calmly, "Miss Hughes, don't you recognize me?"
