Caroline subconsciously glanced at the little boy in Rafael's arm. The boy had bright eyes and beautiful eyebrows. His lips were thin and his nose was straight. He looked exactly like Rafael.
It turned out Rafael had a child.
Thinking about it, Caroline felt it was quite normal for Rafael to have a child at his age. After all, he would turn 30 this year.
"Where is your hat?" Rafael asked the little boy. He had noticed that everybody downstairs were staring at his son.
Upon hearing Rafael's words, the little boy, Joel Patel, pulled out a small peaked cap from his arms. He obviously didn't want to wear it.
"I thought I have established some ground rules with you, haven't I?" Rafael scolded the little boy gently and pinched his chubby hand. He then took the peaked cap from the little boy and quickly put it on the little boy's head to cover his little face.
"Marshmallow!" Joel shouted excitedly. When Rafael put the cap on the little boy's head, Joel's sight was blocked but his eyes fell on the pink marshmallow shop on the first floor. Joel immediately pointed excitedly at the shop.
"No candies tonight!" Rafael said with furrowed brows. He felt a headache.
This child was really difficult to take care of. He was not only stupid, but also stubborn. He was also a food lover who got excited at the sight of desserts, just like his mother when she was a child.
"Want it!" Joel insisted, wrapping his arms around Rafael's neck. The little boy pouted and was about to cry. He looked so sad.
It'd been several days since he last ate candies, so when he saw the marshmallow shop just now and thought of the sweet taste, his mouth watered.
Rafael had to give in. He quietly pulled out his phone and asked one of his bodyguards to buy a marshmallow for Joel. Rafael only had a son, and if Joel wanted the stars in the sky, Rafael would find a way to give it to the child.
When Rafael looked away, he happened to see a familiar figure.
Stunned, Rafael looked in that direction again. However, by this time, the figure had already disappeared in a corner.
An hour later, Caroline was sitting by the window in the third-floor cafe. She stared at the computer screen in front of her while unconsciously stirring the ice in the cup.
She tapped on the keyboard with one hand for a while. A few minutes later, a green light flickered on the screen.
King's voice came through the wireless earphone. "Very good. It's done."
Without saying anything, Caroline turned around and looked out of the window expressionlessly. The entire sixty-story building in front of her was instantly plunged into darkness. From where she was, she could hear the commotion in the building. She blocked the building's circuit system.
After this task was completed, Caroline put her phone aside. Just then, she received a bank deposit alert. Two million dollars had just been deposited in the account connected to her VISA card.
"Caroline, what's wrong with you today?" King couldn't help but ask after noticing she seemed a little absent-minded the whole day.
In the past, she had never had any issue completing such a task. But today, it took her a lot of effort to do it and they almost missed the time.
"I'm fine. I haven't gotten over the jet lag yet. I just feel a little dizzy. I'll be fine after a night's rest," Caroline explained lightly after a short pause.
"When are you coming back?" King asked again.
Caroline suddenly thought of the dinner Killian asked her to attend tomorrow. She curled her lips and replied, "Before the graduation ceremony. It depends."
King was silent for a while, then he said in a low voice, "If the Hughes family makes things difficult for you, inform me immediately. If there is an emergency, you can contact Kevin directly." After saying that, he hung up the phone.
Although what he said sounded like an order from a superior to a subordinate, Caroline could feel his concern for her.
King was the only person in this world who cared about her. If it weren't for King, she wouldn't have been where she was now.
After King hung up the phone, Caroline took out the bank card that Killian had given her in the afternoon. She stared at it a few times and sneered silently. Then, she entered the bank card number in the computer.
The Hughes family owned an entertainment company that was only worth a few hundreds of millions of dollars in total. Plus, their financial firewall system was so useless that Caroline would have no trouble hacking it.
When she thought of the way Killian and Sarah talked just now, her eyes turned cold.
She was determined to make them feel the consequences of angering her. This would be her first big gift for them since her return.
