Chapter 5 Fawn On Me

In the evening of the next day

Wearing a long light cyan dress and high heels, Caroline elegantly walked through the doors of the Riverview Restaurant. It was there that Killian told her the dinner would be held.

Standing near the door, Caroline looked around the crowd.

She soon spotted Mr. Zane, the general manager of the company under Killian's name. The latter also saw her and waved to her. Caroline walked over and greeted Mr. Zane indifferently. "I'm sorry, Mr. Zane. I got stuck in traffic on the road."

Mr. Zane smiled at her. Killian had specially instructed him to introduce Caroline to the guests tonight.

Thinking of this, Mr. Zane turned to the man in front of him and introduced Caroline. "Mr. Clark, this is the eldest daughter of the Hughes family. She just returned from abroad yesterday."

The man looked at Caroline up and down. He was initially upset with her being late, but the moment he saw her face, his unhappiness vanished.

Caroline stretched out her right hand and greeted the man politely. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Clark."

Sawyer Clark was only in his early thirties, and he was already a famous figure in Ardver thanks to the Clark family.

Recently, he was discussing cooperation in a film project with the Hughes family's company. Caroline knew, however, that the Hughes family was not influential enough to allow them to cooperate directly with the Clark family. Therefore, not only she but everyone knew what the real purpose of this dinner was.

Sawyer's impression of Caroline wasn't good before he came here as her reputation was in tatters. But now, he felt that she was more composed and refined than four years ago. She was way more charming. If Mr. Zane hadn't introduced Caroline to him, he wouldn't have recognized her.

"Miss Hughes, it's been so many year since I last saw you. I almost couldn't recognize you," Sawyer said to Caroline with a smile.

As Sawyer spoke, he looked down to look at the hand Caroline was holding out to him. He looked at her for a moment without taking her hand. "The last time I saw you, you refused to dance with me," he said.

Caroline already had the feeling that the man in front of her looked a little familiar. After hearing what he said, she remembered that when she was in the Patel family, Bella took her to several parties. Sawyer had once invited her to dance, but she refused.

It was not that she was arrogant then, she just didn't want to have any contact with these men.

"I was thoughtless back then. Sorry if I made you feel embarrassed, Mr. Clark." After saying that, Caroline took two glasses of wine from the waiter and handed one to the man. "Please accept my apology," she said.

With that, she brought the glass to her lips and drank up the wine in a few gulps.

Sawyer watched Caroline carefully and he even felt that the way she drank wine was inexplicably attractive.

This chick had a slender neck and delicate cheeks, which made men who saw her want to have sex with her at a glance.

No wonder Rafael couldn't resist her charm and slept with her.

But now, even if she was the most beautiful woman in the world, she had no status. She had to crawl at his feet and beg him.

After drinking up the wine, Caroline smiled politely at Sawyer, waiting for him to speak.

Looking at her pink face, Sawyer's eyes were full of mockery. "Since last night, the Hughes family has been in the middle of a financial scandal. You can ask anyone you want. Who would dare collaborate with the Hughes family now? In such a situation, do you think a glass of wine will convince me to help the Hughes family? Dream on!"

Caroline sneered in her heart. She didn't remember asking for help just now.

She was even the one who exposed the Hughes family's financial scandal last night. She actually hoped that the Hughes family would be more miserable.

Caroline was about to say something. However, Mr. Zane's expression changed and he quickly explained, "Mr. Clark, it's all a misunderstanding. Our company..."

Before Mr. Zane could finish his words, Sawyer raised a brow and addressed Caroline. "Miss Hughes, I heard that you are good at dancing. Look. There is a pole on the stage. How about you go there and do a pole striptease? If I am pleased by your performance, maybe I'll help you."
